·       Arizona Congressmen Matt Salmon And David Schweikert are among the 18 (out of 450) receiving a 100% ranking from the American Conservative Union this week. See complete ranking at ACU 2013 Ratings of Congress guide  or

·       Attorney General Tom Horne announced today that the Arizona Department of Corrections (DOC) has changed its lethal injection protocol to allow for the additional use of a two-drug protocol using Medazolam and Hydromorphone in carrying out executions. Arizona, like other states, has chosen lethal injection as the method to conduct executions and for this very reason DOC uses, and therefore needs, the appropriate drugs to carry out the death sentence placed upon defendants who are convicted of murder. The two-drug protocol has already been used in Ohio, and Arizona will be using an even greater concentration. Because of Arizona’s confidentiality law (A.R.S. § 13-757(C)) the compound pharmacist and/or company that provides these drugs to the Arizona Department of Corrections will remain confidential.

·       Congressman Trent Franks:  “The United States has turned a blind eye to Saudi Arabia’s abysmal human rights record for far too long.  The overwhelmingly bipartisan and widespread support of our letter to President Obama demonstrates how critical human rights and religious freedom are to our foreign policy objectives. When President Obama travels to Saudi Arabia at the end of this week, he will have a unique opportunity to combine symbolic actions with direct support for human rights reform.  We urge the President to meet with women activists who have courageously challenged the country’s ban on women drivers and with prominent peaceful human rights advocates who are imprisoned.  If the Obama Administration has previously raised human rights concerns through private channels, Saudi Arabia’s continued human rights record—among the most repressive in the world—reveals their unwillingness to reform.  Now is the time to publically demonstrate U.S. support for those in Saudi Arabia who are taking such risks to advance fundamental rights in their society.”

·       Sen John McCain: “I am proud to receive the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for my strong support of pro-growth, pro-jobs legislation in Congress. Whether it is working to repeal and replace Obamacare, fighting for lower taxes and less regulation, or reforming our broken immigration system to better serve our economy, I will continue to support policies that will grow our economy and create jobs for hard-working Arizonans.”   Award here.

·       The City Of Prescott Will Be Celebrating Sesquicentennial (150th Birthday) the weekend of May 30th to June 1, 2014. The Celebration will start with a formal ceremony and proclamation at 5 pm on the north side of Courthouse Plaza on Friday afternoon followed by a 150′ birthday cake and music. Details tba.

·       Sen John McCain:   “The number of unilateral delays and changes made by this administration to Obamacare – a law written exclusively by Democrats – is almost beyond parody. Everyone understands why the March 31st deadline is being extended indefinitely: the administration is doing everything it can possibly do to meet the goal of enrolling seven million individuals into the exchanges. So despite frequent statements by top administration officials that the individual mandate would absolutely not be delayed, this announcement should not come as a surprise. Given the Obama Administration’s lack of respect for the rule of law, it is no wonder why Americans increasingly oppose Obamacare and the Democrats’ ‘leadership’ in Washington.”

·       A "Meet And Greet" For Diane Douglas, candidate for Supt of Public Instruction, is scheduled at 6:30 pm, April 18 at Burke Basic School, 131 E Southern Ave,(between Center St. and Mesa Dr.), Mesa.

·       Sen Steve Pierce: With the AIMS test in its last year it is critical that Arizona schools receive the necessary funding for the new assessment - Arizona's College & Career Ready Standards.  Without an assessment we cannot measure either our students or our schools.  Without a means to measure performance we cannot adjust or improve our schools when necessary.  The current budget proposal provides the assessment with only $8 million, an amount well under the requested $13.5 million and an amount that leaves our students and our schools severely lacking. – Contact:

·       AG candidate Mark Brnovich: The need for a strong Attorney General to fight back against the overreach of the Obama Administration is now greater than ever. Whether it be Obamacare, the EPA, or private property rights, the Attorney General is the last line of defense against the abusive overreach of the federal government.
