·        US House Rep. Trent Franks, David Schweikert, Matt Salmon And Paul Gosar Have Sent A Letter To Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin, urging him to debate and vote on the union reform bills currently proposed in the legislature. As of today, Tobin is still holding these bills. The logic (excuse?) Tobin seems to be using is to wait and see if the AZ Senate passes any union reform bills. ·        SB1403- Anti-Agenda 21 bill passed through its first committee with a 4-3 vote today. Sponsor Sen. Judy Burges received loud applause for what some are calling one of her best speeches ever. 

·        Compact For America Legislation Failed In The Arizona House Rules Committee 6 Nays to 3 Ayes.

·        Congressman Matt Salmon Will Give A National Update on current legislation and political activities in DC. to the Chandler Republican Women at 7 pm, Feb. 19 at the Boys & Girls Club of Chandler. ·        The AFP-Arizona’s Debate On The Obamacare Medicaid Expansion will take place from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Feb 21 at the Goldwater Institute. Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute, Goldwater Institute health care policy analyst Christina Corieri, and Phoenix surgeon Jeff Singer will take on any three pro-expansion advocates who want to debate these issues publicly. ·        Ray Spitzer is urging AZ residents to write letters to the CEO’s of Republic advertisers, informing them that they will not do business with a company that advertises in the “propaganda tool of the leftists.” 
“What is important is that these advertisers realize that Arizonans in large numbers are fed up with this leftist rag and they are going to pay a price for giving them money,” Spitzer emphasized in a recent e-mail. ·        AZ Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) moving: HB 2455 passed out of the House Public Safety, Military and Regulatory Affairs (PSMRA) Committee by a 5 to 3 vote. HB 2234, 2433 and 2554 are on the Feb. 20 PSMRA agenda.  
ü  HB 2234 is an AzCDL-requested bill that would standardize the definition of firearms in ARS 13-105 and remove duplicate and/or conflicting definitions in other statutes.
ü  HB 2433 would eliminate the statutory age cap (currently 45 years old) on who is a member of the state militia (i.e., all able-bodied citizens capable of bearing arms).
ü  HB 2554 is an AzCDL-requested bill that would require operators of public property, wishing to ban weapons, to restrict access to the property and provide armed guards and metal detectors as well as storage lockers. If an operator of a public building does not comply with the security requirements, the prohibition of firearms would not be enforceable.

·        Feb 22 Is The Last Day For Bills To Be Heard In Their Assigned Committees. The next stop for bills that have passed out of their assigned committees is the Rules Committee. From there, they go to the full House or Senate for hearings and votes before being sent over to the other chamber. We may need to call upon you again to contact your legislators at any point in this process.
