·       Congressman Matt Salmon: “I applaud House leadership for moving forward to appoint a select committee to investigate the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of four United States citizens. I have long advocated for a select committee to investigate this tragedy because time and time again we have seen the Administration attempt to hide emails and witnesses, intimidate whistleblowers, and fail to fully answer questions. By establishing a select committee, we will stop the current Administration from continuing to hinder justice by hiding the truth, just as we have seen them do with Operation Fast and Furious. For the sake of the families of the victims who were murdered and the safety and security of all Americans serving abroad, we must have answers and full accountability so this never happens again.” Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) is a cosponsor of the following legislation related to the attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya:

·       H. Res. 36, the establishing of a select congressional committee to fully investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

·       H.R. 1768, the Accountability Review Board Reform Act of 2013

·       Congressman Rep. David Schweikert in response to House Speaker John Boehner’s announcement to create a select committee to investigate the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi: “I strongly support Speaker Boehner’s announcement to create a select committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack. For over two years, the White House has systematically lied and mislead Congress and the American people regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi. The families of those who died in the attack deserve to know what happened to their loved ones and I hope this committee can uncover the reason our Administration felt the need to sweep this tragedy under a rug.” Schweikert co-sponsored H.Res. 36 in early 2013. H.Res. 36 is  a resolution to select a committee specifically charged to investigate and report on the attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Schweikert was also one of the first to sign a discharge petition for Resolution 36.  Contact: Maggie Zehring

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs:  At its heart, Common Core, or as it's been renamed in Arizona, College and Career-Ready Standards, is a philosophical question.  Do you believe in federally mandated standards and testing for K-12 students in Arizona schools or should that be a responsibility of state and local government?  By adopting the Common Core mandate in Arizona, we have abdicated our responsibility for determining the appropriate educational standards for teaching our kids and the assessments for measuring their academic progress. I favor the repeal of Common Core, but according to the Arizona Republic, my opponents Ken Bennett and Doug Ducey "have not said whether they would replace it."  That's hardly a profile in leadership. My many years of experience working with schools, including over a decade in Arizona, has taught me that we must empower the educators leading and teaching in our schools to make decisions about curriculum, budget, personnel, and standards and assessments.  That sense of ownership is absolutely crucial to accountability and to sustained academic improvement.  I will bring back local control over standards and assessments while protecting parental rights, school choice and charter school autonomy.

·        Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus on the April jobs report: “We’re happy that more Americans were able to find work last month, but more and more people are dropping out of our workforce—giving up on finding a job. These are men and women who desperately need work and want work, but with the same labor force lows from the Carter economy, there are simply no jobs for them. It’s an insult to Americans who are ready and willing to work that Democrats continue to block job-creating projects like the Keystone pipeline. It’s unacceptable that they’re taking their marching orders from left-wing activists like Tom Steyer and not doing everything possible to create more jobs. While the Republican-led House of Representatives has passed dozens of jobs bills, the do-nothing Democrat Senate just ignores them. It’s shameful that Democrats on the ballot this year prioritize placating their most extreme supporters over creating jobs for Americans. In addition to the unemployed, there are millions more who can’t find full-time jobs or who have given up on finding a job because the situation seems hopeless to them. ObamaCare is to blame for slashing workers’ hours, and its intrusive regulations, combined with Democrats’ anti-growth agenda, make it hard for businesses to hire new workers—no matter how much they want to.”
