·       Resolution #14 reads: Resolution to Save the United State Constitution – 2014 meeting:

ü  WHEREAS the risk exists that any new convention or conference of the states could result in our current constitution being replaced by a new constitution,

ü  WHEREAS U. S. Chief Justice Warren Burger confirmed “there is no legal way to limit or muzzle the actions of a constitutional convention”, and

ü  WHEREAS the delegates of the original convention were men of God, letters, honor, patriots and visionaries, and

ü  WHEREAS No One Has Any Idea Who The Delegates Will Be To The Next Constitutional convention or who will select them, and

ü  WHEREAS James Madison himself stated that any new convention “would no doubt contain individuals of insidious views, who, under the mask of seeking alterations popular in some parts…might have the dangerous opportunity of sapping the very foundations of the fabric….”,  therefore

ü  BE IT RESOLVED that the Maricopa County Republican Committee completely opposes any form of call for a constitutional convention under any name, including an “Article V” convention or an “amendment” convention, “conference” of the states or by any other name, and

ü  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Maricopa County Republican Committee calls on and admonishes all state legislators to oppose any call, resolution or bill calling for such a convention or conference, and

ü  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Maricopa County Republican Committee calls on Arizona’s federal and state delegations to uphold their oaths of office to suppose and defend the constitution, rather than support efforts that violate it, or risk it being disposed or and replaced.

·       Today, Congressman Matt Salmon Released The Following Statement on the death of former Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon:  “Israel has lost a courageous soldier and bold leader today. Ariel Sharon was a strong and fearless leader who cared deeply for his country and fought hard to ensure its vibrant future. He was a staunch defender of liberty who I had the opportunity to meet while he was a Cabinet official and, again, while he was Prime Minister. As a staunch defender of liberty he sought a peace that was meaningful during his time leading his country. Sharon was a stalwart and a clear voice for the people of Israel. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and with the nation of Israel.”
