·        The “Stop The Recall” Against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio folks are asking Arpaio supporters to monitor high traffic areas such as libraries or shopping center for people circulating petitions to gather signatures for the recall movement. Stop the Recall folks say you have the right to stand near them and ask any prospective votes not to sign the petitions, but they also caution not to engage in any physical contact with the voter or the circulator.  “Stop the Recall” flyers can be obtained by contacting
·        The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services announced that they will not forward with their proposed Preliminary Draft Environmental Assessment (PDEA) for the implementation of a Southwestern Gray Wolf Management Plan for Portions of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.  Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson stated, “I believe this a step in the right direction. Arizona depends on cattle ranching, hunting and tourism to bring jobs and economic growth to the state. Other states have lost millions of dollars in economic growth due to their reintroduction of the Mexican Gray Wolf. I believe Arizona and Mohave County would have a lot to lose if the Fish and Wildlife Services were to go forward with their reintroduction of the wolf.”  Mexican Gray wolves were re-introduced into the Blue Range Area in northeastern Arizona in the mid-1990s over the protest of ranchers in that area.
·        Early voting for the city of Phoenix Special Election Started Feb 14. Registered voters, residing within the city of Phoenix, can cast ballots onmeasures to amend City Charter provisions relating to the employee retirement system and security for public transit vehicles.  This election is open to registered voters who reside within the city of Phoenix at least 29 days before the election.  Early ballots may be cast person at Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St.,15th floor from 8 am-5 pm, Mon-Fri through March 18. Other early voting sites will open starting Saturday, Feb. 23. Voted early ballots must be received by the City Clerk no later than 7 pm, March 12 (Election Day).  Accessible voting devices that permit voters with disabilities to vote independently will be available at all early voting sites.  For more information about the March election, contact the City Clerk Department at 602-261-VOTE (8683), or visit
·        The Maricopa County Air Quality Department Next Brown Bag will be held at noon, Feb. 26 at the 1001 N. Central Ave., Phoenix. The Brown Bag is open to the public at no charge. ·        A First Responders Camporee is scheduled March 1-3 at West World, 16601 N. Pima Road where Boy Scouts can learn first hand about what first responders do.  Register:  Scouts $15;  leaders $7. 
·        Scottsdale Councilman Bob Littlefield has formed an exploratory committee for a 2014 run for the Legislature.
·        Americans For Prosperity AZ Director Tom Jenney says: Thanks to AZ Reps. Justin Olson, Tom Forese, Paul Boyer, Adam Kwasman, Rick Gray, and John Kavanagh for voting the Truth in Spending reform (HB 2285) out of House Appropriations yesterday.
·        Phx Councilwoman Thelda Williams District 1 Community Breakfast will be held at 7:30 am, Feb 22 Deer Valley Airport Restaurant, 702 West Deer Valley Road, Phx.  Airport Manager Art Fairbanks will address operations and safety initiatives at Deer Valley Airport.  Breakfast available for $4.99;  District 1 will pay for drinks.

·        The City Of Phx Public Works Department Will Host A Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection event for Phoenix customers from 8 am-noon, Feb. 21-23 at Desert West Park, 6602 W. Encanto Blvd.  The HHW events are free for Phoenix solid waste customers. Proof of Phoenix residency is required.  Attendees must bring their current city of Phoenix city services bill showing solid waste fees and a matching photo ID with the same Phoenix address.

Ø  Automobile fluids
Ø  Oil-based paints and related materials (10 gallon maximum)
Ø  Pesticides; herbicides; insecticides
Ø  Pool chemicals
Ø  Propane tanks, grill or camp size only
Ø  Car – lead acid batteries
Ø  Car tires – only five per household, no over-sized tires.
Ø  Large appliances – refrigerators; freezers; stoves; dishwashers; washers; dryers
Ø  Air conditioner; heat pumps; water heaters; evaporate coolers
Ø  Electronics – computers; printers; televisions; stereos; DVD players
No commercial or business loads.
