·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs is promising to end the "Obamanization of Arizona" as part of his plan for the fiscal solvency and economic revitalization. "Common Core and the Obamacare Medicaid expansion infringe on Arizona's constitutional responsibilities for K-12 education and indigent health care. And the costs to implement and comply with these federal mandates will compound the state's structural budget deficit, which left unchecked, will balloon into billions of dollars,” Riggs said. "We all know that Obamacare is fundamentally flawed and not actuarially sustainable from an insurance standpoint. When it's ultimately repealed and replaced with a market choice system, we'll still be left with Medicaid expansion.  Furthermore, it's disingenuous of supporters of Obamacare to intimate that the federal funds for Medicaid expansion are in a sense 'free' - and Arizona would be foolish to refuse the federal funds - when Arizonans obviously pay federal taxes, and will have to bear a share of the national debt to cover Medicaid expansion in Arizona and other states. At the end of the day, Arizona has to balance its budget and the Feds do not, which is why we have an obscene national debt that threatens the future of our kids and grandkids.  My administration will be financially responsible and address Arizona’s fiscal challenges.  Deficits are exploding and the middle class is disappearing.  We need new Republican leadership with the proven ability and courage to make the tough but right decisions vital to Arizona's future," Riggs concluded.

·       As part of National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW), Attorney General Tom Horne reminds consumers to “just hang up” on telemarketing scammers. Every year, consumers lose thousands of dollars by paying fraudulent telemarketers for products or services that are never received, business opportunities that fail to produce income, or lotteries that provide no payout. “Telemarketing fraud is a pervasive and devastating problem that makes victims out of innocent consumers, especially seniors.” said Horne. The AG’s Office has obtained judgments against several individuals and businesses that tried to sell, via telemarketing, webstores or “webmalls,” promising consumers they could earn substantial incomes from sales of products made from their websites. If you have been a victim of telemarketing fraud or other deceptive or unfair business practices, you may file a consumer complaint with the online Questions or request a complaint form, contact the Consumer Information & Complaints Unit at (602) 542-5763 (Phoenix)/ (520) 628-6504 (Tucson) / or toll free outside metro Phoenix, (800) 352-8431.

·       Congress Matt Salmon On Ukrainian Loan Guarantee Package: “America has a strong tradition of defending itself and its allies against the incursions of those who seek to destroy the values of individual liberty and representative government. We understand that a threat to liberty “over there” is a threat to liberty everywhere. Because we understand this, we must remain ready to aid those who truly need our help in their pursuit of freedom. This is especially important when they are threatened by expansive, oligarchic regimes like Mr. Putin’s Russia.

In America’s war for independence, the early colonists were in desperate need of even the most basic of resources. While our forefathers had a passion for liberty and a fighting spirit in full measure, they were going to need more than that in order to defeat the greatest empire of their time. It was only after they obtained multiple loans from the French that they were able to successfully gain their independence and establish the greatest nation the world has ever known. That is why I supported the legislation today to provide Ukraine with a loan guarantee package to help stabilize the new, pro-Western government of our ally, Ukraine.  It is important to note, that this is not new funding and instead will be drawn from an existing pool of funds already available to the Administration.

While I’m frustrated that the Administration’s policy of indecision and weak international leadership has led us to this point, we have an opportunity to support our Ukrainian allies who are fighting to protect their sovereignty from an aggressive neighborhood bully.  Russia’s decision to invade the Crimea region of Ukraine is unacceptable and threatens the security of our NATO allies.  The U.S. and our European partners must stand united against the flagrant disregard for international law.”
