·        2012 Election Analysis From AZ GOP Chairman Tom Morrissey: 2012 has been a very challenging year for all of us.  I appreciate all of the hard work you have performed throughout this year.  The credit for the victories we have accomplished can be traced directly to your unstinting labors.
o   From Obamacare to redistricting to the national convention, the primary and general elections, we have been constantly facing and overcoming major challenges.  In this holiday season, we need to recharge ourselves; yet state law requires us to complete our district and county Organization Meetings.  I have shared the emotional roller-coaster you have experienced.   We need our batteries recharged and the holiday season that is upon us should be a time of family, friends and devotion to our Creator that inspired our founding fathers.
o   While we had many victories in 2012, we have a lot of work to do if we want to grow our party and uphold our principles.
o   2014 will involve at least three competitive congressional districts and we must ensure Republicans win our statewide offices, especially the Governor’s Office.  This year we won races where we faced significant competition - we now have Sen Jeff Flake and have elected more Republican county and city officials than ever before in the history of the state, including Sheriff Arpaio.  We worked closely with our leaders in Gila, Graham and Pinal counties, where we swept nearly all of the county wide offices for the first time.  We delivered the state to Governor Romney, won all three contested Corporation Commission seats giving us unanimous control of that important agency and completing our sweep of all statewide offices.  In addition, Republicans maintained the majority status in both houses of the state legislature, and won numerous important victories at the municipal level.
o   We have succeeded because we have been transforming our party into a more effective and innovative organization, using phone banking, email blasts, neighborhood canvassing and the every-growing influence of social media.  For our Republican candidates we have provided legal support, logistical solutions, communications expertise and voter identification.  We have helped grow a viable young Republican movement as evidenced by the volunteers who populated our headquarters.  We worked closely with national Republican committees like the RNC, and we worked hand-in-hand with Romney/Ryan 2012 to win Arizona by more than nine points.
o   Our Hispanic outreach is growing by leaps and bounds, and Hispanic churches have been inviting me to speak on behalf of the party to their congregations.  Our message of inclusion is gaining traction and my feeling is that we will now be able to deliver the message of who we are and what principles we stand upon.  This will have a deep resonance and start a movement in our direction, because, like us, the Hispanic community has a deep respect for conservative principles including the right to life, love of God, and love of family.
o   As a leader I have respect for all groups within our party, and we are finding our common ground.  Part of that common ground is our mutual dedication to the Constitution, and a resolute commitment to our Party Platform principles: Conservative, positive, enlightening and fair.  All who love our country and the principles espoused by the founders are welcome at the Republican table, and it is the only way to achieve victory.
o   Kris and I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, the Season of Hanukkah, and a Happy New Year.
