·       USA-Today-Pew-Poll-Midterm-Landscape-Tilts-To-GOP   This very recent USA Today/Pew Research Center Poll and article that is worth reading.  Gives some food for thought about the current pulse of American voters.    If we do take a majority in the Senate and gain ground in the House, coupled with Trey Gowdy's Benghazi Congressional investigation - then hopefully Congress will initiate the impeachment proceedings against Obama that should have already occurred.  Impeachment of Obama over Benghazi should destroy Clinton's chances at the Presidency.  - MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro

·       Congressman Trent Franks (CD8), a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the senior Republican member of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, appeared on Fox News this past weekend to discuss House Speaker John Boehner's decision to create a special committee to investigate the Obama Administration's mishandling of the terrorist attack in Benghazi, which led to the deaths of four Americans.  See interview: Franks On Special Committee On Benghazi

·       Food For Thought: All Kinds Of Allegations Continue To Surface regarding Attorney General Tom Horne, leaving voters trying to sift fact from political mudslinging. Here is a list of accomplishments  that one of his supporters provided, suggesting his accomplishments  are the real reason Dems/opponents are determined that he not be re-elected.  Hmmm.  Think about it??

·       Meanwhile Former MCRC Executive Director Tom Husband has been getting bashed for the words he penned regarding the LD15 poll that gave Rep Heather Carter a very poor rating.  Husband writes to the American Post-Gazette:  ‘You told me that the media would ignore the thumping Carter took in the LD15 Preference Poll unless they could criticize the author. So I wrote what I hoped would make them gasp and they took the bait, hook, line and sinker, as you predicted. Now, thanks to the press corps, the Republican voters in LD 15 had the opportunity to learn about the overwhelming vote (76 to 3) against Heather Carter by the Precinct Committeemen in her district. While they accuse me of comparing Carter to French female collaborators (I also compared our Precinct Committeemen to the French patriots), they obediently reported her miserable performance in the Poll. It couldn't have worked better even if it were planned. But then was.”

·       Christine Bauserman, Chair, Alliance of Principled Conservatives: “The State Court of Appeals ruled on April 22 that the Arizona Principled Republican Legislator’s can sue to stop OBrewercare, Governor Jan Brewer’s plan to bring the Obamacare Medicaid Expansion to Arizona.  The 36 Legislators say the process to pass Obrewercare is illegal. Last year Brewer called a Special Session and 9 House Republicans joined the Democrats to shove the Obamacare Medicaid Expansion down our throats.  The 36 Principled Republican Legislators sued because the people of Arizona have said that if you want to raise our taxes then we require a two-thirds majority not a simple majority.  (The AZ Constitution requires a two-third majority due to Proposition 108 which was passed in 2008.)  The Governor’s team tried to argue that the legislature itself could decide if and when they want to follow which parts of the Constitution.  Brewer says that they decided they only needed nine Republicans to cross over, or in her words, a majority, because they could not get a super-majority vote.

“The courts have ruled that when the people pass a proposition requiring a two-thirds majority then you have to have a two-thirds majority.   Now the case can go to court.  The case itself is about if a tax is a tax because according to Brewer if she calls it a “fee” or an “assessment” then it is not a “tax”.   The Governor of Arizona does not understand that the courts exist as a check and balance to the legislative and executive branches of government. ”  - Christine Bauserman   520-235-2234

·       CD2 Candidate Martha McSally Response to the House Armed Services Committee Chairman's Mark of the National Defense Authorization Act: While I have the highest regard for Chairman McKeon, this draft language puts American troops at risk by mothballing the A-10 in the Boneyard. Congressman Ron Barber (D-Tucson) has once again proven ineffective at dealing with this issue, and certainly not for the first time. Barber serves on the subcommittee with jurisdiction over the A-10, and just last week, he let that committee release their version of the defense bill without one mention of the A-10. Barber has long been asleep at the switch on this issue and ineffective, and we're now seeing the consequences of his lack of leadership.  McSally said, “I know first-hand the unique capability the A-10 brings to save American lives, having flown 325 combat hours and commanded the one deployable A-10 squadron at Davis-Monthan in combat. It is unrealistic to say we are going to mothball this plane, stop the training pipeline, lose all the Close Air Support capabilities, and then ever reverse that decision in the future. This latest attack on the A-10 is just more proof of why Southern Arizona needs new representation in Congress. Our troops need the best capabilities when they are sent into harm's way, and that's what I'll fight for in Congress.” Here is the language from the fact sheet released today: McKeon appreciates the decisive impact the A-10 has had over the last decade and a half of con´Čéict. His proposal dictates that the A-10 not be retired unless placed in Type 1000 storage to facilitate its quick return to the force should resource trends improve.  Fact sheet   Version released by House Armed Services Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee: house-panel-silent-on-a-10-retirement  and House-panel-punts-10-U-2-cuts

·       Congressman Trent Franks (CD8), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, responses to the recent reports that as many as forty veterans may have died while waiting for medical care from the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System, and that long waiting lists were intentionally kept secret: "Military personnel in countless countries all around the world are often associated with oppressive dictatorships that rule by brutality, cruelty, and corruption. Yet here in the United States, our military consistently ranks as the most honored institution in American society. Why? Because the bravest, most noble men and women America has to offer stand prepared to lay down their lives on 'the altar of liberty,' as Abraham Lincoln called it, so that every American, including my little five year old twins, can continue to walk awhile longer in the sunlight of freedom. Our military personnel don't do this because they are coerced, but because they believe in the same ideal that drove our founding fathers -- that all men were created equal and were endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. These are American heroes and they deserve so much better than this debacle. I will continue working to get answers from those responsible, as well as to ensure we never let this happen again."
