·        AZ AG: “Milke Case will be Appealed”: Attorney General Tom Horne made the following statement regarding the decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to throw out the death sentence and murder conviction of Debra Milke: “We will be appealing this decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.  If the Court takes the appeal, I will argue it personally as I have done in two previous cases over the past five months.  In my last case, the Supreme Court accepted my argument and overruled the Ninth Circuit’s decision unanimously. In this case, Ms. Milke was found to have arranged the killing of her own son, a four-year-old toddler, because he was too much of a burden and interfering with her life.  After dressing him up and telling him he was going to the mall to see Santa Claus, Milke was convicted of sending her young son off to be shot, execution style, in a desert wash. This is a horrible crime.  The Ninth Circuit’s decision needs to be reversed, and justice for Christopher needs to be served.”

·        Az Congressman Trent Franks: Missile Defense Caucus Co-Chairs Respond to Deployment of 14 New Interceptors - Today the co-chairs of the Missile Defense Caucus released the following statement after Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced a plan to add fourteen ground based interceptors to ballistic missile defense system. Franks (AZ-08) said, "Drastic cuts to missile defense have been a hallmark of this Administration. However, it is both refreshing and heartening to see that the considerable threat posed to the United States by rogue nations like North Korea, Iran, and their proxies is finally being taken more seriously. It is also unfortunate that it has taken multiple missile tests by these same rogue nations for this Administration -- led by the same President who in 2001 said 'I don't agree with missile defense' -- to realize that our missile defense systems, specifically our west coast missile defense sites that have long needed more Ground-Based Interceptors, are absolutely critical to the ongoing security of America."   The Missile Defense Caucus is a bipartisan group of almost 40 members of the House of Representatives who support a strong missile defense system for the United States and our allies. Franks is serving his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the Judiciary Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and a member of the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations. He is also a member of the Armed Services Committee, where he serves on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee and the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats, and Capabilities.
