The public is welcome to attend. Economic times have kept patrol deputies at less than ideal ratios in that area, according to Arpaio.  Thanks to cooperation between the Supervisors like Hickman, a new emphasis has been placed on more funding for law enforcement. With seven new deputies, Arpaio says, all the beats will now be fully covered.  The new deputies are starting in Sun City and Sun City West this week. “Where we once operated at 70% staffing levels, we are now at 100% levels,” Arpaio said. Hickman says, “Not only will law enforcement services improve but as importantly, Sheriff’s deputies will be in a better position to be more proactive in reducing crime rather than having to react to a crime already committed.”

·       Supervisor Clint Hickman: “I am very proud of my work within our County Budget structure to negotiate more law enforcement to be placed into our County District 4. The first speech I ever made as I accepted the appointment to the MC BOS touched on the need for more law enforcement in our District. My District includes over 650,000 acres of unincorporated land with two very large unincorporated cities (Sun City and Sun City West).”   This event is open to the public.

·       Congressman Jeff Flake: I wanted to give you a quick update on the unaccompanied minor illegal immigration crisis. As you may know, President Obama has asked Congress for $3.7 billion to deal with the situation. The problem with the Administration's request is that the lion's share of that money goes to the Department of Health and Human Service to place unaccompanied minors with family members in the U.S. It sends mixed messages to have the President claim that these children will be sent back to their home countries while asking for billions of dollars to do precisely the opposite. In response to the President's request, I've introduced legislation that does several things to address the crisis. First, it amends current law to make it easier to send these kids to their home countries. Rather than placing children with family members in the U.S., my bill would require that they remain in the custody of the U.S., which would ensure that they are present for legal proceedings. The bill increases the numbers of immigration law judges so that these cases can be more quickly processed. Finally, the bill conditions foreign aid to Central American countries on their cooperation in this matter, and it increases penalties on human smugglers. Until Congress passes legislation, there are several actions that President Obama can take, including accelerating cases and sending a clear and strong message to Central Americans that unaccompanied minors will be returned home. Without question, the President's unwillingness to do what's within his power is making this situation worse. I believe that when parents in Central America, who spent thousands of dollars to get their child to the U.S., see that they're coming right back, you'll start to see the flow of accompanied minors subside. Until that starts to happen, I will continue to make this a priority.

·       Government Waste: $35 million was reportedly paid out by Medicare to 118 "phantom" medical clinics that never even existed.  Apparently these "phantom" medical clinics were established by a network of criminal gangs as a way to defraud the U.S. government.  – Congressman Paul Gosar

·       Campaign Signs Missing? According To Doug Nintzel, Arizona Department Of Public Transportation Public Information Officer, “ If campaign signs that are incorrectly placed within state highway right-of-way boundaries are collected by ADOT crews, they are taken to maintenance yards and are kept there for a couple of weeks to give campaigns some time to pick them up.”  He added, “Under state law, no campaign signs are allowed within the right of way ‎along state highways. ADOT sends letters to registered candidates each campaign cycle as a reminder of the prohibition against signs within highway right of way areas.”  So, if check with the nearby ADOT Maintenance Yard to see if your missing signs are stored there. See  ARS 16-1019 –political

·       Candidate Yard Signs In Your Neighborhood Are Legal.  The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees your right to free speech, and state law supports homeowners' rights to display political yard signs during election season -- despite HOA rules which may try to restrict your rights. See HB 2069 (toward the end of the document) and it's clear that an HOA cannot enforce sign regulations that are more restrictive than those of the city, town or county according to AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham.  If you are living in an HOA and run into this situation, visit the AZGOP Facebook page and tell your side of the story.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Ken Bennett: I’ve learned a lot during my two decades of public service; if our state is to move forward we need to elect leaders who have a vision of what Arizona can be, and how they intend to get us there. Our detailed plan is to return Arizona to the level of prosperity I helped create while serving as President of the Senate. Our comprehensive plan, o, covers nine topical areas; Education, Veterans, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Economy, Safety, Energy, Immigration and People. This plan seeks to address the needs of our diverse state , not just repackaged rhetoric.  Our plan is based on my years of experience serving at the local and state level, and running a business in northern Arizona.  That perspective will help bring common sense solutions to state government. Highlights include the phasing out of the state’s income tax, the 5-5-5 plan to decrease the cost of health care, and the creation of the Arizona Bureau of Investigation to support local law enforcement and ensure state agencies are held accountable to citizens. Developing a plan is one thing; implementing it is something altogether different.  If we are to get our state going in the right direction again, we need a Governor who will fight for our values and won’t require on-the-job training. As the state’s CEO, you must know when to stand up and fight for what’s right and when \to work together to govern effectively.  Arizonans deserve results and accountability, and that’s what they will get under a Bennett Administration. Review my plan for Arizona, and offer your feedback.  If Arizona is to become the state we all know it can be, we must work together.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Ken Bennett: Reacting to recent news his Alma Mater was ranked number one on the annual “best buy” list released by the Fiske Guide to Colleges, Ken Bennett applauded President Michael Crow and Arizona State University’s accomplishment, and emphasized the value that public education institutions have on the state. “We often take for granted how lucky we are to have access to a fantastic University system in Arizona,” said Secretary Bennett.  “I was delighted to see ASU ranked number one, and that’s not just because I’m a proud Sun Devil.  These rankings help attract students to our state, which also encourages business to invest or relocate to a place where a highly-trained and professional workforce already in place. “The next Governor must resist further cuts to higher education and invest in University Research Projects as soon as possible.  Funding for Arizona’s great universities has suffered tremendous budget cuts over the last several years.  ASU along has had its funding cut by more than $200 million. As Senate President, we prioritized more than $400 million in funding for University Infrastructure Research Projects. This investment created a new generation of jobs, and transformed Arizona into one of the nation’s fastest growing bioscience states. If Arizona is to become a stronger hub for learning, we must create an environment that will encourage students and experts to come to our state for a world-class education that prepares them for the competitive workplace that awaits.”
