·        A Briefs reader questions: “Does Obama know when shooting skeet the shotgun is pointed up - not parallel with ground?”  Skeet targets are higher up shots. Another points out the media errantly referred to the shotgun he was holding as a rifle in the now famous Obama  “skeeting shooting” photo.

·        Secretary Of State's Office Posts 2013 Financial Disclosures On Website: To provide easy access to state officials financial disclosure filings, Secretary of State Ken Bennett has announced the 2013 reports are available on "When it comes to cleaning up government, it's often said that sun shine is the best disinfectant," said Secretary Bennett. "While these forms were available from our office upon request, we felt it made sense to make them even more accessible by placing the forms online. Two years ago, we added financial disclosures to our digital library of public documents.  We felt strongly that citizens should have the ability to thoroughly inform themselves on their elected representative financial interests. The intent of requiring lawmakers and elected officials to file financial disclosures was to provide the opportunity for the public to scrutinize the forms for potential conflicts of interest. Now people can take advantage of that transparency online." Financial disclosures of state officials and legislators at: disclosure.
·     Bruce Ash – Arizona National Republican Committeeman: I never owned a gun as a kid but I frequently went shooting with my father, grandfather and sisters. My sisters and I all learned how to shoot in the same NRA safety course. It was great fun. I still enjoy shooting just as much today with my two sons. So do millions of Americans.
Today we live in an over reactive society … Yes, we've had some horrible tragedies but the tendency today is to over react to anything related to guns. I couldn't help but laugh when I heard about the lad whose crime was brandishing a toy Lego gun on the bus or the young school yard hero playing Army-- throwing a pretend grenade to save his fellow soldiers. Kid stuff. Not violence.
The mood here in Tucson is just as goofy…….gun buy backs & restrictive gun ordinances . Even a friend who has been playing tennis at a local high school for years turned away because the school is on "lock down" after Sandy Hook?
American men and women………it's time we throttle back the rhetoric and politically correct talk. Let kids be kids. Approach American violence with reason--not over reactionion . Before we cross over the line removing basic liberties Americans have enjoyed for over two centuries let's take a real deep breath. – Ash has been the RNC since 2007 and currently serves on the RNC Standing Committee Resolutions and chairs the Standing Committee on Rules.

·        Robert Graham, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, is forming a committee of to plan for Arizona's next redistricting process in 2020. "Arizona's political landscape today reflects a flawed process where election districts were drawn up based on a one-sided political agenda and too much secrecy, and I'm taking action now to make sure that doesn't happen again," said Graham.  "We are looking for an honest and open process that doesn't favor one group of voters over another -- one that is truly bipartisan and treats voters equally while putting an end to the discrimination against Republicans."
Graham is asking those interested in serving on the committee to contact the Arizona Republican Party at 602-957-7770 to apply for membership on the committee, with a deadline of Feb 28.  The committee will have nine members, one from each of Arizona's congressional districts.
The redistricting process in Arizona occurs each decade after the US Census population counts are completed and is based on the requirements in the U.S. Constitution.  The borders of Arizona's 30 legislative and nine congressional districts were drawn in 2010 by the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, but the election results clearly prove the lines favored the Democrat candidates for Congress.
