·       ATTN MCRC PCs: MCRC Chairman A.J. LaFaro Regarding Republicans Endorsing Non-Republicans - I’ve been receiving phone calls, v-mails and e-mails complaining about people and groups of people who say they are Republicans but are endorsing Non-Republican candidates. Some examples are “GOP for Fred”, “Republicans for Barber”, “GOP For Felecia”, yard signs, blog postings, websites, campaign contributions.

o   http://blogforarizona.net/gop-for-fred-launches/

o   http://ronbarberforcongress.com/news/more-than-100-southern-arizona-republicans-endorse-ron-barber-republican-leaders-stand-with-ron-at-kick-off-of-southern-arizona-values-tour/

o   https://www.feleciaforarizona.com/gop-felecia

It’s bad enough these people endorse RINOs for elected office, but then turn around and endorse Democrats, Independents and Libertarians over some of our Republican nominees.  I’m as outraged at these so-called Republicans as you are.  We are in the process of trying to identify any Republican PCs who are endorsing and supporting Non-Republicans, and will be removing their voting rights and censuring them in accordance to the 2014 MCRC Bylaws.  These individuals will not be eligible to vote in any LD, MCRC or AZGOP election. MCRC_ByLaws -   Section 5 – Elections --  B. Endorsements of Non-Republican Candidates

o   No member of the MCRC shall lend an endorsement to a non-Republican candidate in any election that has a Republican candidate on the ballot.

o   Should a MCRC member endorse a non-Republican, that MCRC member will lose his voting privileges, including proxies, for the rest of his term, provided:

o   The member was provided written notice mailed via certified US mail to the member's last known address,

o   The members was provided an opportunity to defend himself at the next EGC meeting but not less than 10 days after notification,

o   The EGC by majority vote removed the member's voting rights.

Please forward the names of any individuals who are Republican PCs but are endorsing Non-Republican candidates and the evidence to aj_ml@hotmail.com as soon as possible.

·       The Arizona Republican Party Today Launched A Petition to tell Democratic Gubernatorial Nominee and Lobbyist Fred DuVal: Don’t bankrupt Arizona! DuVal has made spending promises on the campaign trail totaling nearly $4 billion ($3,918,695,000.00 to be precise). His reckless spending promises are approximately a 42% increase from our current state budget. At a debate last week in Tucson, DuVal promised not to raise taxes. In fact, his exact words were, “No new taxes, read my lips.” With a projected budget deficit of more than $280 million in FY2015, and a promise already to drain the rainy day fund, voters are concerned about his spend-spend-spend approach to governing “With a projected budget deficit of more than $280 million in FY2015, and a promise already to drain the rainy day fund, voters are concerned about his spend-spend-spend approach to governing, and rightly so,” said AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham.  “If DuVal is not going to raise taxes, how will he finance his nearly $4 billion in new spending promises without bankrupting Arizona?  If DuVal can’t answer that question, it means he has been lying to Arizonans. It is time for this career Washington, D.C. lobbyist to start telling Arizona voters the truth they deserve.”

DuVal’s Spending Promises:

1. Private-Public Rail Line connecting Tucson and Phoenix -Estimated Cost: $3.6 Billion (at a minimum) (According to ADOT’s Passenger Rail Corridor Study)

2. Restore Funding to the Child Care Assistance Program -

Estimated Cost: $80 Million annually (Fred, said in his plan this is how much has been “slashed” over the last several years)

3. Restore All-Day Kindergarten - Estimated Cost: $218 Million annually (Cost of All-Day Kindergarten prior to the recession)

4. Erase Student Debt for Teachers Staying in Arizona for Five Years - Estimated Cost: $195,000 (Estimate based on tuition costs for one-tenth of Arizona’s teachers, assuming they graduate in the top third of their class and stay in Arizona for five years)

5. Increase Financial Aid to Students - Estimated Cost: $20 Million minimum

(Estimate assumes doubling current state investment for financial aid)

6. New Agency to Investigate Political Insiders – Estimated. Cost: $500,000 annually plus one-time costs to establish agency

(Estimate based on other small state agency operating funds)

·       Congressman David Schweikert: Do you love taking photos of your backyard or the sunsets across the city? When you live in Congressional District 6, you're familiar with the beautiful vistas of desert scenery. We're looking to revamp our website with photos from the people of the District. Join the contest by emailing us a high resolution version of your favorite photo of #AZ06 to AZ06photo@mail.house.gov.We'll announce the winner on Friday, October 3!

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: On Friday I introduced the Travel and Resource Access Including Local Stakeholders (TRAILS) Act. This legislation puts local communities and stakeholders in the driver seat for developing travel management plans that affect their livelihoods on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) acreage. Unfortunately, access to public lands has been hampered by decisions from bureaucrats within the BLM and has a detrimental impact to local communities across the country. I heard about this issue first hand from my constituents when the BLM Yuma office proposed to close nearly 50% of the trails in the area with the release of the draft La Posa Travel Management Plan.OHV recreation contributes nearly $4 billion annually to Arizona’s economy, supports 40,000 jobs and generates nearly $200 million in sales taxes. Local communities are the first to be affected by changes in travel and access management decisions, yet, are routinely left out of the development discussion. The BLM shouldn’t be harming local communities and limiting access to public lands all in the name of pursuing a misguided agenda. I will continue to fight this overreach. An article from the Parker Pioneer about the town hall I held on this issue back in April can be found HERE.

·       Republicans:  We Are Out Numbered In Southwest Maricopa County But We Can Win In This 2014 Midterm Election, But Only With Your Help.  Every Vote Counts!  Get your family, friends, neighbors and fellow patriots involved.  Volunteer opportunities are available for you to share campaign literature, engage your neighbors, make phone calls, display a lawn sign, host a candidate “Meet and Greet,” and encourage your friends and neighbors to donate to our candidates.  Contact CD 3, Maricopa County Coordinator, Andrew Costanzo at, keepazred@hotmail.com or 480 677-0697.

·       The Deadline For To Register For The General Election Is Oct. 6.  Early voting begins Oct. 9. Register online here.

·       CD3 Candidate Gabby Saucedo-Mercer Needs Your Help with “Phone Calls For Gabby!”   There are more Democrats than Republicans in CD 3, so Gabby must get all Republicans and some of the Independent vote to win.  In addition to visiting them, we are now contacting them by phone.  Volunteers can make calls from home: the contact lists and the call script are supplied.  Typically you can reach 30 numbers in 30 minutes and in most cases you just leave a message.  Contact Andrew Costanzo at keepazred@hotmail.com or call 480 677-0697 to volunteer.  Gabby needs your help!

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: This past week the Government Accountability Office released a deeply disturbing report showing that taxpayer dollars have been used to fund abortion coverage by many insurance providers around the country despite the President's promise that "no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place". This latest broken promise from the Obama Administration is without a doubt the most shameful discovery yet as we are still ‘finding out what is in the bill’. For decades members of Congress on both sides of the isle and of all faiths have come to the common understanding that taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund abortion procedures. This utterly failed healthcare law, as well as the administration that jammed it through Congress, has no more credibility with the American people. This violation of the law must not stand and I will continue to work with my colleagues in the House to replace this unlawful legislation with a patient-centered, free market healthcare alternative that does not violate the trust of the American people. The full GAO report can be found HERE.

·       Destroying Political Signs is a Class 2 Misdemeanor  (ARS 16-1019 –political  signs http://www.azleg.gov/ars/16/01019.htm )  if caught  and prosecuted. If you see someone destroying or messing with Republican political signs for candidates in the General Election in Maricopa County, please photograph them and take the photos to the victims or send them to MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro aj_ml@hotmail.com

·       Congressman Matt Salmon: Looking for a New Flag that Comes with a Story? If you’re looking to buy an American flag, get in touch with my office to order one.  At your request, it can be flown over the U.S. Capitol and will come with a certificate with the date and time it was flown.  For more information, contact my Washington office at (202) 225-2635 or through this link: http://salmon.house.gov/services/flags

·       Rep. David Schweikert is accepting U.S. Military Service Academy nomination applications until Fri, Oct 10, 2014. Details about the academy application process and the nomination application process can be found website here.

·        Congressman Paul Gosar: It was my great honor to help an Arizona family restore the cherished memory and military medals of an American hero, Thomas L. Cullon. My office had been working with Thomas Cullon’s family to replace his World War II medals that were stolen during a burglary in 1974. Thomas courageously served in the U.S. Air Force and passed away in 1971. Last month, I was able to present the replaced medals to Thomas’s daughter, Crystal Koons. His medals included; the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (Army), the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. These medals were valiantly earned and represent the sacrifice and patriotism of Thomas Cullon. His family rightly deserves the honor and pride accompanied with these medals so that none may forget his military service. You can read more about this from the Prescott Daily Courier HERE.

·       All Precinct Committeemen (PCs) from the past term elected or appointed that did not run for PC are no longer PC's. The only PCs the Legislative Districts (LDs) and MCRC have are the ones elected in the August 26 Primary. That said, ALL current LD  Executive Officers retain their office until the LD organizational meetings in November and December when the new elections are conducted.  In essence LD officers complete their term of office they were elected to. – MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro

·       ATTN: Candidates/LD leaders/Group Chairman:  If you have sent events or announcements to Briefs that have not been posted (except endorsements) or that I have not responded to, please resend them. Messages can be sent to repcomm@cox.net    frosty@mcrcbriefs.org  or frostytaylor@cox.net  If I do not respond with “thx” within 24 hours, please resend – using one or all of the above e-dressses.  I’d rather get duplications than not receive your e-mails.

·       Republican Candidate Announcements, fundraiser, neighborhood walks and other events can be sent to repcomm@cox.net for posting in the Briefs.  In fairness to all GOP primary candidates, Briefs does not post endorsements, nor does it endorse any GOP candidates prior to the primary. See Briefs at Http://Archives.Mcrcbriefs.Org/

WHAT CANDIDATES ARE SAYING:

Send to repcomm@cox.net or frosty@mcrcbriefs.org  Briefs does NOT endorse candidates, nor candidate statements. Statements longer than 250/300 words will be edited/condensed.

·       Scottsdale City Council Candidate Linda Milhaven: Transportation is a priority for the future of our community.  We must improve our bus and trolley service.  As our citizens age, our senior population looks for alternatives to driving to help them maintain their independence. Increasingly, young professionals are looking to get out of their cars and find green, sustainable options to get around town.  Our inadequate transportation connections are jeopardizing our long-term livability and economic sustainability. To address this issue, Council directed staff to complete a transportation study. This study will be ready next year and will be a starting point to begin a community conversation to find short and long term solutions. I am committed to creating better transportation connections for today and for our future.

·       Former Gubernatorial Candidate Christine Jones:  We have an opportunity to make significant change on the Maricopa County Community College Board this election cycle. The Board has the ability to reduce property taxes throughout the county, as well as decrease tuition costs.  At the moment, however, the Board is controlled by members who have increased taxes by 2% and increased tuition by 63% in the last ten years. This must stop! Please join me in my support of each of these conservatives: Jean McGrath - District 3, John Heep – At Large, Tracy Livingston – At Large and Johanna Haver - District 4.

CD1 Candidate Andy Tobin: This is urgent - turn on your TV. Right now. You won’t like what you see. I’m sure you’ve already seen the ads. Nancy Pelosi and her liberal allies are spending Millions Of Dollars in rural Arizona to dominate the airwaves and smear our good friend Andy Tobin. Andy is fighting back, but he needs your help. Andy is just 6 days away from the Final, most important quarterly fundraising deadline of the year.
Can you chip in $100, $50, or even $25 Right Now to help Andy meet his goal for this important fundraising deadline? We need Andy’s message of limited government and spending cuts representing us in Washington. We need Andy fighting ObamaCare, the debt, and the EPA. We need him fighting President Obama’s liberal agenda. Nancy Pelosi knows that conservative values are popular in rural Arizona. That’s why she’s ready to spend whatever it takes to defeat him in November. We can fight back. Donate whatever you can, today, to help Andy meet the most urgent fundraising deadline of the year.
I know that he - and I - can count on you to stand with us. – Paul Babeu, Pinal County Sheriff
