·       The Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) Will Host A Panel Discussion on "The Future of the Republican Party" at the 7 pm Dec 5, monthly Executive Guidance Committee meeting at AZGOP Headquarters, 3501 N. 24th St., Phx. Panelists will be Republican leaders from "all walks of life" that represent the varying demographics and opinions of the Arizona Republican Party, according to MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro. They are:

ü  Vera Anderson - National Tea Party Patriots State Coordinator

ü  Jose Borrajero - Arizona Latino Republican Association communication Director

ü  Clyde Bowen - Arizona American African Republican Committee President

ü  Lilia Dashevsky - Arizona TeenAge Republicans Chairman

ü  Jeff Greenspan, Reprsentative, The Liberty Caucus

ü  Scott O’Connor - LD28 Republican Committee Chairman

ü  Laddie Shane - Young Republican Activist

ü  Lori Urban - Paradise Republican Women’s Club President

ü  Barry Wong - AZGOP American Asian Outreach Chairman

Each panelist will have three minutes for opening comments, followed by 30 minutes of panel discussion, winding up with 23 minutes for questions from the floor.

The AZGOP videographers Mark Naufel or Anthy Janssen will record the discussion for posting.

Open to registered Republicans. Identification required for admittance. 

Seating is limited and first come first serve.  Please arrive between 5:30pm and 6:00pm.

·       Laddie Shane, Chairman Of The Credentials And Nominations Committee for the Jan 25, 2014 AZGOP Mandatory meeting needs:

ü  the names of nominees for the first, second and third vice chairman, assistant secretary, assistant treasurer, sergeant-at-arms and assistant sergeant-at-arms by 5 pm, Dec. 15.

ü  each legislative district and county chairman to send him a list of their state committeemen in excel format by 5 pm, Dec 15.

ü  Two volunteers from each LD in Maricopa and Pima counties, and two from the rest of the counties by Jan 5 for credentials tables.

·       There Is Lots Of Chatter The Past Couple Of Weeks about LD21 Rep Debbie Lesko’s announcement to challenge LD21 Senator Rick Murphy for his senate seat.  Who will be stepping forth to run for Lesko’s representative seat.

·       According to Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson, a recent study done by DataGenetics revealed that the most commonly-used credit card PIN is still 1234, with 1111 and 0000 coming in second and third.  “It is so important that people take the time to come up with passwords and pins that cannot be easily hacked by those wishing to do harm,” said Johnson, one of the vice chairmen of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Cyber Security Taskforce.  Research has revealed that one in 10 credit card pins are so obvious it would take criminals just one attempt to guess it correctly, while more than 25% of the codes are used so often they can be guessed in fewer than 20 attempts.  See tips protecting-against-credit-card-fraud

 

·       Gov Jan Brewer Has Announced Her Creation Of An Independent Child Advocate Response Examination Team (CARE Team) that is charged with providing oversight for the investigations of cases that were designated as “not investigated” by Arizona Child Protective Services (CPS). The independent CARE Team also will examine the CPS system to identify areas of concern. The review will include consideration of personnel, operations, processes, and policies. Once areas of improvement are identified, the team will submit a summary of its finding to Governor Brewer.

The CARE Team is chaired by Charles Flanagan, Director of the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections. Other team members include Sen Leah Landrum Taylor; Rep Kate Brophy McGee; Robert Bell, Children’s Justice Coordinator at the Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona; Cindi Nannetti, a veteran prosecutor with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office; Deb Gullett, child advocate and former legislator; Greg McKay, Chief of the Office of Child Welfare Investigations (OCWI); Jan Strauss, a former Mesa Police Chief; and a CPS representative (TBA).

 

·       Secretary Of State Ken Bennett’s office is conducting free campaign finance workshops throughout the state. See schedule http://www.azsos.gov/cfs/Campaign_finance_workshops.htm

 

·       Mohave County Will Receive About $86,000 in federal funding for local emergency and shelter programs.  “This money is distributed annually by the federal governments to counties based on the total number of unemployed residents in the area.  Mohave County’s unemployment rate at the time of their decision was eleven percent,” Supervisor Buster Johnson stated. 

 

·       LD23 Chairman Doug Little Will Announce his candidacy for the Arizona Corporation Commission between  6-9 pm, Dec 4 at the Centro Bar at Montelucia Resort, 4949 E. Lincoln Dr.,  Paradise Valley.  Appetizers will be served. No host bar.  RSVP here

·       The U.S. Fish And Wildlife Service Has Scheduled Public Hearings at 3:30 and again at 6 pm, Dec 3 at the Hon-Dah Conference Center, 7777 Hwy 260 in Pinetop on two proposed rules—one to list the Mexican wolf as an endangered subspecies and delist the gray wolf elsewhere, and the other to revise the Nonessential Experimental Population of the Mexican Wolf.  Comment period deadlines also are extended until Dec 17, 2013 to allow these hearings to take place within the public comment periods on the proposed rules.  A formal notice of these hearings are listed in the Oct 28 Federal Register:    www.fws.gov/home/wolfrecovery
