·       Some Readers Have Asked when the Maricopa County Recorder’s office starts counting the early ballots.  Here is the answer from MCRC Chairman A. J. LaFaro: “No early ballots are counted until after the Logic & Accuracy Test of the optical scanning equipment. All early ballots are stored in MCTEC's secure vault that is guarded 24/7 by MCSO Deputies and 24/7 security video surveillance cameras. The Logic & Accuracy Test for the optical scanning equipment is on 10/28 with early ballot processing  beginning on 10/29.”

·       AZGOP Robert Graham didn’t make any brownie points in the outlying County Recorder’s offices when he publicly blasted five Recorders in a press release on Oct 20; then backed pedaled on Oct 21. The recorder’s say Graham has yet to contact them personally with an apology for labeling them “incompetent, corrupt, or misinformed public officials (who) do not do their jobs” when he charged they were not following  the law to send voter registrations (early ballots) reports to his office. They also question why he didn’t contact them – if there was a problem -  before he publicly humiliated the elected officials and their staffs.

Recorders in counties with a populations of fewer than 800,000 point out they are exempt from the law requiring daily reports that Graham referred to when he charged they weren’t following the law.  Larger counties are required to report daily; however, smaller counties can report weekly, according to lesser populated county recorders. It was also pointed out that some of the smaller counties have to convert their reports to a different format to meet Graham’s request. They all emphasized, although they have very small staffs; they are doing “exactly” as directed by the AZGOP and Democratic Party headquarters.

o   Navajo County Recorder Laurette Justman said her staff had submitted their report “exactly as directed” by the AZGOP staff.  Stunned by Graham’s “disrespectful”  Oct 20 comments since Navajo County reports were already submitted, she called AZGOP headquarters but was unable to talk to Graham. She said Executive Director Chad Heywood called her back saying they didn’t have the Navajo County reports and telling her “it must be a technical problem on Navajo County’s end.”  When she insisted the reports had been sent, he promised to look for them and call her back.  Heywood never called back, she said. When she again called AZGOP headquarters, a staff member told her that Heywood had been informed that the Navajo reports were indeed in the AZGOP office. She was then informed AZGOP had posted a follow up press release on the AZGOP web site. “By then the damage was done. People were calling wanting to know why we weren’t doing our job. My staff was very upset,” she said today.

o   Yuma County Recorder Robin Pouquette was equally shocked and frustrated at Graham’s allegations.  “We had notified Graham’s office on Oct 15 that we would upload our data at 5 pm, Oct 20. We were stunned when he put out that press release at 3 pm.”  Her computer techs had worked 14 hours overtime over the weekend uploading the data he requested.  “I have a small staff that works very hard. We have always worked with both the Republican and Democrats and never had a bit of problems before. My staff is very discouraged at what he put out.” She added that Graham’s Oct 20 release listed one her employee’s home e-mail instead of the Recorder’s e-dress for precinct committeemen to use to put pressure on recorder’s offices to comply with the law. Consequently the staff member received some “nasty e-mails” from people who had read Graham’s Oct 20 commentary.  She said Yuma county population doesn’t require that they report early ballot information daily. She pointed out recorders will have to deal with the fall out of his actions when they run for re-election. Like the other Recorders, her office has received some very supporter calls/e-mails from the public after Graham back-pedaled on Oct 21.

o   Pinal County Recorder Virgina Ross said her staff was blindsided and very disenchanted with Graham. “We are doing our job. In fact, we went far beyond. It is very demoralizing when overzealous people put out a release like that.” She said the Pinal County Recorder’s office experienced a fire early this year resulting in the loss of equipment and data when the roof caved in. However, they managed to get things up and going again to meet the August Primary election requirements.  She was baffled that he didn’t call her before or after he put out the Oct 20 and Oct 21 press releases.  “We have gone out of our way to provide them with information,” she said. She said local residents are very supportive when they learn the facts.

o   Santa Cruz Recorder Suzanne Sainz told a similar story.  Her staff was ‘taken aback’ at Graham’s allegations.  “We are a small staff and we are not corrupt. No one wants to risk their jobs,” Sainz emphasized.  Her staff  doesn’t understand why Graham made the allegations “when they are trying to meet his requirements.” Sainz said AZGOP didn’t return her calls seeking information on how to send their information electronically. Her report was submitted Oct 20, she said.

o   Gila County Recorder Sadie Jo Tumerlin was home tending to her two month old baby when Briefs caller her office. Briefs did not call her at home, but reports surfacing from Gila County are reflective of what the other county recorders reported.

·       Editor’s Note:  Briefs took down the AZGOP’s original 8-20-14 story when reports started surfacing that Graham’s allegations against the five county recorders were flawed. The original story can be viewed at See 8-21-14 MCRC Briefs at for  Graham’s Oct 21 press release.

·       Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney thrilled the crowd at the Get out the Vote Rally in Mesa last night.

·       “The 48th,” A New Political Talk Show Premiers at 6 pm, Sat., Oct 25 featuring past AZGOP Executive Director Kurt Davis vs former newsman Frank Camacho.  Replay at 4:30 am Monday. Davis is co-founder of First Strategic, a political communications firm and he currently serves on the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Camacho just spent a year and a half as the communications director for the Dems.  This combo should make for some lively conversations as both have been politically well-connect for years. Sen John McCain will be their guest for the premier show.  Secretary of State candidates Michelle Reagan (R) and Terry Goddard (D) are scheduled for the Nov 1 show, according to Davis.

·       Obama Has Awakened The Sleeping Giant - American Women  It is out all over the place now.  Polls are showing that women don’t feel safe with Obama and now prefer Republicans.  This has to be a huge slap upside the head to Obama that he doesn’t own the female block anymore.  Actually, he never did own most of us nor impress us with his tongue.  Moms, workers, Grandmas, business owners and generic ‘girlfriends’ knew the difference between fiction and non-fiction – lies and truth…

·       The Arizona Corporation Commission has called for a  Special Open Meeting/Workshop  9 am, Fri,  Nov 7.  Agenda: Special Open Meeting/Workshop. Click here for FAQ's regarding attendance and public comment at the Arizona Corporation Commission.

·      Watch A Man Stuffing Ballots Into A Ballot Box In The WMV Security Surveillance Video Recorded On August 25, 2014, at Maricopa County Elections MCTEC Facility surveillance video  This video had been viewed 370,000 times yesterday afternoon.  See full story as MCRC Chairman gives a detail account of what he witnessed.

·       Congressman  Matt Salmon today issued a Dear Colleague to Republican Members of the House of Representatives urging them to consider this administration’s repeated actions before moving legislation that would reform our immigration system. “The one question being asked by both the American people and the Congress is simple, ‘Can we trust President Obama?’  If the President truly wants to advance initiatives he is passionate about, he must stop attempting to bypass the duly enacted laws of Congress and start to rebuild the trust he has shattered with these self-serving and political policies.”  The full text of the Dear Colleague is available here.

·       Congressman Matt Salmon: This week, the USA Today printed a story that detailed deception on the part of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials when responding to congressional oversight on the release of 2,200 illegal immigrants. While the administration claimed these illegal immigrants were "low-level offenders", documents obtained by the USA Today showed them to be charged with crimes ranging from kidnapping and sexual assault to drug trafficking and murder. Today I sent a Dear Colleague letter Salmon's letter  to my fellow representatives outlining why this continued and unlawful unilateral action is destructive not only to the President's goal of reforming our immigration system, but also to the trust between the Presidency and the people of this nation.

·       Salmon’s Letter:  Dear Republican Colleague: We are all aware of the President’s continuous disregard for duly passed law, as is evident in his politically motivated implementation of our immigration laws. We have witnessed first-hand the disaster caused by announcing his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy with the crisis on the southern border earlier this year. Now, we are hearing reports that he is preparing millions of work permits for illegal immigrants, but waiting to unveil his politically unpopular plan until after the 2014 elections. Most recently, many Members of Congress had their concerns realized in a recent report from USA Today    As you may recall, many of us called into question and followed closely the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announcement last year that they released 2,200 undocumented criminal immigrants.  At the time, Congress and the American people were assured by administration officials that the immigrants released were only “low-level offenders”.Records now confirm that those released to the public included “people charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and homicide.” Astonishingly, “ICE managers in Washington did not know precisely who had been released until after the episode had been reported by the news media.” If the President truly wants to pass immigration reform, he must immediately stop unilateral implementation of self-serving policies through executive action, and commit to work with both chambers of Congress about this important issue. Republicans have shown a willingness to make important decisions for this nation, including immigration reform, but this will prove impossible if the President cannot be a trusted partner in any efforts to implement reform. – Matt Salmon, Member of Congress

·       Don’t Forget To Sign Your Mail In Ballots Envelope. Did you know that over 5,000 ballots in the primary weren't counted because they weren't signed and they arrived after the Primary.  It is suggested that you mail in your early ballots by Oct 30 so they are sure to be delivered to the Recorder’s office by Nov 4. Postmarks do not count.  If you don’t mail your ballot before Oct 30, take it to any polling place within your county.

·       All Mail-In Ballot Cities/Precincts: Voters in these areas should mail in their ballots in at least a week prior to the Nov 4 election to make sure their ballots are received in the County Recorder’s office prior to general election deadline.

o   Buckeye: Durango, Festival, Sundance West, Wyman

o   El Mirage: Dysart, El Mirage, Rancho Mirage, Soledad

o   Fountain Hills: Fountain Hills, Four Peaks, Golden Eagle, Palisades, Saguaro

o   Goodyear:  Desert Blossom, Desert Thunder, Desert Vista, Goodyear, Mobile, Palm Valley, Rio Paseo, Pebble Creek, Westar, Wildflower, Wigwam

o   Litchfield Park: Wigwam (in both Goodyear & Litchfield Park) Cheney, Doubletree, Kiva, Palo Cristi

o   Town of Paradise Valley

o   Queen Creek: Sanokai

Wickenburg: Wickenburg (those who reside within the city limits). The Wickenburg Community Center will be open for those living outside the Town limits.

The All Mail Cities/Towns are the same as they were for the Primary Election. Additionally, the Town of Carefree and City of Goodyear are holding an All Mail special elections in November. The Recorder’s office  will be mailing to voters in the All Mail Cities/Towns from the Primary even if they are not holding a General Election, according to Kristi Passarelli, Maricopa County Elections Dept

Please note that there are still polling locations for precincts that are split (where a portion of the precinct is within a mail ballot city/town and the other portion is not) For example: Wickenburg precinct – The people who live in the Town will get a ballot in the mail. The people who live outside the city boundaries (in Maricopa County) will vote at the community center. For voters to find their assigned polling location or replacement ballot location for all mail areas they need to use our locator:

·       Final Push To Get Out The Vote In CD 3.  This part of the orchestrated strategy is to simply make phone calls to Republicans in CD 3 who have not yet returned their early ballots. The bottom line is that CD3 candidate Gabby Saucedo Mercer wins if we can get enough Republicans in CD 3 to vote!  But that is not all; with a Gabby victory we should expect victories for the respective Republican State Senate and House Candidates in LD 4, LD 13, LD 19 and LD 29 and our efforts will also assist our State-wide candidates too.  Voters said that you want to get rid of the leftist incumbent Raul Grijalva, now is your chance to act! We have thousands of calls to make and Gabby needs your help. I promise you that it is really easy; you can secure the vote of 100 Republicans in just a few hours.  If 100 contacts if too many, then just ask for 50. For a sample script and a phone list contact Andrew Costanzo, or 480 677-0697.

·       AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham: Lobbyist Fred DuVal’s campaign for governor is losing steam by the day as more and more Arizonans learn about his record of working as a special interest influence peddler in addition to his support for President Obama’s liberal policies.  Under Obama, the national debt has reached nearly $18 trillion dollars and DuVal intends to take Arizona down the same path making nearly $5 billion in campaign promises he has no way to pay for.  As a result, DuVal would be forced to break his word to Arizonans and raise taxes or make devastating cuts to schools.

·       Following Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Fred Duval’s stunning admission that he opposes Arizona’s parental-consent law – even for girls as young as 14 – Arizona Republican Party Chairman Robert Graham called for Democratic Attorney General candidate Felecia Rotellini to say whether she feels the same way. “Arizona law is crystal clear that minors must receive consent from at least one parent before seeking an abortion,” Graham said. “Arizona voters deserve to know whether Felecia Rotellini would uphold and defend this law, or whether she stands with Fred DuVal who said he believes parents should have no say in such a critical decision in their child’s life."  “There is reason to doubt Rotellini would uphold the law on this critical issue,” Graham continued. “Planned Parenthood, a leading opponent of parental-consent laws across the country, endorsed her candidacy in 2010 and again in 2014.” See Graham’s complete statement at

·       "Lobbyist Fred DuVal’s promises are more than 42 percent of Arizona’s budget,” said Robert Graham, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party.  “It's time for DuVal to tell Arizonans the truth about whose taxes he will raise or which education programs he will slash to fund his reckless spending proposals."

·       LD28 Shawnna Bolick: As you know, we’re in a very competitive race for the Arizona House in Legislative District 28 (LD 28) and the road to victory begins with you.  Each and every day I meet voters, small business owners and families who continue to suffer from failed government policies that our opponent supports.  Voters are well aware of our current representation and believe he is not the answer when they want a better education for their children, higher paying jobs, lower taxes, business friendly regulations, and the ability to make their own health care decisions. To move Arizona in the right direction, I need your help today.  We remain very optimistic about our chances to unseat an extreme liberal incumbent on November 4th, but I need your help to achieve our goal  I will be dedicating every minute between now and November 4th to get out the vote.  Can I count on your support?  Please consider making a donation or volunteering for our campaign.  It takes a team to win this battle in the home stretch and I hope I can count on your support. We have an unprecedented opportunity to regain control of both House seats in LD28.  Please join me, and let’s be part of a winning team!  Thank you for your support.

·       CD1 Candidate Andy Tobin: We just looked at the clock and were shocked to see it’s already Friday afternoon. That means it’s almost the beginning of the weekend. But not for Team Tobin. For us, that means we have just 11 days until Election Day. 11 days to get out the vote, meet with voters, and push out our message.  Can you donate $250, $100, $50, or even $25 to help us out in the final days of this campaign?  We’re looking forward to the Friday after Election Day, when we can celebrate all our hard work.  But for now, we’re keeping our heads down and focused on defeating Ann Kirkpatrick.  Let’s win this thing!

·        Gubernatorial Candidate Doug Ducey:  More ballots were cast this week, and the momentum keeps growing in favor of our campaign.  We released a video from Democratic State Rep Catherine Miranda, hosted a veteran’s forum in Sierra Visa, and topped it off with a Victory Rally with former GOP Presidential Nominee and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.  Victory Rally --You could feel the momentum last night as nearly 2,000 people packed into the Mesa Convention Center to hear from Gov. Romney and see the entire statewide GOP ticket and other current and former elected officials. Catherine Miranda video -- Wednesday, we released a video focusing on Miranda’s decision to cross the aisle and endorse our campaign.  She states in the video, “After meeting with Doug several times, I learned that my first instinct was true.  He has the desire to do what’s right and that doesn’t fall into a Democrat or Republican line of thinking, it falls into an Arizona, all people, line of thinking.” Sierra Vista Veterans Forum-- Sunday, we met with veterans and citizens at a town hall in Sierra Vista.  Ducey answered questions regarding his stances on immigration, education, the economy as well as the many military installation in Southern Arizona. It's been a great week, but we can't let up now.  Please commit to volunteer in the next 11 days! Thanks for your support.

They push for Sharia Law to be implemented in schools. Cashiers at Target stores won’t touch packaged bacon. They demand footbaths be provided and Hilal food…
