·       The Arizona Game and Fish Commission voted unanimously today (April 22) to support an alternative developed by 28 cooperating agencies and stakeholders for the non-essential population rule that governs Mexican wolf conservation in Arizona and New Mexico. The proposal, which has an unprecedented level of stakeholder support, is being submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) for consideration in its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). While still conceptual, the alternative is scientifically-based and would further cooperation between federal and state agencies and stakeholders to achieve a self-sustaining wolf population. Key elements of the alternative include:

·       Allowing up to triple the target number of Mexican wolves in the Southwest from the 1982 recovery plan's goal of not less than 100 wolves to achieve a self-sustaining population.

·       Major expansion of the area where wolves can be released to include the Secondary Recovery Zone.

·       Expansion of the area where Mexican wolves can disperse and establish territories.

·       Establishment of a connectivity corridor for wolves to disperse to the species' core historical range in Mexico.

·       Recognition of the importance of Mexico as a primary element to successful Mexican wolf recovery.

"The biggest impediment to the Mexican wolf reintroduction effort in the Southwest isn't biologically-based. It's social tolerance for an apex predator on today's modern landscape that must support such a wide variety of conservation, recreation and economic uses. This alternative represents the first time such a broad-based group has come together for Mexican wolf conservation, and it goes a long ways to enhancing social tolerance and, in turn, successful conservation of the species," says J.W. Harris, chairman of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission.

·       CD9 Candidate Andrew Walter: The Washington, D.C. media outlet The Hill reported today that Kyrsten Sinema is asking for another extension of the enrollment period for Obamacare.  Congresswoman Sinema refuses to acknowledge that this disastrous legislation is a failure and the dismal enrollment numbers prove it.The law that Sinema recently said is "fundamentally good" still fails to generate sufficient enrollment and continues to increase spending to unsustainable levels.Obamacare's failure isn't opinion.  It's fact.  There are more Americans uninsured now than in 2009 prior to the bill's passage.  Numbers don't lie. I challenge Kyrsten Sinema to face the hard working Arizonans she has deceived and take responsibility for her broken promises.

·       CD3 Candidate Gabby Saucedo-Mercer: "Rep. Raul Grijalva's elitist sentiment shows how out of touch he is with the people, you, in CD3, and freedom loving Americans who are simply telling their government that enough is enough. Government is too big and it is out of control. Grijalva's views and statements are so typical of career progressive politicians who will fight against the people they are supposed to represent...and Americans across the country are fed-up. The Federal Government is acting tyrannical, and some of our politicians are supporting it, like Nevada's own Harry Reid, and Raul Grijalva." We the people...must demand that our government adhere to our US Constitution. ALEC is an organization who exercises its free speech rights, just as the Goldwater Institute and other organizations do. It is called the First Amendment, something a Democrat like Grijalva does not understand, except when he speaks. |

·       Center For Arizona Policy President Cathi Herrod: “Governor Jan Brewer has established a strong record as a leader who stands for foundational principles. Yet it is most disappointing that she would veto legislation that would ensure all churches are treated equally with regard to property taxes – no matter how large or small their budget. Although Governor Brewer signed an identical policy into law for charter schools in 2009, yesterday she denied the same benefit to churches, which would have had a much smaller fiscal impact.HB 2281 garnered bipartisan support because it ensured there is equity in how church property taxes are assessed. Under the Arizona Constitution, churches that own their property are exempt from property taxes. But unfortunately, churches that rent do not receive this same benefit. HB 2281 would have fixed this inequity by extending this benefit to these churches. While the budget impact on our state would be negligible, the help this bill would have provided to the churches that serve our state would have been significant. Furthermore, the mechanisms used to ensure this policy could not be abused by landlords are currently in use by charter schools who receive a similar benefit. The only organization that signed in opposed to the bill was the “Secular Coalition for Arizona,” which partners with “Americans United for Separation of Church and State” – the very organization that sued Governor Brewer for proclaiming the Arizona Day of Prayer. It is truly disappointing that the Governor has vetoed this important bill that would have served those who serve our communities.”

·        RNC Chairman Reince Priebus joined the hosts of FNC’s “Fox and Friends” to discuss Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s unethical behavior. View transcript excerpts below and watch the clip here.

·        Transcript Excerpts:

·        Priebus on Harry Reid’s Abuse of Power:  There is a whole list of ethics rules that senators and congressman and house members have to comply with…under Senate rule 2, it says that senators have to use taxpayer money without spending it on political purposes. So, we're alleging that it's an improper use of taxpayer money when Harry Reid uses a couple things improperly.

·        Priebus Discusses Reid’s Unethical Behavior in Attacking Republicans: He doesn't use a separate web site and a separate Twitter account for these attacks. So he's clearly using staff, taxpayer money, resources, a website, and computer equipment to launch partisan campaign attacks on the taxpayers' money…These are things that most cases, believe it or not, in Washington that senators have a different web site and a different Twitter account to launch these partisan attacks.

·        Priebus on the LA GOP Letter and RNC Action :Where it stands now is it's in the Senate Ethics Committee and we're going to take it as far as we can in order to make sure that people understand that this guy will stop at nothing to lie to the American people…Look, Harry Reid brings this stuff on himself…Harry Reid is so dirty and so unethical that some of these things have to happen. You have to put a marker down and say, wait a second. You are not going to use a taxpayer web site and a taxpayer Twitter account to attack Republicans…I think it’s our job to do it.
