Former Arizona congressman Sam Steiger dies    Arizona icon known for his brutal honesty and wry sense of humor served five terms in the U.S. House.

The Arizona State Republican Executive Committee Will Meet At 10 Am, Sept 29 at State headquarters, 3501 N. 24th St., for the election of an Arizona Committeewoman to the Republican National Committee.  The ad hoc Selection Committee has forwarded incumbent Sharon Giese and former legislator Karen Johnson as the eligible nominees for tomorrow’s election. State Committeemen must attend to vote. No proxy’s are allowed, according to ad hoc committee chairman Bruce Ash, who is the Arizona’s Committeeman to the RNC.

Expired, Unwanted, Unused And Otherwise Dangerous Prescription Drugs Disposal  from 10 am- 2pm, Sat., Sept 29, at Wesley Bolin Plaza, 17th Avenue Between Washington/Jefferson,  In Phx.  The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked, according to Attorney General Tom Horne, whose office is sponsoring the event along with the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

Martha McSally Will Be The Speaker At The Springboard Annual Graduation ceremony at 2 pm, Sept 29 in Oro Valley.  Springboard is a faith based organization for youth in crisis.  It helps young ladies who come from a history of drug and alcohol abuse, neglect or abusive situations to rehabilitate and rebuild their lives.  Springboard is a program of Teen Challenge, where Martha has served on the board of directors for 15 years.

Navy SEALS Respond After Media Matters Calls Them "Gutless"    Navy Seals

The Secretary of State’s office has announced that Polls Workers are needed for The Nov. 6 election. Arizona has more than 2,200 polling locations. To function properly, each location needs approximately seven poll workers. That adds up to more than 14,000 poll workers needed. Poll workers are paid for their time.A poll worker:
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must attend required training
  • Must be available for General Election, November 6
  • Must be a Registered Voter (unless participating in student program)
The responsibilities of a poll worker are:
  • Assisting in setting up and taking down the polling location
  • Providing direct help to voters as necessary
  • Knowing how to properly use the voting unit
  • Checking voter ID
  • Issuing voters the proper ballot
  • Serving all voters promptly and with specific sensitivity to voters with special needs.
