·       Easiest Way to Sign Candidate’s Petition: Log into the Secretary of State’s website. Driver’s license required.

 

·       First day petitions can be submitted: April 28, 2014 – Deadline: May 28, 2014

    

·       Over 30 GOP Candidates, Including Eight Of The Gubernatorial Contestants, are scheduled to participate in the Sun City West Republican Club Candidate’s Forum scheduled from 2-5 pm, March 15 in the Webb Room of the Foundations Building, 14465 R H Johnson Blvd, Sun City West. Each candidate will be given a set amount of time to make a presentation. The audience may  submit questions for the candidates, according to Forum Chairman Jan Martinson. ·       LD23 PC Martin Sepulveda dropped out of the legislative race due to a change to his military obligations.

 

·       Luke Air Force Base Open  House & Air Show schedule  March 15 and 16.  This is the first show in three years. See restrictions, what’s allowed on base, what’s not.  Free Admission.  Parking Fee $10. Displays.  9 a.m. - gates open, static aircraft viewable, vendors open; 11 am to 4 pm - air shows; 6 pm gates closed. 

 

·       Darryl Jacobson-Barnes, a candidate for the Kyrene Justice of Peace Court, is asking for volunteers to help gather petition sigantures for her. ·       Sen John McCain On The Official Unveiling of first of 144 F-35 Lightning II aircraft planned to be stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona: “The arrival of the first  F-35A Lightning II at Luke Air Force Base is a product of years of hard work by mayors and city council members of thirteen neighboring municipalities, as well as the base and its outstanding civic support groups. ·       The Maricopa County Recorder Kiosk Dedication and Ribbon Cutting celebration is scheduled at 10 am, March 19 at the Goodyear Branch Library, 14455 W Van Buren, Goodyear.  Meet and greet Maricopa County Board of Supervisor #4 Clint Hickman, Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell, Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord, Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox, and Cindy Kolaczynski, director of the Maricopa County Library District.  Light refreshments will be served.  Information:  mc kiosk dedication

 

·       District 4 Board Supervisor Clint Hickman and his predecessor Max Wilson were among the dignitaries cutting the ribbon at recent Goodyear Branch Library opening.  Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord and City Councilwoman Wallie  Campbell (both LD13 PCs) were also clipping the ribbon, along with District 5 Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox. Goodyear Branch Library is one of 17 libraries operated by the Maricopa County Library District. Library cards are free to Maricopa County citizens. MCLD card holders, including Goodyear Branch cardholders, have access to more than 5.9-million downloadable library items online. Goodyear Branch Library is located at 14455 W. Van Buren in Goodyear. ·       Phx City Councilman Jim Waring is hosting Congressman David Schweikert at the monthly District 2 meeting at 8 am, March 22 in the Paradise Valley Mall Food Court, 4568 E Cactus Rd., Phx. They will be discussing the political scene in both Phoenix and Washington, DC.

 

·       CD4 Congressional Art Competition; Deadline April 23 - Competition is open to all high school students from CD4. The first place winner will be flown to Washington, D.C. for an awards banquet and will have his or her artwork displayed in the US Capitol Complex for one year. ·       According to Congressman Paul Gosar there were several different names proposed for the city of Prescott, including “Aztlan", “Audubon”, and “Goodwin City.” In the end, “Prescott” was chosen to honor William Hickling Prescott, author of The History Of The Conquest Of Mexico. According to the Arizona Miner, this name was chosen because Prescott was considered "a good citizen, a true patriot, with industry, perseverance under difficulty, amiability of character and love of country."

·       The AZCDL Is Raffling Off Three Glock Model 23 Gen 4 Pistols. These pistols are chambered for .40 S&W and come with interchangeable grip back straps. Included with each pistol are 3 standard capacity magazines. Only 900 tickets have been printed and each ticket represents 3 chances to win. Tickets can be purchased at AzCDL’s online store.
