·       At 2 pm, Thur, May 8, Congressman Trent Franks, chairman of the Congressional EMP Caucus, will testify before the Homeland Security Committee Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies regarding the threat of naturally occurring and manmade Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) and the measures needed to protect America's largely unsecured electric grid. Franks is the author of HR 3410, the Critical Infrastructure Protection Act. Nearly every single facet of modern human life in America is susceptible to being crippled by a major Electromagnetic Pulse or Geomagnetic Disturbance event.  According to Franks, "The Department of Homeland Security has the specific responsibility to secure the key resources and critical infrastructure in the United States, to include power production, generation and distribution systems. Yet, eleven years after this job description was enacted, our nation's most critical infrastructure - and the systems that more than 300 Million Americans depend upon every day for basic activities - are still very vulnerable to large scale blackouts. Anyone who has tried to feed their family or keep their children warm after the power has gone out will understand why this issue is so crucially important."

·       At 4 pm, Thur., May 8 Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08), chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee and lead signer of the amicus curiae brief in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals case Sissel v. HHS, will be joined by the attorneys arguing on behalf of Sissel at a press conference discussing the beginning of oral arguments in the case. Sissel v. HHS is a challenge to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) on the basis that it violates the Origination Clause of the Constitution. When the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare, it did so only under Congress' general taxing power. Article 1, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution states that, "All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives." The language of the Affordable Care Act, however, originated in the Senate. This week's column by George Will on the subject can be found here.

These women, who have witnessed firsthand the hardships women endure, are profiled in their efforts to affect change, both in their communities and beyond. Freedom of movement, the right to education, forced marriage, and female genital mutilation are some of the systematic abuses explored in depth. The documentary gives a platform to exclusively female voice and seeks to expose the paralyzing political correctness that prevents many from identifying, understanding and addressing this international human rights disaster. ·       CD1 Candidate Andy Tobin: As we continue traveling AZ’s 1st Congressional District talking to communities about my fight to cut government spending, cut taxes, balance the budget and fight against ObamaCare, the message is clear: rural Arizonan’s want new leadership.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs: The Washington Post has called me the "wildcard" in its April 25 “The top 15 gubernatorial races of 2014” article. Want to know why? Like so many conservatives across Arizona, they've learned that I am the only candidate with the bold ideas and strong leadership to shake up state government and clean up the fiscal mess. There is too much at stake to roll the dice. We must defeat Common Core. We must repeal Medicaid expansion and Obamacare. And we must stand together to stop the Obamanization of Arizona!  Together, we can accomplish these goals, but to have the opportunity, I need your help today. If you'd like to help us please share our message with your friends and family members to help us grow our campaign. Sign the petition to ensure my name appears on the ballot. As we travel Arizona, we continue to meet voters who are ready to take a stand against the ever-expanding federal government. I believe that the decisions that are best for Arizonans should be made by Arizonans, not bureaucrats thousands of miles away. Let's take a stand and turn this wildcard campaign into a victor on Election Day!

·       Gubernatorial candidate Doug Ducey: As you’ve likely heard me say before, parents need more choices when it comes to educating their children – one size does not always fit all. For many families, charter schools can be an ideal option, and their growing popularity can be seen in the daunting waiting lists at Arizona’s most successful and excelling charter schools. One of my first priorities as governor will be to eliminate these waiting lists by providing the funding these schools need to include more students. And the need is growing. Just yesterday the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools announced that charter school waiting lists top more than one million names nationwide. We must give more Arizona students the opportunity to attend these in-demand schools while also advancing reforms to apply the best practices of all high-performing public schools statewide. More accountability. Higher standards and expectations. Funding classrooms and schools over districts. State and local control. These are all things we can and should have to make sure Arizona kids are ready for college or the workforce.

·       CD9 Candidate Wendy Rogers: When I heard at least 40 veterans had lost their lives waiting for care on a “secret list” at the Phoenix Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital, I was absolutely shocked. Since then, no action has been taken to reduce the backlog or reverse the policies which placed veterans in harm’s way.  Care is not improving for veterans.  I know, because my husband and I are veterans and the wait and runaround at Phoenix VA are just as long-standing this week as they have been.  Instead, Congress keeps “studying” the problem and bureaucrats keep pointing the finger. The United States of America has sunk to its lowest ebb by treating veterans this way. As in any emergency, we must apply triage while fixing the long-term problem.  The top priority is to care for veterans NOW.

1.     The VA should transfer primary care providers from northern tier VA facilities with adequate staff, in order to treat Phoenix VA’s backlog.

2.     Concurrently, Phoenix VA should immediately hire 20 additional primary care providers, expediting the federal background investigation process from six weeks down to one week.

3.     State licensed local primary care providers should be allowed to volunteer their services at Phoenix VA to ensure timely treatment for veterans.

Republican Establishment Gloats After Primary Victories

We're the battling boys of Benghazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought 'til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead seals who carried the load
No thanks to us.........we were just "Bumps In The Road".

  -  Marine Corps Officer (Anon).
