·        Congressman Matt Salmon, Chairman Of The Subcommittee On The Western Hemisphere, and Ranking Member Albio Sires, issued the following statement condemning the Cuban government’s continued human rights abuses against pro-democracy activists on the island: “In another example of the deteriorating human rights situation in Cuba, this week we learned that Castro’s secret police had brutally attacked women and children at the home of Denia Fernandez, leader of a pro-democracy group ‘Ladies in White.’   Reports from brave activists on the ground confirmed that the home in the eastern municipality of Palma Soriano had been surrounded by Cuban government thugs known as the Rapid Response Brigade, wielding stones to intimidate the women and children inside.  There have been reports that some sustained severe head injuries at the hands of Castro’s agents.
I am gravely concerned about the continued senseless acts of violence against champions of democracy perpetrated at the hands of the Cuban government. It is time for the international community to reengage and demand that peaceful groups like the Ladies in White are protected from government harassment and brutality” said Chairman Salmon.
I call on the Department of State to use every tool in its toolbox to step up pressure on the Cuban regime to end  its human rights abuses, and its stranglehold on the freedom of expression and self-determination of the liberty-loving people of Cuba”, added Ranking Member Sires.
·        Congressman Trent Franks Of Arizona A Recipient Of The 2013 Freedomworks “Freedomfighter Award”:FreedomWorks awarded Congressman Trent Franks of Arizona with the organization’s second annual “FreedomFighter Award,” a token of appreciation given to members of the House and Senate who consistently vote in defense of economic freedom. Each “FreedomFighter” recipient earned a minimum score of 90 percent on the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard during the 2012 legislative session, which often required legislators to cast politically unpopular votes inside the Beltway in order to defend liberty and strengthen the economy across the country. FW President Matt Kibbe said, “Congressman Trent Franks took a stand against the Washington special interest machine and proved himself a true defender of economic freedom with 95 out of 100 percent on the FreedomWorks Congressional Scorecard. FreedomWorks encourages Congressman Franks to keep fighting the good fight to protect Arizona taxpayers, and bring back fiscal sanity and accountability to the federal government.”
·        Dear Senator Driggs:  I have heard through the grape vine that you are leaning in the direction of non support of this very Republican Bill regarding curtailing the adoption of Agenda 21 programs in our State.  The excuse I have heard said is that you feel that since you are running again for re election, support of this bill would adversely affect your chances.  I would like you to consider the fact that your fellow Republicans know the P.C.s who carry the water in elections...have voted to oppose anything to do with Agenda 21 and since you are a member of the Republican party and count on these people and the rest of your constituents to support you, may I suggest that you listen to them and throw your full weight behind Senator Burges' SB 1403?  I think your support will bode much better in your up coming campaign than a NO Vote would.  Please consider what I have suggested here and stand tall for the U.S. and the State of Arizona. – Wes Harris, State Committeeman LD20.  602-432-2871 (C) or
