Arizona Republican Party Mourns the Loss of Ed Hedges, Chairman of Legislative District 24  “Our prayers go out to Ed’s family and we are sorry to so suddenly lose such a good friend and community leader who just returned with us from the Republican National Convention in Tampa.  Ed Hedges was a solid Republican, always willing to do whatever it took to help and improve the lives of those around him.  The list of things he did is too long: coordinating our presence at the State Fair, working polling places, recruiting volunteers, painting signs and shuttling people and materials in his truck.  He was always kind and big-hearted, and we will always remember him as a good friend and tireless leader of his district,” said Tom Morrissey, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party.
A.J. LaFaro, Chairman, AZGOP Statewide Voter And PEVL Registration, is asking for volunteers to help with voter registrations at senior or retirement centers.  Karen Thomas is coordinating the effort. Contact Thomas at

Gov Jan Brewer: Federal Court Denies Motion To Enjoin Heart Of Sb 1070; Law To Take Effect Shortly  “Today, Arizona is one big step closer to implementing the core provision of SB 1070. I applaud the federal court for siding with the U.S. Supreme Court in refusing to block the most critical section of this law, which will empower state and local law enforcement, as part of a legal stop or detention, to inquire about an individual’s immigration status when the officer has reasonable suspicion. With this provision, Arizona makes a clear statement that it will not tolerate sanctuary city policies, and will now have thousands of additional officers to collaborate with the federal government as state and local law enforcement do what they always have: enforce the law.  “After more than two years of legal challenges, it is time that Section 2(B) of SB 1070 take effect. Given today’s ruling, along with the federal court’s suggestion that it intends in the very near future to formally lift the existing injunction, it is clear the day of implementation is fast approaching.  “As I have said consistently, it is not enough that this law be enforced. It must be enforced efficiently, effectively and in harmony with the Constitution and civil rights. I have no doubt Arizona’s law enforcement officers are up for the task ahead.”

Federal District Judge Deals Blow To National Labor Relations Board, Rules In Favor Of Arizona Law That Protects Secret Ballot In Union Elections  In A Rebuke To A 2011 Obama Administration demand calling for Arizona to repudiate the voter-approved protection of secret balloting in union elections, U.S. District Court Judge Frederick Martone today granted Summary Judgment in favor of the State’s position that the law is constitutional, Attorney General Tom Horne announced.  “This is a stinging rebuke to an outrageous National Labor Relations Board attack made in 2011 when that panel tried to subvert the sanctity of the secret ballot,” Horne said. “As I said at the time, this intimidation by our own elected leaders must stop, and today’s court decision is a welcome step in that direction. Judge Martone’s ruling makes it clear that the 2010 state constitutional amendment requiring that union elections be held using a secret ballot as opposed to using the so-called ‘card-check’, cannot be overruled by the bureaucrats at the NLRB. This is a tremendous victory not only for the people of Arizona, but for the institution of free elections for all people, a cherished right for which our forebears fought a revolution.”   He added, “Four states, including Arizona, passed similar constitutional amendments. The NLRB threatened all four states, that if they did not voluntarily negate their amendments, the NLRB would sue. All four states refused to be intimidated. However, the NLRB only sued Arizona, so Arizona successfully carried the ball for the entire country on this important issue concerning our basic freedoms.”

Last night Michelle Obama said: "being president doesn't change who you are, it reveals who you are."  That was probably the only purely truthful thing she said all evening.  Many of those who voted for him in 2008, based on his nebulous promise of hope and change, have now changed their support to "it's time to exchange him."He has been revealed for the rabid anti-colonialist, Neo-Leninist he is and always has been.  He has been revealed as a threat to the America we love and the traditions that have made her the envy of the world.   – Mychal Massie
