Memorial services for Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever from 5:30-7:30 pm, Wed., Sespt 26 at the Buena High School, 5225 E. Buena School Blvd., Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. Dever was killed in a one-vehicle rollover crash near Williams Tuesday.  The well liked Arizona lawman had gained national recognition for his work on border issues and national security.

A.J. LaFaro, AZ GOP Statewide Voter And PEVL Registration Committee Chairman, has been one busy man in his efforts to get more Arizona folks registered to vote for GOP candidates in the Nov. 6 election. LaFaro said "I'm having a great time meeting a lot of really nice people wanting to help defeat Obama and Democrats at every level of our government."  LaFaro continued, "I believe everyone realizes this election is the most important election in America's history - that's why our continued Get Out To Vote (GOTV) efforts these next 46 days are crucial."  LaFaro is also a candidate for the Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairmanship.  He can be reached at or 480-752-9164.

A GOP Activist Suggests: legislation requiring all petition signature gatherers to carry a badge, with type large enough to be readable from 5 feet, that identifies the petition signature gatherer as a paid or unpaid signature gatherer. Also, the person must have externally visible personal identification so that the potential signers can see who is asking for the signatures.

Senate-Defeats-Bill-To-Place-Conditions-On-US-Aid The Senate has defeated a bill that would have conditioned foreign aid on a country's cooperation in investigating attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities. The bill also would have denied aid to Pakistan unless that country releases Dr. Shakil Afridi.

Sharon Giese, Karen Johnson, And Linda White are the three candidates under consideration by a AZGOP special committee for submission to the State Executive Committee for election to the vacant position of Arizona Republican National Committeewoman.  Incumbent candidate Giese is the immediate past RNC representative, Johnson is a former legislator and White is the AZGOP secretary. The special committee will meet Sept 24 to narrow the field down to two candidates for an election by the state committee - as specified under our GOP by-laws.  An Executive Committee meeting has been called for 10 am, Sept 29 to elect the Republican National Committeewoman for Arizona.
