·        Message from Carolyn Short, Chairman – Keep AZ Drug Free  480-209-9225: You will recall that Judge Gordon entered an order on December 3, 2012 mandating that Maricopa County issue the documents requested by White Mountain Health Center, a potential dispensary owner. Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery then filed a motion in the trial court asking for a stay of the order on the basis that compliance with the order would cause county employees to violate federal law. That motion, not surprisingly, was denied by Judge Gordon. Mr. Montgomery then filed a motion in the Court of Appeals, asking for a stay of the lower court order.
The expedited hearing before the Court of Appeals is this Thursday. Please take two minutes to let Mr. Montgomery know you appreciate his continued efforts. (He certainly is hearing from pot advocates!) His email address is Montgomw@mcao.maricopa.gov. Just a quick -- Thank you for your continued fight against "medical" marijuana! -- undoubtedly would be appreciated. We need to let him know that his refusal to back down inspires us to continue our own fight! Please blind copy me, if you don't mind. If you want to attend the hearing, let me know and I'll send you specifics.
