·        Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ), Responding To The Recent Nuclear Test Threat by North Korea, released the following statement. "Once again, North Korea is thumbing its nose at the international community and rejecting another round of U.N. Security Council sanctions placed on them in response to North Korea's December 12th missile launch. The rogue regime is poised to conduct a nuclear test in response to U.N. punishment, and made it clear that its long-range rockets are designed with warheads aimed at striking the United States.
"In a statement Thursday, North Korea described the U.S. as 'the sworn enemy of the Korean people,' while adding that it would retaliate against the United States with 'force, not with words…'   The North has already tested intercontinental ballistic missiles that could possibly target the U.S. and reports show that they may be developing and testing and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device capable of shutting down our electric grid; possibly crippling our defense critical assets and ability to respond.
"The failure of leadership in the United States in response to North Korea's continued belligerence is astounding.  President Obama's posture of leading from behind has led to an absolute failure at curtailing North Korea's massive weapons program.  All reports suggest that North Korea's missile programs are further along that four years ago.
"As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I stay committed to ensuring that the United States has a fully capable, well funded and layered missile defense program designed specifically to protect the American people from rogue regimes like North Korea making threats upon the United States and western civilization."
