·         The Maricopa County Republican West Office, 99th Ave/Bell Road, will be closed the week of Dec 23-27.  It will also be closed Jan 1-3. 

 

·         Tempe Republican Women will not be meeting on Mon, Dec 23. Their next meeting is Jan 27. New President: Darryl Jacobson-Barnes allstaragency@juno.com

·         LD20 Will Not Meet Dec 23. Chairman Ray Malnar says LD20 will resume in February due to the January County/State Mandatory meetings. Contact Malnar: Raymalnar.gop@cox.net

·         The Pima GOP Headquarters will be closed from 1 pm, Dec 20 until Jan 2, 2014.


·         Volunteers are needed to help staff the Jan 11 Maricopa County Republican Mandatory meeting. 
  1.  Proxy Check: 12 – 18 people with laptop computers (Windows based).  Contact:  George Teegarden (gteegarden@tgasd.com)
  2. Tally:  20 people to work at each polling machine. (check credential tag and mark tag), Contact:  Tom Husband (tfhusband@aol.com)
  3.  Set-up /Tear-down:  30 – 40 people (half for friday night before the event, half for saturday afternoon after the event) Contact:  Joe Hobbs (joseph.hobbs@cox.net)
  4.  Parking / Security: 15 – 20 people to arrive early, wear reflective vests, put up traffic cones, carry flashlights to direct traffic into facility and parking area.  Also, to stand outside various doors of building an direct attendees to proper entrance.  Parking Volunteers are preferably not PC’s, so that they do not miss registration.)  Contact: Curt Miller( calvaryman003@gmail.com)
  5.  INFO Booth:  10 people to work table outdoors to provide directions to those attending and arriving from the parking lot (7-9 am)  Contact:  Loraine Pellegrino, enloda@aol.com 
  6. Packet Stuffing:  50 – 75 at AZ GOP HQ on Saturday, 1/4/2014, at 1pm, to stuff ballots, memorials, agenda, flyers into packets for the following Saturday’s meeting!

·         The City Of Phoenix Is Looking For Volunteers to serve on the Deer Valley, Rio Vista Village, North Gateway and North Mountain Village Planning Committees.  You must reside in those villages with District 1 to service. Applications at:  http://phoenix.gov/pdd/pz/vpcomm.html.

·         The Arizona American African Republican Committee will host the 2nd Annual Emancipation Proclamation Observance at 1 pm, Jan 1, 2014 in Eastlake Park, 16th Street and East Jefferson, Phx. The 151st anniversary of the signing by President Abraham Lincoln. Festivities begins at noon with a picnic. Voter registration will be available – identification required.  Political speakers will be in attendance. The official Centennial Buffalo Soldiers – AZ Territories will perform.  In 1913, a fort in the Huachuca Mountains became home to the 10th Cavalry, also known as the Buffalo Soldiers. The Buffalo Soldiers were an African-American unit that served while the Army was segregated. By the time the Buffalo Soldiers were stationed at what became Fort Huachuca, the Apache Wars were over, but the Buffalo Soldiers served under Gen. John "Blackjack" Pershing during his expedition into Mexico, and guarded the border during World War I. ·         Applications Are Available For The June-July National Federation Of Republican Women ‘Dorothy Andrews Kabis Intership’ In Washington, DC. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, undergraduate college students age 21 and over, having completed high school but not yet graduated from college. Applicants should have a general knowledge of government and a keen interest in politics and skills adaptable to a busy office. The internship provides housing in the D.C. metropolitan area and round-trip airfare. A small monetary allowance is given. Interns must pay for meals, daily travel to and from the office and any tourism. Applicants must submit required documents to their State Federation president, Mary Williams, and each State submits applications to the NFRW. ·         The AZGOP's 2014 Mandatory Meeting will be held Jan 25 at Grace Community Church, 1200 E Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ 85282 with registration starting at 7:30 am and Call to Order at 9 am. Details for candidates and vendors are here.
·         Conservative Student Leaders: Opportunities at AZGOP for Spring Semester. The AZGOP has launched a youth leadership initiative to encourage the next generation of Arizona political leaders and introduce them to the operations and campaign work of the state party leading up to the election in 2014, according to Chairman Robert Graham.  The program will pay a stipend and involve hiring up to five students for the Spring semester to coordinate each of the AZGOP's leadership initiatives: Fundraising, Community Outreach, Marketing, New Media, and Political Outreach.
