·        Sen John McComish Will Be Interviewed At 4 Pm, May 21 On “Hair On Fire” hostesses Barbara Espinosa and co-host Randy Pullen. McComish is the Senate Majority leader for the 2013-14 Arizona legislative sessions. He will also be serving on the Commerce, Energy and Military Committee, as well as the Rules Committee. McComish has served three terms in the House, where he was elected Majority Whip for the 2007-08 and Majority Leader for the 2009-10 Sessions.  As a senator, he was the Chairman of the Banking and Insurance Committee plus served on the Finance, the Rules, and the Economic Development and Jobs Creation Committees in 2011-12.  McComish received the 2011 Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Sentinel Award for co-sponsoring a number of tax bills that were eventually part of the Arizona Competitiveness Package and also for sponsoring several workers’ compensation bills. ·        Local Conservatives And Tea Party Members Will Demonstration At Noon, May 21 In Front Of The IRS Office, 4041 N.Central, Phx to protest the IRS targeting of Tea Party and other conservatives for audits over the past few years.  irs-targeting-brings-tea-party-back-from-dead
·        As Part Of A National Protest To The Proposed “Gang Of 8” Amnesty Bill S 744, a "Remember 1986" - Say NO to Amnesty press conference will be held at 10 am, May 21 at 22nd Street and Camelback Road. Speakers include BanAmnestyNow President Sen. Russell Pearce, Remember 1986 Coalition representative Rusty Childress, former AZGOP Chairman Randy Pullen, a Numbers USA spokesman, Anna Gaines of Citizens United; Haydee Dawson of Arizona Latino Republican Association, former Border Patrol Agent/Author Mike Logan, and possibly Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
·        Pima County Republicans will participate in the nationwide “Protest Against Amnesty S744” press conference at 10 am, May 21, outside the Federal Court Building (new one) 405 W. Congress. Speakers include Pima County GOP Chairman Carolyn Cox and Second Amendment spokesman Charles Heller. Protests against the Amnesty Bill include:
1.    gives a "path to" citizenship to gang members, violent criminals (no matter how long their rap sheet) & terrorists already here!;
2.    will cost Americans $9.3 Trillions they will give to illegal aliens, will allow illegals to keep the jobs they have stolen from Americans;
3.    will give immediate U.S. entry for millions of illegals;
4.    there are not 11 million but 40-60 million illegal aliens in the country according to stats from different organizations;
5.    there are 23 million Americans unemployed and they will have to compete for         jobs with these millions of illegals with more coming in all the time.
6.    will give DHS (Nappie) unlimited powers in waiving crimes of illegals & do all sorts of things "for" illegals,
7.    will give 33 million foreign workers visas for Americans' jobs
8.    it does not secure the border and does not stop most of the illegal invasion from even happening,
9.    it does not prevent more amnesties,
10. will give Mexico millions of Mexicans more (they already are 80% of all illegals)  to make their Revolution on the U.S. (even though it's based on lies & myths) to take over first the SW of the U.S. (& then many want the entire nation),
11. will overcrowd and overburden even more - our schools, our hospitals, etc., etc. and deplete even more our Social Services, Welfare, Food Stamps, etc.,(they will be eligible for right away).
12. will facilitate the making of the Globalist North American Union (which would take away our sovereignty and put together the U.S., Mexico & Canada,
13. illegals will be able to file class action lawsuits against the U.S. and we will be forced to pay for their attorneys,
14. this amnesty breaks their promise to the American people about English and about having to pay back taxes.

·        CORRECTION:  One of yesterday’s Briefs items errantly read LD11 Sen Al Marvin…  It should have read LD11 Sen Al Melvin, Who Has An Exploratory Committee To Run For Governor,  points Out that he is the only potential candidate who is a vet, from a rural county, a sitting AZ Senator & actively working for Tort Reform. And he has spoken out against Medicaid expansion and voted against it multiple times.  Yesterday Melvin and Col Joey Strickland, former Dir of ADVS, spoke at an Armed Forces Day lunch hosted by the Pima County GOP.
·        LD11 Sen. Al Melvin plans to attend the Conservative Forum in Tucson on Saturday and he will attend the GOP picnic in Hereford on May 25.  He’ll speak at a Memorial Day event in Marana on May 27.
·        LD20 Sen Kimberly Lee received the 2013 Legislator of the Year Award from the  Arizona Optometrick Association this week in Tucson.
·        LD14 Sen Gail Griffin Presented Arizona’s Official Historian Marshall Trimble with a bronze statue of the storied Buffalo Soldier after he spoke May 19 at the Fort Huachuca Historical Society Museum.  Griffin recently sponsored a bill making a National Day of the Cowboy an official Arizona state holiday beginning in July

·        Joseph Patrick Mikitish and Jay Ryan Adleman appointed to the Maricopa County Superior Court by Gov. Jan Brewer: Mikitish has worked for the Arizona Attorney General’s Office since 2001, and has served as Unit Chief since 2007. Previously, he practiced at Beshears Muchmore Wallwork (2000-01); served as an Assistant Attorney General at the Arizona Attorney General’s Arizona (1996-2000); worked for Fennemore Craig (1992-96); and served as an Arizona Supreme Court Clerk (1991-92). Mikitish graduated magna cum laude from University of Arizona Law School (1991). He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arizona (1988), where he served as a student Regent his senior year. He has been licensed to practice law in Arizona since 1991. Mikitish fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Michael R. McVey.     
Adleman has been as a Maricopa County Court Commissioner since 2011. Adleman worked for Jones, Skelton & Hochuli (2006-11); the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (2001-06); Teilborg, Sanders & Parks (1999-2001); and as a Clerk for the Arizona Court of Appeals (1998-99). Adleman twice received the Trial Division Attorney of the Month Award in 2004 and 2005. He also was appointed by the Office to a special task force designed to improve gun-related prosecutions (2003-05).Adleman graduated cum laude from University of Arizona Law School (1998). He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona (1995), where he earned an Arizona Board of Regents Scholarship all four years. He has been licensed to practice law in Arizona since 1998. Adleman was made to fill the opening created by the appointment of Judge Eddward P. Ballinger, Jr., to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.
·        The AZ Senate Passage Of The Governor’s Medicaid Expansion Plan Remains A Hot Topic.  In some circles, candidates are already being sought to replace GOP Senators Rich Crandall -LD16; Bob Worsley - LD 25; Adam Driggs - LD 28; John McComish - LD18; Steve Pierce - LD1 And Michele Reagan - LD23 who voted with the Dems to pass the expansion.  Crandall, Worsley, McComish, Pierce and Reagan went against their LDs resolution opposing the expansion. McComish has reportedly voted with the Dems 18 times this session
