·       Democrats Can't Find Candidates: There's only a single Democrat running for governor, attorney general, and secretary of state. But now we know that all their rhetoric about improving the economy is just that: manipulative talk. The truth, we learned this week, is that Democrats in Arizona apparently care little for fiscal issues: they don't even have a single candidate for state treasurer. (The GOP has three!). The state treasurer's job, if you didn't know, is to be the caretaker for more than $12 billion worth of Arizona taxpayers' assets. Democrats have conceded the race, leaving voters wondering if they even have a plan to help turn the economy around. – AZGOP newsletter

·       Tell Utilities Solar Won’t Be Killed (TUSK) Plans A 10 Am, June 4 Rally at the State Capitol to protest new property tax imposed on new solar property tax on leased rooftop solar systems. Seniors from Sun City and Sun City West will lead the protest on the Senate Lawn, featuring TUSK Co-Chairman Barry Goldwater, Jr., the Sun City Poms and DJ Mr P-Body. Attendees will be asking Arizona Gov Jan Brewer to instruct the Arizona Department of Revenue to get this tax off the books. Goldwater said, “This solar tax is bad for energy choice, it’s bad for free markets, and it’s bad for our state’s economy. Our state should be embracing rooftop solar power, not finding new ways to tax it”.  See

·       A Reminder To Politically Involved State Employees: See state restrictions (Arizona’s “mini-Hatch Act”) at A.R.S. § 41-752.[1] The public policy behind these limitations is at A.R.S. § 41-752(K).

·       Scottsdale City Council Candidate Michael Auerbach has scheduled monthly “Meet & Greet” meetings for June 18, July 9, and Aug 13 at Tavern Americana in Scottsdale. Details:

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs responding to the news that the Environmental Protection Agency will propose a new regulation mandating a 30% reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions. Riggs said, "This is another example of the Obama Administration's overreach through agencies of the federal government like the EPA and BLM."  The proposed rule, supposedly the main piece of Barack Obama's climate-change agenda, will have the greatest impact on Arizona's fossil-fuel plants, including the Apache Generating Station, Cholla Power Plant, Coronado Generating Station, Four Corners Generating Station, H. Wilson Sundt Generating Station, Springerville Generating Station, and the Navajo Generating Station (NGS).  The NGS, a 2,250 megawatt power coal-fired power plant located, less than 20 miles from the Grand Canyon (near Page) and the Utah line, is the major source of jobs on the Navajo Nation. The NGS is operating under restrictions imposed by the EPA intended to reduce regional haze. Its co-owners include the Salt River Project, Arizona Public Service, and Tucson Electric Power.  "The EPA's budget has exploded since Barack Obama came into office and his Administration's appetite for new regulations is boundless," Riggs said.  "His climate change agenda is bad for Arizona energy producers and energy consumers. The Obama Administration won't approve the Keystone Pipeline to help make America more energy independent, create good jobs and give an economic boost to Americans; but it's eager to impose its cap and trade regime. As the only candidate for governor who has served in Congress, when we reduced the size, cost and power of the federal government, I'll fight this president and his administration in their ill-advised and misguided attempts to push the federal government deeper into the lives of Arizonans, at a time when our economy is very frail and we simply can't afford higher energy bills and any more job-killing regulations."

·        Candidate Yard Signs In Your Neighborhood Are Legal! The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees your right to free speech, and state law supports homeowners' rights to display political yard signs during election season -- despite HOA rules which may try to restrict your rights. Details on the law are here (toward the end of the document) and it's clear that an HOA cannot enforce sign regulations that are more restrictive than those of the city, town or county.
