·       ATTN: Candidates/LD leaders/Group Chairman:  If you have sent announcements or messages to Briefs that have not been posted (except endorsements) or that I have not responded to, please resend them.  I became aware over the weekend that some of your messages haven’t come through.  Messages can be sent to  or  If I do not respond with “thx” within 24 hours, please resend – using one or all of the above e-dresses.  I’d rather get duplications than not receive your e-mails.

·       June 30 is the deadline for applying to be a Maricopa County GOP Election Board Worker for the Aug 26 Primary Election and the Nov 4 General Election.  Maricopa County Elections will be hiring via e-mail and telephone on a first come first serve basis - not by "seniority". Apply online.  Several things are accomplished by working the polls the day of the election:
1.  You are able to help make the day of the election run efficiently
2.  You are able to monitor the polls where we have Election Board Workers
(we really need Republican Election Board Workers at every polling location)
3.  You are able to make a $100 or more for your efforts, and most of all
4.  You are able to help prevent any possible voter fraud.  A. J. LaFaro, MCRC Chairman, encourages Republican Precinct Committeemen and registered Republican
voters to apply as soon as possible.

·       A Reminder To Politically Involved State Employees: See state restrictions (Arizona’s “mini-Hatch Act”) at A.R.S. § 41-752.[1] The public policy behind these limitations is at A.R.S. § 41-752(K).

·       Arizona State Treasurer Candidates – Jeff DeWit, Randy Pullen, and Hugh Hallman were on Chan 3 ‘Politics Unplugged’ at 5:30 pm, this evening.

·       It’s Amazing How Completely Different Viewpoints/Interpretations surface from a room full of people attending the same meeting.  Reports have floated around since the June 21 State GOP Executive Committee meeting that Sen John Cain took up some 90 minutes of the agenda time discussing various issues and answering questions. Some say he is suddenly making himself re-election campaign visible to the grassroots pols since several County GOPs and the State GOP Censure Resolutions passed in Jan. 2014.  It has been duly noted that he hadn’t shown up at a State or County Committee meeting in years.  AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham defends McCain. “McCain only fielded questions and they kept coming.”  Graham also says that ‘no one walked out” and that McCain received a standing ovation.

·       Mississippi GOP Battle A Preview Of McCain's Next Run?  Sen John McCain campaigned in Mississippi last week for Senate Thad Cochran, -  the GOP established-backed incumbent who narrowly won over Tea Party candidate Chris McDaniel.  See Remember Mississippi! : “How far did the establishment GOP forces backing Senator Thad Cochran go in Mississippi this week?   Also see: Chris McDaniel: We’ve Found 1,000 Examples of Ineligible Voters in One County

·       Americans For Legal Immigration Wants Your Used Undies Sent To Barack Obama And John Boehner in response to  Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) need for free underwear for the new surge of illegal immigrants crossing America's borders -- enticed by promises of immigration reform amnesty. Mail used underwear to Barack Obama at The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500, and John Boehner at Office of the Speaker, H-232 The Capitol, Washington, DC 20515.

·       Congressman David Schweikert: Obama's actions have landed him in some pretty hot water.  And I'm not the only one who thinks it's time to turn up the temperature. Congress is ready to go after President Obama with a lawsuit. That's right, the President got served! But, we've only just begun, and I'm asking for your help as we turn up the dial.

·       Congressman Paul Gosar:  Last Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled in a unanimous decision in NLRB v. Noel Canning that President Obama’s 2012 recess appointments were invalid and unconstitutional. This ruling is a monumentally important moment for our nation’s ability to uphold the rule of law. Despite President Obama’s repeated circumvention of the legislative branch of our government, today’s unanimous Supreme Court ruling reinforces our nation's system of checks and balances. The unprecedented action by the President to try and sneak through three National Labor Relations Board appointments as well as the appointment of Consumer Financial Bureau Director Richard Cordray is just the tip of the iceberg in an administration mired in executive overreach and corruption. These actions have bred a lack of confidence and trust of the American people in their own government. I am encouraged by the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision and hope that it will remind the President that no matter how much he would like to bypass Congress, in the United States no man is above the law and our Constitution.

·       Republican Candidate Announcements, fundraiser, neighborhood walks and other events can be sent to for posting in the Briefs.  In fairness to all GOP primary candidates, Briefs does not post endorsements, nor does it endorse any GOP candidates prior to the primary. See Briefs at Http://Archives.Mcrcbriefs.Org/

WHAT CANDIDATES ARE SAYING: Send candidate statements to or  Statements longer than 250/300 words will be edited/condensed.

·       CD2 Candidate Chuck Wooten: It seems our “mediocre-in-chief” is at it yet again.  His recent misstep in nominating Robert A. McDonald, former Proctor & Gamble executive is as well thought out as his foreign policy.  Obama “reluctantly” accepted the resignation of former VA Secretary Shinseki.  Shenseki was at the helm of the VA when reports of dozens of veteran deaths were attributed to an inefficient appointment scheduling system. McDonald was the P & G Chairman for a mere 2.5 years and he stepped down after investors became dissatisfied with his failure to turn the company’s operating efficiencies and profitability around.  What is most troubling about the McDonald nomination is that it smacks of a deliberate set-up for failure.  His short, 5-year military career, graduating from West Point and being assigned to an Airborne Division is unremarkable.  Glaringly absent from his resume is a total lack of healthcare management experience.  In fairness, he seems to have global management experience; but managing shipments of Tide laundry detergent do not have the life-and-death implications as complex patient care.  With the VA scandal still raging, the Obama administration could not source a single healthcare turnaround guru to saddle up and take this on?  The bulk of his career with P-G, McDonald was in the laundry business.  Yes, laundry.  Now, that experience may come in handy as VA centers do have laundry needs, but doubtful this experience will keep a single veteran alive. Nominating a cabinet-level secretary with zero healthcare experience into an embattled, deadly scandal defies rational logic. Mr. President, you were hired in spite of your inexperience.  You’ve endangered our troops at every turn, now you are doubling-down on the only part of the population who has given more to America than you will ever know.  Reconsider this nomination and find someone with relevant experience.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs: "We pause to remember the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot crewmembers of the City of Prescott Fire Department who a year ago gave their lives attempting to stop the 2000-acre Yarnell Hill wildfire in Yavapai County.  We cherish the memory of their dedicated service and extend our thoughts and prayers to their families and loved ones.  Their courage and sacrifice are a reminder of the risks that all public safety officers and first responders routinely take in protecting and serving the citizens and communities of Arizona." The Granite Mountain Hotshots achieved elite hot shot status in 2008 and are the only municipal hotshot unit in the country.  They are highly trained and physically conditioned and continue to defend private property and City-owned land, and perform prescribed burns to treat combustible fuels on both City property and National Forest land. Frank Riggs is a former police officer and deputy sheriff who received numerous commendations for his law enforcement service.  He's also an Army veteran who served as a military policeman, military police investigator and military police supervisor.  As a U.S. Congressman, he received the Special Recognition Award from the Center For Criminal Justice Studies for his work enhancing the rights of crime victims.  He was also the principal author of the  "Juvenile Crime Control and Delinquency Prevention Act" (H.R.1818).  See
