ESTIMATED OUTSTANDING BALLOTS COUNTY as of Close of Business: 8/27/2014 – Secretary of State office.

·       Cochise County experienced technical difficulties with yesterday’s tabulation of ballots that will cause a revision of the Primary Election Night Results, possibly changing the outcomes of some races. Previously posted results for this county have been removed from the Secretary of State’s election reporting system. Cochise County is actively working on a resolution and new files will be uploaded when available. Please note that all election results are unofficial until the Canvass. For more information, contact Jim Vlahovich, interim director of Cochise County Elections at 520-432-8970.

·       During Primary Election Night Reporting, Yavapai County, working with new election equipment, experienced technical difficulties properly exporting the results file out of its system. Yavapai County worked throughout the night and exported a results file at approximately 5:40 a.m. Once Yavapai exported the file, that data was successfully uploaded into the state election night reporting system without difficulty.  In May 2014, Yavapai County approved this election equipment for experimental use pursuant to A.R.S. 16-442(F).  Since the Secretary of State’s Office certifies an end-to-end voting system, the system as configured in Yavapai County was not certified by the State.  This new election system, Unisyn OpenElect, is only used in Yavapai County. Questions about this new equipment should be directed to Yavapai County, 928-771-3249.

·       LD17 Is Hosting A Rally/Townhall Sun Lakes for Gubernatorial candidate Doug Ducey  at 10:30 am, Aug 28 at the Sun Lakes Country Club,  24501 E Sun Lakes Blvd. N., Chandler, AZ 85248.

·       An Ice Cream Social With Gov Jan Brewer And Republican Gubernatorial Nominee Doug Ducey is scheduled at 6 pm, Thurs., Aug 28 at the Bird’s Nest Buffet, Club Level, Cardinals Stadium, One Cardinals Dr., Glendale, AZ 85305. ·       LD17 Chairman Tyler Bowyer: We want to congratulate Republicans Kevin Hartke, Terry Roe and Rene Lopez on their election to the Chandler City Council and Judge Keith Frankel who has been reelected as our Republican Justice of the Peace. All four GOP endorsed candidates were the top three vote getters. What's even more amazing? Our biggest Democrat challenger received the fewest votes! This did not happen by mistake. Legislative District 17 had dozens of you who volunteered by contributing time, sweat and resources into this race. 4,000+ handouts distributed, 10,000+ voters canvassed, 40,000+ residents contacted on social media. The storyline to highlight is simple... “when we work together we win.” This victory is particularly important as it is the FIRST time in over a decade that there will be no Democrats on the City Council. This is a monumental shift from previous councils and will make an enormously positive impact as major decisions take place with the Price Road Corridor and small business revitalization in Downtown Chandler and emerging developing neighborhoods.

·       LD21 Rep Debbie Lesko:  The Golf Cart Parade and Bill Signing Ceremony in Sun City on Aug. 14th was a huge success and is a perfect example of elected officials working together with citizens to solve a problem! Governor Brewer and Sheriff Arpaio came out to Sun City to celebrate my legislation that helped golf cart drivers in Sun City.  Click HERE to view the Daily News Sun news article, photos, and a video.

·       Congressman Jeff Flake: With the primaries now behind us and the general election just ten short weeks away, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate the winners from last night. Whether you're a political veteran or a first-time candidate, having the opportunity to represent the Republican Party is an honor you'll always appreciate. I offer my heartfelt congratulations on your victory last night! For those who ran and lost, I thank you for putting your hat in the ring. Your effort and ideas will help our nominees become better candidates against the democrats. I hope this setback does not discourage you and you'll stay involved in the political process. The last six U.S. presidents all lost elections along the way to achieving their goal. I encourage you to stay involved in the party! Now is the time to rally around our nominees for statewide offices, congress and the legislature. I'm excited to have Doug Ducey as our nominee for governor. Doug has a successful business background and a vision For Arizona. Michele Reagan as our Secretary Of State candidate and Mark Brnovich as Attorney General will provide a stark contrast with their Democrat opponents. And of course, congratulations to Treasurer nominee Jeff Dewit who is unopposed in the general election. We're in the election home stretch. Any help you can provide to individual candidates and your state and local republican parties will make a huge difference. Many of these races are expected to be tight. We have the momentum but our candidates need money and volunteers to be successful. Thank you for your support of our Republican Party nominees. On to victory in November!

·       Today Arizona Republican Party Chairman Robert Graham enthusiastically congratulated Doug Ducey as he won the GOP nomination for governor of Arizona. “Doug has a fantastic business and public service record and I’m proud our party’s voters have chosen him as our candidate,” said Graham. “We have a very strong slate of Republican candidates as of today and that’s a big contrast to the weak showing among Democrats, they’re grasping at straws to try to compete." A liberal East Coast polling firm today even admitted that Arizona’s Democrat candidate who did not actually compete for the party’s nomination is unknown by 60% of likely voters.  The firm, Public Policy Polling, still claimed the matchup between the GOP’s Ducey and the Democrat nominee is tied going into the general election.  To support that claim the firm oddly claimed that the Democrat would make up for his unknown status by appealing to independent voters. “The Democrat nominee is a nobody known only to his lobbying clients and some government insiders,” said Graham. In fact, Democrats not only have to attempt to overcome a statewide GOP registration advantage of more than five percent, but GOP voters have a long-held reputation for superior turnout rates. In Maricopa County, home to more than 60 percent of Arizona’s voters, Republican turnout among early voters was 29.5 percent, compared to just 22.7 percent from Democrats and 6.6 percent from independents. “Less than two years after the most recent election, every statewide office in Arizona is held by a Republican and our state legislature also has GOP majorities in both houses,” said Graham. “And those candidates were voted into office with the help of independent voters.” Graham also released a graphic that compared the relative impact of the two nominees for governor on social media platforms produced on primary election day.

·       LD21 Rep Debbie Lesko:  PTA’s No Longer Allowed to Sell Sno-Cones at School? Outside Food Vendors No longer at High Schools? :  It appears the new Federal Food Program championed by Michelle Obama is another example of federal government overreach.  I was recently contacted by a local elementary school parent. This year the PTA is no longer allowed to sell sno-cones after school.  My son’s high school no longer has outside food vendors because of the food restrictions and he tells me the allowed food leaves him hungry.  If you have a similar story, please CONTACT ME at  or 602-926-5413.  I’m going to be meeting with the Arizona Department of Education to see if there is something we can do about it.  I’d like to share your experiences and stories with them.

·       Gov Jan Brewer: “I applaud the Arizona Supreme Court for granting the state’s Petition for Review in the Medicaid Restoration lawsuit. With the Court’s decision, Arizona is one step closer to ending the baseless lawsuit, thereby allowing the state to focus exclusively on implementing one of the most critical and meaningful health care policies to be enacted in years: the restoration of a significant segment of our model Medicaid program, AHCCCS, in accordance with the will of the Arizona voters and the state Legislature. I am hopeful the Court will affirm the Superior Court ruling and reverse the appellate decision, siding with the majority of Arizonans and a bi-partisan legislative coalition. As I have said before, this issue is not about politics – it is about the more than 276,000 Arizonans who risk losing crucial, cost-effective healthcare, the viability of our rural and safety-net hospitals, and the ability of our state budget to fund critical programs and services essential to our most vulnerable.”

·       Political Consultant  And former PC Jon Altmann: What has 22 years of national intelligence work taught me? For one, that ISIS did not happen over night. For another, this country must do something to protect both the homeland and our national interests abroad and quit running from conflicts. We left Iraq too soon and will leave Afghanistan too soon for those country's to evolve. For Iran, we should have 10 years ago began evolving the country back to its pre-WWI lines that compliment cultural, tribal and religious differences. Not every country will evolve like the melting pot the US is. I don't think we are doing are best to safeguard our nation - and not every step we take has to be military - we are leaving too many option out because the guy at the top is more academic than realistic and essentially came into office with little collective leadership skills. We need to find a better leader in two years and hope for the best until then.  - Jon C. Altmann is a  Senior Chief Intelligence Specialist U.S. Navy (Ret.) Comments and opinions expressed by Jon C. Altmann are his own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Department of Defense, the U.S. Navy, or any of the organizations he volunteers his time in helping others.

·       LD21 Rep Debbie Lesko:  If you are one of my Sun City or Youngtown residents…the Arizona Corporation Commission asked EPCOR, your water company, to develop waste water consolidation scenarios.  The full consolidation plan would increase your waste water rates by 89%!  I have filed formal opposition to the full consolidation plan with the Arizona Corporation Commission.  I encourage you to voice your opposition too.  Here is the LINK to fill out a public comment to the Arizona Corporation Commission.  The name of the Docket is: Wastewater Rate Design Examination. The utility is: EPCOR. The Docket numbers are: W-01303A-09-0343 and SW-0303A-0-0343.  Contact me if you have questions at or 602-926-5413. Together, we can make a difference.

·       Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. spearheaded an Arizona Delegation letter to Algenol Biofuels' CEO Paul Woods urging the company to select Arizona as a location for a new commercial facility, which will create nearly 3,000 construction jobs and 800 direct jobs. Rep. Gosar's letter was signed by several members of Arizona's House delegation, including: Reps. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.), Ron Barber (D-Ariz.), Ed Pastor (D-Ariz.), Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.). Such overwhelming bipartisan support demonstrates the Arizona delegation is serious about bringing businesses and jobs to the Copper State. "We are intrigued that Algenol Biofuels is able to offer a cost-competitive biofuel which competes with any other commercially available fuel, and believe locating a facility in Arizona could open a bountiful production area for this fuel source. Arizona’s unique topography includes abundant amounts of carbon dioxide, sunlight, algae and saltwater, all of which are important to producing viable and sustainable biofuels as you know. There is also a natural market for Algenol products in Arizona, and proximity to the huge California fuels market," the letter reads. After the letter was delivered, Rep. Gosar said, "Arizonans strongly support innovative companies and will welcome Algenol Biofuels as well as thousands of jobs and an $800 million investment. I was honored to lead the effort to encourage this promising company that utilizies state-of the-art technology to build a new facility in Arizona. Part of the reason I was elected was to bring high-quality, good-paying jobs to our state. I will continue to do whatever I can to stimulate our economy and provide hard-working Arizonans with more opportunities for employment." Click HERE to read the full letter.

·       LD23 House Candidate Jay Lawrence:  I am certain I will find better ways to say thank  you for last nights lD23 house victory. To say I am thrilled doesn't begin to express my feelings I will at some time in the future do a much better thank you to all of you who helped., but that thank you will be no more sincere or heart felt than this one. Thank You Thank You.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Doug Ducey: In February, we launched our campaign promising to give our very best efforts, to run with heart and press on to the finish. Tonight, our best efforts brought us to victory.Thank you for the confidence you've shown in me and for seeing me through the long contest that is now behind us.I want every Republican voter to know that you are welcome in this campaign -- we need you, and I’m asking for your support.  We need to raise significant funds to defeat the Democrat in November, and that's why I'm asking for your contribution of $5, $50, or $500 to my general election campaign. We are not finished building this broad coalition.  And if you are ready to make Arizona the reforming, job-creating, welcoming place that we are meant to be, then I ask for your help, because this campaign is for you. Every day, I will state my convictions and respect those of others.  I will run as I intend to serve.  I want to be governor for all the people, and in this campaign I will reach out to all Arizonans. You have my word that as the Republican nominee I will keep giving this race the best that is in me, and I will earn the vote by showing the best that is in Arizona. Thank you all very much,

·       CD1 Candidate Andy Tobin: We find the latest results very encouraging and believe Andy will be the Republican nominee to take on Ann Kirkpatrick. Andy’s lead is now far outside the number of votes required to avoid a recount, and based on our projections, this lead will hold once any remaining votes are counted.

·       LD28 House Candidate Shawnna Bolick: As you may know, the results in our Legislative District 28 House race remain very close:  I trail Mary Hamway by 7 votes, or .03 percent, out of tens of thousands of votes cast.  More votes may remain to be counted and a recount is all but certain. I congratulate Representative Kate Brophy McGee for her renomination and Mary Hamway for a strong campaign.  When the voters' decision is known, either Mary or I will carry the Republican banner to victory this November.Thank you once again for your support and for all you do. I hope to have your support if the final votes go our way.  We have a terrific statewide ticket and I look forward to continuing our effort to preserve our precious freedoms. All my best, Shawnna

·       Tempe City Council Candidate Matt Papke: 4,152 people chose liberty in our city yesterday and I think that is pretty cool. No, I did not win the seat. The top vote getters received 7,000 votes or so far out pacing the 4,152 that chose liberty. But that is OK.Thank you for all the time, thought, donations and good will you sent our way. We could not have done it without you. Thank you to our wonderful campaign manager Jessica Merrow for her tireless efforts, sound advice and unbelievable professionalism. Thank you to Angela for sticking by me through this adventure and bringing baby Anastasia into my life. What has been learned can not be unlearned. The people of Tempe know now there is: $712,000,000 in debt, undeniable corporate welfare and that some of their elected officials have serious conflicts of interest. What happens from here is up to the people of our city. The most important lesson is that while we are unique our time is not. Cultures rise and fall, governments expand and contract. All we need to do is look to at history to see where we are and where we are heading. The continued expansion of government and seeking of security always leads to abuses of power and tyranny. Our work in Tempe is far from over. Our loss will galvanize the people of Tempe to further scrutinize their leaders and policies. They will wonder "what if Matt was elected" the next time the city raises taxes or cuts basic services. The conversation has begun and will carry on. It is not about me, it is about the message and the message is winning. "Elections are short term projects, Revolutions take a while." Dr. Ron Paul Jessica did an amazing job as our campaign manager, please drop her a note.

·       LD15 House Heather Carter:  Thank you so much for your help and support.  As you know by now, our campaign was once again overwhelmingly successful in Tuesday’s Republican Primary.  We focused on the issues and rose above some of the negative campaigning that entered our race. No Democrats or other third-party candidates are running for these seats, so this Primary Election was the decision-maker for our district’s representatives. I am honored to once again represent you in the Arizona House.  You have my commitment to continue to focus on the issues that matter to you like job creation, improving education, strengthening public safety and providing world-class healthcare right in our own backyard. I am extremely appreciative to everyone who helped during the campaign.  I couldn’t have done this without your help!  Let’s make the next two years all about moving our district, and Arizona, forward.

·       LD1 Incumbent Steve Pierce: Thank you so much for your support in the Primary Election!  While I was running unopposed, never did I stop working for you, as your voice at the Capitol.  It has been my honor to represent the people of Arizona’s First District and fight for our shared rural values in the Legislature.  I have worked hard to protect our property and water rights, and modernize forest management to prevent more tragedies like the Slide fire.   I have done everything in my power to help our rural hospitals as they struggle with uncompensated care.  I have also never wavered from my commitment to grow our economy and create jobs. But there is much work to do.  The Hopi Indian Tribe has filed suit over the Gila River, a suit we must resolve to preserve our water rights.  The recent budget does not allow for new charter schools, which is especially harmful to small school districts like Humboldt, and must be rectified.  Of course, we must continue to stand up to federal overreach, such as new EPA regulations that will cost thousands of jobs in Arizona. With your support, I will continue to fight for our rural, conservative principles and will be straightforward and honest about what I believe and what I’m doing – just as I have always done since being given the privilege to serve you six years ago. Again, thank you for your support and your vote - I look forward to working with other Republican candidates as we work toward the General Election and I look forward to hearing from you with any comments or concerns in the next two years.

·       CD2 Candidate Martha McSally: Last night we came out with a victory! But, now the real race begins. We have 70 days until Election Day and Ron Barber still has almost a $500,000 cash advantage over me. I need your help to hit the ground running & close the fundraising gap. Will you contribute $100, $50 or even $25 to help me beat Ron Barber? Ron may be bankrolled by Nancy Pelosi, but I know grassroots supporters like you will make the difference. I need to raise $25,000 before midnight on Sunday, August 31st to hit my online fundraising goal.We don’t have much time until Election Day and we’re starting with a major disadvantage. I need you on my team now more than ever.Chip in $100, $50, $25 or whatever you can to help me reach my goal and beat Ron Barber. Let’s go win on November 4th!

·       Justice Of The Peace Candidate John Mccomish: Thank you for such a strong showing last night.  Your support and help have been invaluable in our campaign for Justice of the Peace.  Congratulations to my challenger, Darryl Jacobson-Barnes, for running a good campaign and giving residents two great choices for JP. Now the real work begins.  We will be tasked with defeating the Democrat incumbent and I could use your help one more time.  The General Election is November 4th and we need a sizable turnout to ensure our victory on election night. Thank you again for everything you’ve done to help our campaign.  I’ve been successful in the past due to supporters just like you.  I look forward to a competitive race and representing you after we win the general election.

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs: Cathy and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your involvement and help in my gubernatorial campaign. We're forever indebted to you for your trust and support, and most importantly, for your friendship. I did my utmost to uphold the confidence you placed in me. As the saying goes, "Greatness is not measured by money or stature; it's measured by courage and heart!," and we gave the campaign our all. Obviously, my reach exceeded my grasp but I think I helped raise the bar in the race. I hope you agree that I articulated a plan to move Arizona forward based on conservative solutions, constitutionally limited government and free market principles while avoiding the mudslinging and third-party attacks that unfortunately have come to characterize our politics. We ran a campaign of principle and stayed true to who we are and the values we share with you.  In closing, I want to share my favorite political quote which, along with your support, inspired and motivated me throughout our campaign: "Far better is it to dare mighty things, To win glorious triumphs, Even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt (1899). The last eight months have been an incredible journey...a journey in faith. We have been so blessed to make this journey with you, to see the incredible beauty of our state and the potential of its people. But the greatest blessing has been the opportunity to renew old friendships and make new friendships that Cathy and I will always treasure. We know from experience, the politics eventually end but true friendships endure. With deepest appreciation and best wishes.

·       LD19 Republican Senate Candidate Joe Hobbs will be on the November ballot! Voters in Avondale/Tolleson/West Phoenix will have a Republican Senator to vote for the first time! “Our tiny LD19 membership has stood up and Roared,” said Hobbs. “We have achieved more than 280% of the minimum write-in votes needed. That is a lot of door knocking and phone calling and doing what needed to be done” said Hobbs. Five of the largest polling places were covered by volunteers as the polls opened Tuesday passing out “write-in Joe Hobbs” literature and putting up signs. Our mailing to Permanent Early Voters arrived with their Early Ballot,  accomplishing the first of three integrated goals – campaign confidential. I did not qualify for Clean Elections funding so I am now in Traditional Funding Mode. Go to and click on the “DONATE” button, credit card or PayPal is available. Everyone has writer’s cramps from writing checks for the Primary – that is over!!! Be as generous as you can. I will spend every penny carefully. A Meet-and-Greet can have a big impact within your circle of conservative friends. I am blessed with generous volunteers from ALL OVER MARICOPA COUNTY – Thank you very, very much. Individuals may give up to $2,000. Political Committees may give up to $2,000. Super PACS certified by SOS may give up to $4,000. My Democrat opponent has $12-13,000 and I have several hundred. This is David and Goliath time in LD19. The Democrats did not expect us to show up. I can beat him with $9-10,000. Republicans are much more frugal than Dems. Follow me on Twitter  @hobbs4az. Checks must be made payable to Hobbs4AZ.  WE are in it to win it.
