·        The Public Is Invited To Attend The Battle Of Midway 71st Commemoration scheduled between 10 am and 11:30 am, June 7 at the Historic Senate Chamber, Arizona Capitol Museum - Third Floor of the Arizona Capitol Museum, 1700 W. Washington St., Phx. Free admission and parking. Open to the public.  The Commanding Officer of the Navy Operational Support Center, Phoenix & Navy Recruiting District Phoenix will host the event to honor those sailors, soldiers, marines, and airmen that sacrificed so much and many that gave their all to our Nations Freedom, during one of the Navy's historic Pacific Campaigns.  The Battle of Midway – June 4-7, 1942. Speakers include: Rear Admiral James Symonds, Commanding Officer of USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and Commander Navy Region Northwest; Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett, Captain Michael DeWitt, Commanding Officer Navy Operational Support Center.
The Battle of Midway is often called the turning point of the war in the Pacific; the Battle of Midway was fought over a small dot of sand and coral in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that the Japanese high command considered essential to their conquest and control of the Pacific. With the capture of Midway Atoll, the Japanese Navy sought to lure the American Navy's aircraft carriers to their annihilation in open battle and finish the job they started at Pearl Harbor. Vastly outnumbered, the American Navy was able to pull off a surprise of their own.

In truth, Santa Anna’s assault against the Alamo was mostly to do with confiscating the Texans’ firearms. The battle at the Alamo was, in fact, Travis and Crockett’s response to Santa Anna’s attempted gun confiscation. As with America’s separation from Great Britain, the Texas patriots drew their line in the sand (literally) over the issue of gun Pastor Chuck Baldwin
