·        Debt Ceiling Looms Beyond Spending Fight …"Leading the charge against the rule on the House floor was Rep. Matt Salmon, who has since vowed to try to bring down other rule votes if legislation will break the “Hastert rule” or increase spending without offsetting cuts. The Arizona Republican is in his second stint in Congress; in his first he helped bring down then-Speaker Newt Gingrich, participating in a failed coup plot and then announcing on CNN after the 1998 elections that he carried the six votes necessary to deny Gingrich the speaker’s gavel. He first floated his “Salmon rule” plan at a Club for Growth conference in Palm Beach, Fla., this past weekend. Buzz from the event and other discussions has already led to something of a movement around Salmon as an emerging leader of the hard right. “You’ve got a lot of outside groups who have been looking for the second coming of Mike Pence, [or] Jim DeMint, and right now he’s looking like the guy who — whether he wants it to be it or not — he’s probably going to be the guy the conservative outside groups rally to,” said Erick Erickson, the radio host, television pundit and managing editor of who keeps close tabs on the GOP conference.  Full Article: debt_ceiling_looms_beyond_spending_fight

·        Congressman Trent Franks And ‘Congressman Lincoln’ Author Chris DeRose will be featured at 6 pm, March 28  Politics on the Rocks meeting at the Montelucia Resort “Centro Lounge”, 4949 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley. Contact: Chairman Charles A. Jensen  Politics on the Rocks National Committee
·        Matt Salmon:  Its-Time-To-Break-Some-Rules-In-Congress …From this point forward, I will vote against the rule for bills that increase spending without offsetting spending cuts and encourage my other conservative colleagues to do the same. Similarly, if House leadership brings any more bills to the floor without first securing the support from the majority of the GOP conference, I will take the same action. If enough of my conservative colleagues in the House join me, we can unilaterally put an end to the growth of government that is moving us closer to Greece-like fiscal calamities.
… Why would I be willing to challenge my Republican leadership? Because my allegiance will always be to the Constitution and the American people first and foremost, not to my political party.
…The United Kingdom Special Forces have a motto — “who dares, wins.” It’s time for conservative Republicans in Congress to dare. The future of our nation depends on it.
