·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs: On Memorial Day, we pause to remember and give eternal thanks to the men and women of country's military who've made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our liberties. Our military veterans have protected the world from tyranny. I'm proud to be part of their ranks as an Army veteran and salute our men and women in uniform around the world today. I hope you and yours enjoy the Memorial Day weekend while remembering the heroes who sacrificed their lives to keep our country - the last, best hope for mankind - free.

·       Senators John McCain And Jeff Flake today released the following statement on the President signing H.R. 862 into law. This enables the Forest Service to correct a mapping error that accidentally places several homes of the Mountianare community on national forest land. The affected homeowners may not have been able to rebuild if the Slide Fire damaged their homes because, due to this error, they technically do not own the land. The new law allows the homeowners to purchase the underlying federal land directly from the Forest Service. “With the Slide Fire still burning near Mountianare and surrounding homes, I’m grateful that the White House moved quickly to sign this bill into law,” said McCain. “We now call on the Administration to work with Coconino County to implement this law swiftly so that it will provide the affected communities with the protection intended under this law.”  “Today's signing puts the onus on the Forest Service to promptly implement this measure, closing the door on the unnecessary stress created by a half-century old surveying error,” said Flake. “Likewise, Congress must now shift its focus to quickly addressing the catastrophic wildfire epidemic plaguing the West."

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: When the employees of the VA are more concerned about concealing lengthy wait times than about caring for our veterans, it's obvious that the agency has a serious lack of accountability. In order to prevent deaths such as those that likely occurred due to negligence at the Phoenix VA from occurring again, Congress and President Obama must hold senior VA employees accountable when they are found to have committed acts of malfeasance and fail in their responsibility to provide timely and quality care for our veterans. To that end, I voted on Wednesday for the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act, which would allow for the Secretary of the VA to fire senior executives who are inept. Currently, these bureaucrats have so many protections that it is nearly impossible for them to be fired.Veterans fought honorably to protect this nation and our freedoms. Now it's our turn to fight for them. I will continue to seek answers about what exactly happened at the Phoenix VA and to take measures to ensure that veterans receive the care they were promised. Click HERE to read more.

·       Congressman David Schweikert: Over the last year we’ve heard of gross privacy violations by the federal government against American citizens. The United States is not a place for secretive laws and mass surveillance against innocent people. Months ago, the USA Freedom Act was a step forward in reforming our domestic surveillance activities to ensure that our Constitutional and civil rights are protected.  Regrettably, those reforms were not reflected in the bill we voted on this week (H.R.3361). We have a responsibility to protect the Constitution and hold leadership accountable for its actions. Sadly, this version no longer upholds the standards of individual privacy rights needed to ensure the highest degree of transparency and accountability the American people deserve.
