·       John McCain On Senate Floor "War Powers Act Of 2014". Give Power To President Without Congressional Approval.  Senator John McCain on the Senate floor January 16, 2014. Introducing a Bill "War Powers Act of 2014". It would give the President of the United States the Power to go to War at Will without Congressional Approval. In other words, erase the Democracy of the United States and Constitution and give the President Dictatorial Powers to invade and bomb any country he wants.

·       MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro: Responding To Comments Made This Week By Sen John McCain Backers regarding the passage of the county and state ‘Censure McCain Resolutions’, Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman LaFaro stated today, “Based on the responses from the diminishing number of John McCain supporters - they are either in denial, senile or lying to public again. It’s unfortunate liberal individuals like John McCain, Jon Kyl, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Fred Duval, and Duval’s campaign manager Grant Woods - who is a Republican – would use Saul Alinsky tactics to try silencing the millions of people in Arizona and America who disagree with them on the critical issues and their progressive socialist bullying tactics.  The censure and the people who support it have never used demeaning or derogatory terms or phrases like John McCain and his few public supporters.”

·       Maricopa County Republican Committee Chairman A.J. LaFaro has announced the Feb 12 PC Day at the Capitol has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond MCRC control. He hopes to revive the event next year.

LaFaro emphasized, “It is it is extremely important that precinct committeemen and patriotic conservatives who are actively engaged, or want to engage,  in the Arizona legislative process through the Request To Speak (RTS) System  go to the Capitol and create a new account at either the Senate or House Buildings.”

If you can't get to the Capitol to get this done, LaFaro advises that PCs e-mail Jose Borrajero, MCRC's 2nd Vice Chairman and founder of the Arizona Rapid Response Team (AZRRT), at  with your name and e-mail address and he will be glad to go to the Capitol and create an account for you.  If anyone is interesting in assisting Borrajero during business hours, please contact him at

Also contact Tracy Langston,  Arizona Director for the Center for Self Governance (CSG).  The CSG has a proven training curriculum that teaches activists how to effectively work with elected officials and policy makers at all levels of our government.  Tracy can be reached at 480-529-1123 to answer questions and/or enroll you in one of the CSG training courses.

·       Former AZ Attorney General Grant Woods posted this on Facebook Sunday: “This should be shown in every journalism school annually, and in every newsroom.”   So right Woods is! See: 30 for 30 Shorts: Judging Jewell  On July 27, 1996, a terrorist's bomb exploded in a crowded Centennial Olympic Park during the Atlanta Olympic Games. The death toll might have been far higher if not for security guard Richard Jewell, who hours after his heroism was called a murderer… The story of an innocent whose life was destroyed by wrongful assumptions of his guilt.

·       On Tuesday, Congressman Paul Gosar  voted in favor of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R.7), which passed the House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 227-188. He said, “Legislation that permanently outlaws taxpayer-funded abortion is long overdue. Americans across the country worry that, if certain laws aren’t reauthorized every year, their hard-earned money could be used to pay for the execution of unborn babies through abortion. This bill will finally make the temporary laws that prevent taxpayer-funded abortion permanent. I was proud to vote for this life-saving legislation.”  Click HERE to read more.

·       On Friday, Congressman Paul Gosar Announced co-sponsorship of the Stop This Overreaching Presidency (STOP) Resolution (H.Res.442), which would direct the House of Representatives to compel the President, through legal action, to comply with the law. Gosar said, “The fact that we were forced to introduce legislation to judicially compel the President to comply with the laws of the land is incredibly sad. One expects imperial behavior in countries ruled by dictators but not in the United States of America, which was once known worldwide as a beacon of freedom and hope. From President Obama’s capricious one-year delay in the ObamaCare employer mandate to his arbitrary decision to grant deferred removal action to illegal immigrants, his transgressions against the Constitution are egregious and must stop.”  Click HERE .

Internationally renowned writer Trevor Loudon will address the Tea Party Patriots and the Daisy Mountain Tea Party Patriots at 6:30 pm, Feb 18 at the  North Gate Church, 34835 N. 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85086 (Carefree Hwy, No. 1 blk on 7th St).  Chairman Vera Anderson   602-821-4675

·       Congressman Paul Gosar Voted Against The Flawed Farm Bill (H.R.2642). “This is the second bill this month that was brought to the House floor for a vote less than 48 hours after it was introduced. At 959 pages, this bill is too long for anyone to read and digest in such a short time frame. This is a negative pattern that can't become a habit. We must reverse this trend,” Gosar said. ·       The status and summaries of firearms related bills that AzCDL is monitoring can be found on Bill Tracking page.

ü  At this point important pro-rights bills are on track.  We thank everyone who contacted Representative Justin Pierce about his bill, HB 2322, which would have made people charged (but not convicted) with certain crimes prohibited possessors.  Rep. Pierce said he has received hundreds of your emails about HB 2322 and has assured us the bill will not progress without ensuring Arizona’s law abiding gun owners are protected.

At the end of the third week of the 2014 legislative session, over 150 new bills have been filed.  Among them are a handful of firearms bills.  In the “What were they thinking?” category are the following.

ü  Representative Juan Mendez filed HB 2518 which would negate justification of the use of deadly force statutes if you leave a “place of safety” (undefined) to pursue someone engaged in a “lawful activity” (undefined) or if a law enforcement officer requests that you retreat to a “place of safety” .  So if a law enforcement officer, who is not present on the scene, advises you to retreat to your home or car for your own safety, and, while attempting to do so, some event occurs that prevents you from doing so, Rep. Mendez’s bill would remove any justification for your subsequent act of self-defense, and turn you into the criminal.  Why wou ld any legislator craft a law that requires people to retreat in the face of danger when they may not have the option? What if the criminal decides not to cooperate with the officers’ instructions?  Whose side are these people on?

ü  Representative Victoria Steele filed HB 2542 which would require you to keep your firearms unloaded and locked away if someone under 18 might be able to gain access to them.  And, if some young gangbanger steals your firearm that is not locked up, you have committed a misdemeanor.  If they injure themselves or another with your firearm, you are guilty of a felony.  Why would Rep. Steele sponsor a bill that treats young thugs like victims and turns law-abiding citizens into felons?

ü  Senator Steve Pierce filed SB 1266 which would exempt judicial officials (e.g., judges) from many of the weapons misconduct laws, which include possessing or transferring prohibited weapons, possessing a defaced firearm (one where the serial numbers have been removed), and carrying a weapon into public buildings or events, school yards, polling places and power generating facilities.  While state law prohibits you from having your firearm handy when dropping off your children at school, under Senator Pierce’s bill, a judge could walk into your kids’ classroom carrying a defaced, sawed-off shotgun.  Why do judges need this kind of special treatment?  They work i n buildings where weapons are banned and are surrounded by armed guards.  They have the protection of Constitutional Carry and can obtain a CCW permit like any other law-abiding citizen.
