Irony - The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 47 million people as of the most recent figures available in 2013. Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves." – Author Unknown

March 10, 2014

·       Senator John McCain Has Finally Worn Out His Welcome?   “We are told former Senator Jon Kyl had asked the four GOP House members - Franks, Gosart, Salmon and Schweikert - to help him raise funds for McCain's re-election. All four declined. One of them will probably become the 2016 GOP nominee either by defeating McCain in the primary or by his recognition that his time has come - and passed.”  - Southern Arizona News-Examiner

·       McCain Most Hated Senator In America “John McCain has to be one of the worst Republicans of all time.  Does he ever even side with the GOP on votes?  It seems like he’s collaborating with the Democrats more so than his own party.” – Conservative Tribune

·       Carolyn S.  Cox, Pima County Republican Chairman: “President Obama is the most ‘money-grubbing’ and callous individual who has ever occupied the White House.  He is so desperate for money that he would throw poor Washington D.C. children into permanent welfare to protect the union controlled schools.  He knows the funding for his dependency producing agenda comes from, to a large extent, union dues.”

·       Gubernatorial Candidate Frank Riggs – former Congressman and long-time Arizona businessman -  is promising to end the "Obamanization of Arizona" as part of his plan for the fiscal solvency and economic revitalization of Arizona.  "Common Core and the Obamacare Medicaid expansion infringe on Arizona's constitutional responsibilities for K-12 education and indigent health care," Riggs said.  "And the costs to implement and comply with these federal mandates will compound the state's structural budget deficit, which left unchecked, will balloon into billions of dollars." We all know that Obamacare is fundamentally flawed and not actuarially sustainable from an insurance standpoint. When it's ultimately repealed and replaced with a market choice system, we'll still be left with Medicaid expansion.  Furthermore, it's disingenuous of supporters of Obamacare to intimate that the federal funds for Medicaid expansion are in a sense 'free' - and Arizona would be foolish to refuse the federal funds - when Arizonans obviously pay federal taxes, and will have to bear a share of the national debt to cover Medicaid expansion in Arizona and other states.” Riggs concluded, "At the end of the day, Arizona has to balance its budget and the Feds do not, which is why we have an obscene national debt that threatens the future of our kids and grandkids.  My administration will be financially responsible and address Arizona’s fiscal challenges.  Deficits are exploding and the middle class is disappearing.  We need new Republican leadership with the proven ability and courage to make the tough but right decisions vital to Arizona's future."

·       CD9 Candidate Andrew Walter On Kyrsten Sineman’s Decision: "Kyrsten Sinema's deliberation about abandoning AZ-09 demonstrates her campaign is in trouble. The fact she considered abandoning her constituents is another example of Sinema’s complete lack of leadership.  Regardless of her decision, the idea that she would consider putting her own interests above the hard working Arizona families she supposedly represents is reprehensible.  The voters in District Nine deserve real leadership, and a commitment to represent them without putting their own interests first.  Arizonans have made it clear they want a fresh voice in Washington, not another career politician who puts their finger to the wind or a retread candidate who's been repeatedly rebuked at the polls.   As your Congressman, I will restore a promise of economic freedom and prosperity by helping to create good-paying jobs and opportunities for all hardworking Arizona families. But most importantly, I will always put the voters of my district first, not my own political career."  Contact: 480- 447-5492

·       Former AZGOP Executive Director Sean McCaffrey  is among the top guns who converted Connect Strategic Communications, a nationally recognized digital communications and marketing firm, into a top-to-bottom rebrand as BEAST Digital. The new firm will remain headquartered in Dallas, TX, while operating offices in Washington, D.C. and Phoenix. BEAST also launched its new online home at beastdigital.com and on Twitter @BEASTdigital. McCaffrey, who previously ran Phoenix-based Gryphon Strategies, was the Exec Dir of the AZGOP during the 2007/8 election cycle, when US Senator John McCain won the Republican presidential nomination. McCaffrey has served as the NRCC deputy research director and national coalitions director, political director of the Washington State GOP, and campaign manager, finance director or consultant to more than 200 federal, state and local campaigns.

·       Brett Mecum, Another Former AZGOP Official, is celebrating his one-year anniversary as an employee at the Arizona Attorney General’s office.

·       LD1 Sen Steve Pierce: “Last week the Senate heard a bill that would unravel Common Core, education standards designed by educators, business leaders and local officials from all over the country.  I am proud that I voted in defense of Common Core, and in defense of better education for Arizona's children.  This weekend I received an email from Governor Jeb Bush, thanking me for my support of education. “

·       LD28 – A Secretary Of State Candidates Forum will highlight the 7 pm, Tues., March 11 LD28 Mtg In The Madison School Board Bldg, 7th St & Missouri, Phx.  Contact:  Deborah Lavinsky   Azld28correspondingsecretary@Gmail.Com

·       LD1 Sen Steve Pierce: “As a 3rd generation Arizonan, I am very aware of all that Arizona has to offer her citizens and visitors.  Last weekend I had the honor of traveling to Washington, DC, to share that perspective with the RNC’s Location Committee. Phoenix is among the cities being considered as the host for the 2016 Republican National Convention.  As part of the bid process, a delegation from Arizona, including myself, Senator McCain, Senator Kyl, Speaker Tobin, representatives from Visit Phoenix, event organizers and Derrick Hall of the Arizona Diamondbacks went to DC to present a case for why the RNC should chose Phoenix.”
