· ATTN PCS. The download links on MCRC web site have been fixed. You can view the 13 resolutions and a bylaw change proposal for the Jan 11 MCRC meeting resolutions and by- law proposal at http://maricopagop.org/ This information was in your call letters.
· Something To Think About: Concern has surfaced regarding a clause in proposed bylaw change - Article II Section 2E 10 that reads: “The PC shall provide the district, county, and state party offices with their email addresses, if they have one. District, county and state party offices may not allow e-mail addresses to be used for any purpose other than internal party communications and shall not distribute an e-mail address to anyone, including other PC's without the express consent of the affected precinct committeeman.”
While this provides protection for personal e-mail addresses and should prevent officials from using/abusing the e-dress for their own personal agendas/campaigns/endorsements etc; it also provides the same party officials with a lot of power/control (depending on how they interpret “internal communications” ) and prevents LD Chairs from providing their own PCs with a list of fellow PCs – thus impeding communications between PCs within their own districts.
· Six Maricopa County Republican Committeemen Have Announced Candidacy for five member-at-large positions to be elected during the Jan 11 Maricopa County Republican meeting. A five-man team consisting of Dan Schultz (LD18), Joe Hobbs (LD19), Andy Costanzo (LD27), Gary Johnson (LD18) and Ray Sweeney (LD2) are running as a slate. Candidate Mike Richardson (LD18) is running separately. The candidates pledge, statements and bios are posted in the 1-6-14 MCRC Briefs. http://briefs.maricopagop.org/.
· ATTN PCs: PCs Are Urged To Stay Through The Entire Jan 11 Meeting in case of
ü tied votes that may go to a second ballot and
ü they can sign the petition to censure Sen. John McCain - if that resolutions it passes
ü installation of newly elected Members at Large.
· A Resolution To Censure Sen. John McCain will go before the Maricopa County Republican Precinct Committeemen during the Jan 11 Mandatory meeting. · Apache County Republican Committee Passed A Resolution To Censure Sen. John McCain at their meeting last night.
Apache County Republican Committee Resolution
to Censure Senator John McCain
In Support of the Maricopa County Republican Committee
As leaders in the Republican Party, we are obligated to fully support our Party platform, and its candidates. Only in times of great crisis or betrayal is it necessary to publicly censure our leaders. Today we are faced with both. For too long we have waited, hoping Senator McCain would return to our Party’s values on his own. That has not happen. So with sadness and humility we rise and declare:
ü WHEREAS Senator McCain has amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as Amnesty, funding for ObamaCare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the Constitution and 2nd Amendment, and has continued to support liberal nominees:
ü WHEREAS this record has been disastrous and harmful to Arizona and the United States; and,
ü WHEREAS Senator McCain has campaigned as a conservative and made promises during his re-election campaigns, such as the needed and welcomed promise to secure our borders and finish the border fence, only to quickly flip-flop on those promises; and,
ü WHEREAS McCain has abandoned our core values and has been eerily silent against Liberals, yet publicly reprimands Conservatives in his own Party,
ü THEREFORE, in support of Maricopa County Republican leadership and initiative in introducing a like resolution,
ü BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Apache County Republican Committee censures Senator McCain for his continued disservice to our State and Nation, and
ü BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that until he consistently champions our Party’s Platform and values, we the Republican leadership in Arizona will no longer support, campaign for, or endorse John McCain as our U.S. Senator.
Signed by : Jill Skaufel, Second Vice-Chairman for Apache County Republican Committee 1-9-14
· GOP Activist And Arizona Game And Fish Commissioner Kurt Davis has a new future hunting/fishing companion. He became a grandpa to Finley "Finn" Jude Greve at 11:41 am this morning. Congrats to the family.
· CD2 Candidate Ed Martin Has Withdrawn From The GOP Congressional Primary: Martin - “As a result of unforeseen personal family challenges that have required and will continue to require my undivided attention, I find it necessary to withdraw from the Republican primary for Congress in CD-02.I deeply appreciate the support of those who have joined in this effort during the past months as we have tested the waters and worked to build a foundation for a successful campaign. Sue and I have found it necessary to tend to family matters and it would be unfair to ask those who have pledged to support this campaign, either financially or with their time, to do so given the personal challenges we find that we must confront. There are two other viable candidates for the GOP. Either would be better than the weak representation we now have. It continues to be my hope that Southern Arizona will send a common sense conservative to Washington who can effectively fight to reverse the damage that has been done to our economy and constitutional protections. Our next Representative should be someone who can effectively fight to improve Southern Arizona and safeguard our community from federal decisions that hurt us.”
