September 16, 2014
· Chairman Robert Graham has called for a 2 pm, Fri, Sept 26 teleconference call of the AZGOP Executive Committee to ‘advise and consent” his intention to fill the vacancy of the position of the First Vice-Chairman with the current Second Vice-Chair Parralee Schneider. The First Vice-Chair is open due to the weekend resignation of former First Vice-Chair Russell Pearce. Graham intends to appoint Jeni White, current Secretary to the Maricopa County Republican Committee, as the AZGOP Second Vice-Chair. The appointees will serve until the January 2015 election of new AZGOP officers.
· For All The Uproar Over a Piece Read by Russell Pearce On His Radio Show– if anyone had taken the time to check out the ‘Put me in Charge of Welfare’ piece, they would have found that it has been floating around the Internet for nearly two years supposedly written by a 21 year old woman. However, fact-check-rant-welfare-abuse-hits-home-internet-admirers says it was actually written by a man named Alfred W. Evans and was published as a ‘letter to the editor’ in the Nov 18, 2010 edition of the Waco Tribune Herald. Evans, a 56-year-old resident of Gatesville, Texas, wrote the letter to the editor hoping to get others incensed about welfare abuse. Fact Checks says, “What he (Evans) didn’t expect, according to an interview with him in the Tribune Herald in November 2012, was that the letter would be emailed across the country and become an Internet phenomenon.” Whether you agree or disagree with what Evans wrote and Pearce read, the First Amendment assures them the right to express their thoughts.
· As Bill Clinton Arrives In Phoenix To Campaign on behalf of his former aide and Democrat Nominee for Governor, Fred DuVal, Chairman Robert Graham of the Arizona Republican Party sent a letter to DuVal raising questions about his decision to grant clemency to 16 terrorists while co-chairing Clinton’s White House Interagency Group of Puerto Rico. “With President Clinton campaigning on his behalf, it seems like the appropriate time for Fred DuVal to explain this matter to the people of Arizona,” said Robert Graham, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. “He took a hard line position against clemency in the Primary Election, but it appears he had an active role in requesting clemency for terrorists not too long ago. We need to know who the real Fred DuVal is. The candidate who makes tough statements on crimes and punishment? Or the Washington bureaucrat who pushes ideology over citizen safety?” See letter at azgop.org/blog/
· LD17 Will Be Walking In CD-9 on Sept 27. Volunteers should meet at 8:30 am at Desert Breeze Park in Chandler, according to LD17 Chairman Tyler Bowyer email@example.com
· LD17 Chairman Tyler Bowyer reports that last week’s walk in Mesa/Tempe was “a huge success. We hit thousands of voters in just a few hours.”
· The AZ House Energy Committee Is Holding Hearings Around The State, to keep up with these onerous rules. Opponents to the EPA rules are asked to attend the 1 pm, Wed, Sept 17 in the Benson City Council Chambers. Speaker Andy Tobin had the House energy Committee tracking this issue for taxpayers over the past year. Other liberal states are supporting the rules based on the health benefits from lower carbon outputs, and they support the effort to stop global warming, according to Lewis. “We need to create AZ Dept of Checking the EPA’s math next year. We need a TWG 2.0 working group to create special rules for Tribal power plant compliance plans, to save the largest coal fire power plants in the west. The CAP Water Board buy’s $110 million per year in power from Navajo GS to pump water to 80% of Arizona residents. Your water and power rates are going to jump significantly, thanks to the EPA. Please help us stop the EPA, Lewis pleads. Lewis can be reached at 602-499-3095.
· LD13 Rep. Steve Montenegro Will Hold A News Conference at 11 am, Wed, Sept. 17 in the Rose Garden at the capital, 1700 W. Washington St, Phoenix, to announce his commitment to the Civics Education Initiative, a nationwide effort aiming to ensure high school graduates have a basic understanding of how government works. When a sample of Arizona high school students took a test similar to what is given foreign born residents seeking US citizenship, less than 5 percent of them passed with a score of 60% or better. The Initiative aims to restore an appreciation of US history and government, and through that knowledge create generations of engaged citizens and future leaders. The immediate goal of the Initiative is to get every state to adopt legislation requiring high school students to pass a 100 question test on US History to graduate. Montenegro, Chairman House Reform and Human Services Committee, will be accompanied by Lucian Spataro, President & CEO of the Joe Foss Institute; John R. Christian, Civics Proficiency Institute Board Member; and Jim Chamberlain , Civics Proficiency Institute Board Member. · RNC Chairman Reince Priebus: “Another day, another ObamaCare broken promise from President Obama and the Democrats. For years Republicans have warned that ObamaCare would force taxpayers to support elective abortions, while the White House continued to hide behind bureaucracy and evade transparency when pressed on whether they were keeping their promise. House Republicans even passed legislation to fix this exact problem in a law filled with broken promises and hidden agendas. Instead of being part of the solution, Democrats like Mary Landrieu, Mark Pryor and Kay Hagan helped Harry Reid stand in the way of House legislation to prevent taxpayer dollars from covering abortions under ObamaCare. It’s time we voted them out and elected someone who will be part of the solution, not the problem.”
· The Issue Of Independents Voting In The Primary Elections and how they affect the selection of candidates is surfacing as a topic of concern again among party movers and shakers. leaders. · Former LD4 Sen Jack Harper: I am absolutely against Condoleezza Rice being considered for the position of NFL Commissioner. Her slight toward academia gets in the way of real qualities for positions she has domain over. In May 2007, the United States announced that Libya would be removed from the terrorism watch list. Condoleezza Rice was the US Secretary of State and announced that the US would open a Consulate in Libya. I applied to be the Consular. I am a US Army Veteran, serving in the First Infantry Division in West Germany during the Cold War. I had served four years by that time as an Arizona State Senator. And, I was a dedicated Republican that excelled on staying on message. I was prepared again to lay down my life for my country, if needed. This position was the prelude to where US Ambassador Chris Stevens gave his life for his country. I received a letter back from the Rice-led State Department saying that they did not hire anyone that did not finish a four-year college degree. I felt that my service to my country in the military, service to my state in the Legislature, willingness to sacrifice my life for my country, and dedication to my Party, were all second factors to academia, according to Rice. If Condoleezza Rice is to become the next NFL Commissioner, she will certainly destroy the entertainment factor of the sport. The image of the NFL is important, but so is the ability to play football. Rice will certainly try to ban drafting players that did not finish college. We do not care if an athlete finished a nominal degree. Rice should stay in academia.

WHAT CANDIDATES ARE SAYING:
· CD2 Candidate Martha McSally today revealed her personal experience as a victim of stalking and called for a new attack ad tying her to stalking violence to be pulled down immediately. McSally, whose stalker broke into her car and repeatedly trespassed in her apartment building and who knows first-hand the fear of being threatened, said Rep. Ron Barber's silence in the wake of these ads is, "damning," and called on him to demand the ad's immediate removal: "As someone who's experienced being stalked, I know what it feels like to worry constantly about when and where your stalker will appear next and what he'll do. I've had threats made against me and wasn't even safe in my own home or my car where my stalker broke in and held me in a hostage-like situation. I'm not alone in having to defend myself against a stalker. Countless women go through the same suffering and intimidation, and for an outside group to tie me to the tragic occurrence of a stalker killing his victim, is not only personally offensive, it's degrading to all women and victims who have experienced this pain. These false and malicious ads are being run by Congressman Barber's political allies, and for him to remain silent in their wake is damning. I call on him to show that the integrity of women is more important than political gain. He needs to denounce these degrading ads and demand they be pulled down." The new attack ad from the Americans for Responsible Solutions Political Action Committee makes false claims against McSally, who has been outspoken about enforcing laws that keep guns out of the hands of convicted stalkers. In addition, the ad references statements made by a third-party group unaffiliated with McSally to falsely justify its claims. The McSally for Congress Campaign has demanded the ads be removed from the air waves citing their intentional distortion of facts intended to mislead and deceive the voters of Southern Arizona.
