·        Congressional Candidate Wendy Rogers says:
ü  FACT: When Barack Obama took office in 2009, 21 million Americans were out of work. Today there are more than 23 million Americans without jobs.
ü  FACT: When Barack Obama took office, the national debt stood at $10.6 trillion. Today, America’s national debt exceeds $16.2 trillion… more than a 50-percent increase in less than 5 years.
ü  FACT: Today, 46.2 million American families qualify for food stamps… nearly one in three American families with children and nearly one in every four American families across our entire nation
ü  And since being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives by one of the slimmest margins in Arizona history, liberal Democrat Kyrsten Sinema hasn’t lifted a finger to solve any of these terrible problems we face.
·        New laws in Arizona The Arizona Legislature has passed and Gov. Jan Brewer has signed into law 201 pieces of legislation so far this session.
·        Today, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) Announced That He Is Sending A Letter To Attorney General Eric Holder calling on him to appoint a Special Counsel to fully and independently investigate the IRS targeting of the Administration’s political opponents and to prosecute to the fullest any perpetrators found guilty of abusing their government roles. Rep. Salmon released the following statement regarding his letter to Attorney General Holder: “The recent IRS scandal is both appalling and unconscionable, and once again, this Administration appears unwilling to give the American public the answers they deserve. Attorney General Holder’s recent announcement that the investigation into this abuse of power would be handled by the Justice Department and the FBI is insufficient. The targeting of any political group by a government agency is unacceptable - if not criminal - and warrants further scrutiny by someone outside of the administration. I am requesting that Attorney General Holder appoint an independent and third party investigative body to further examine who ordered this targeting and how far up the chain of command it went. Furthermore, the fact that the Justice Department recently admitted to secretly obtaining phone records from Associated Press journalists provides even more evidence that they have no credibility to lead an investigation of this magnitude. Freedom of speech and thought are essential tenants of the American system of government.  Unfortunately, this revelation that the IRS was targeting individuals and groups based on their political beliefs shakes the very foundation of our government and violates in a very real way their constitutional protections. The Administration continues to break the trust of the American people by failing to provide honest answers.  They can take a step towards restoring some trust by appointing a Special Counsel to fully, fairly, and without bias, or undue influence investigate this latest scandal.”
·        On May 7, 2013 Rep. Salmon Introduced H.R. 1847, The Electronic Communications Privacy Act Amendments Act Of 2013, a bill designed to increase protections for electronic communications, including personal emails, of U.S. citizens. That bill addresses the privacy concerns raised from the recent position by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that the Fourth Amendment does not protect the privacy of personal emails because internet users do not “have a reasonable expectation of privacy in such communications.” Click here for more information.
·        Rep. Matt Salmon Is Also An Original Cosponsor To H.R. 1950, the Taxpayer Nondiscrimination and Protection Act, aimed at preventing this type of biased, politically-motivated discrimination. Salmon (AZ-05) serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. He is also a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. ·        As President Obama Struggles To Explain The Political Scandals enveloping his administration, the Republican National Committee has released a new video, “Demand Transparency,” highlighting the administration’s lack of accountability. “What started as the White House’s shifting story about the Benghazi talking points has snowballed into an IRS that has been targeting conservative groups and a Justice Department using secret subpoenas to record AP reporters’ phone conversations,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.“President Obama promised the most transparent presidency in history, but his actions continue to raise questions about the credibility of his administration. The American people deserve immediate answers.” View the web video here.
·        In Response To The President’s IRS Announcement, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement, calling out the president’s failure to address Americans’ real questions and take responsibility for the actions of his administration: “Simply allowing the acting-head of the IRS to resign is not enough. This is clearly a scapegoat that distracts from answering the core questions from information that has been known within the administration for over a year: Who in the White House knew what and when? If they were aware earlier of improper activity, why wasn’t action taken sooner? The president still owes Americans—especially the targeted groups—an apology. He spent years maligning them. He called some groups ‘tea-baggers’ and said in 2010 he would 'punish our enemies.' There’s no denying he created a culture in his administration that encouraged the targeting of these groups. Ultimately, he should take responsibility for what happened and stop avoiding the tough questions.”

·        DC Turns-On-Obama  Republicans have waited five years for the moment to put the screws to Obama – and they have one-third of all congressional committees on the case now. Establishment Democrats, never big fans of this president to begin with, are starting to speak out. And reporters are tripping over themselves to condemn lies, bullying and shadiness in the Obama administration.
