ü  Chairman – Tyler Bowyer

ü  First Vice-Chairman – Jeni White

ü  Second Vice-Chairman – Aaron Border

ü  Secretary – Matt Eberle

·       Congratulations To Newly Elected MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer and his new board. Briefs  wishes the best to the new officers in their efforts to provide leadership for the next two years. Briefs commends the other candidates who offered their services to the county party. It takes a great deal of internal fortitude to graciously step aside when the tallies roll in. For the betterment of the county party, let the campaign wounds heal and let’s move forward in our efforts for increased Republican wins in 2016.   - FT

·       A Big Thank You To The Outgoing Officers who have given countless hours of their time, talent and treasury in behalf of the MCRC. Many folks are not aware of what your elected officers are subjected to during their term in office. Few take notice of the increase of gray hair, the frequent worried look around their eyes and concern on their faces, along with the toll of stress and increased fatigue as they deal with the never ending political bickering and infighting – both internal and external. Thank you for all of your hard work, your successes, your accomplishments and your services.  - FT

·       A Light-Hearted Report "What Does The MCRC Really Look Like" given by  MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro at the Jan 10 meeting as related to PCs.
       1.  Overall average age is 62.5
       2.  Mature/Silents, 70 and older, 633 (23%)

ü  David Burnell Smith

ü  Margot Wittenberg

ü  Harold ‘Ray’ Agee, Sr.

ü  Bess Marie Ammerman

ü  Dean Allen Brinkerhoff

ü  Jim DeVere

ü  Jim Hamerlin

·       CD 3 candidate Gabby Saucedo Mercer, who cut into Raul Grijalva’s 2 to 1 Democrat strong hold during the General Elections was in attendance yesterday  -- bright and shiny with a big smile and a positive attitude.  We haven’t seen the last of Gabby.  Bet she takes him out the next time around.

·       Clair Van Steenwyk Says he wasn’t even in the auditorium yesterday when someone nominated him to compete for the chairmanship of the MCRC.  Turns out his nomination had to be rejected because Van Steenwyk is no longer a PC –having fallen victim to the recent political cleansing of conservative PCs.

·       Outgoing MCRC Chairman A J LaFaro’s Wife deserves a big diamond for sharing her husband with the entire Maricopa County Republican Party for the past two years. It is the spouse who keeps the home fires burning when our officials are out politicking, answering phone calls day/night or juggling one crisis after another. Briefs has never met the lady, but she has to be a jewel!

·       And Talk About A Wife Who Deserves SainthoodJulia Graham, the cute, super pleasant wife of AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham, certainly deserves a diamond and an extra star in her crown considering her huband is out politicking day and night while she is home raising their  kids. Briefs has never seen the lady when she isn’t putting her best foot forward.  She is always a pleasure to see.

·       Sheriff Joe Informed The MCRC PCs yesterday that in June 2015 he will become the “longest elected Sheriff to have served Maricopa County.”

·       Sheriff Joe Praised Retired Law Enforcement Officers former AZGOP Chairman Tom Morrissey, former Sen Russell Pearce and LD23 Arizona Sen John Kavanagh for their services to the GOP.  He also condemned Pres. Obama for the “War against Cops” that is surfacing cross the nation.

·       Contrary To The Rumor Mill, incoming PCs appointees processed by outgoing Chairman A J LaFaro and the Maricopa County Recorder’s office since the Primary election are NOT allowed to vote at the Jan 10 MCRC and the Jan 24 AZGOP Statutory meetings.

·       On Jan 7, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors (BOS) rejected attempts to delay the appointment of Maricopa County Precinct Committeemen recently  submitted to them by the Recorders office.  See , click on video in the upper right hand corner, wait for it to load, then move the video bar along to about 1:12 minutes where the PC appointment issues comes to the floor.  There is some very interesting and revealing statements  by former LD30 Chairman Timothy Schwartz, along with Recorder Helen Purcell and Elections Officer Karen Osborne, who countered the pleas of Lisa James, Karen Owens and Attorney Kory Langhofer to set aside the appointments until after the Jan 24 AZGOP meeting.

The BOS approved the MCRC PC appointments -  concluding PCs appointed between the Primary election and the Jan 24 State Statutory meeting could NOT vote at the Jan 10 MCRC and Jan 24 AZGOP Statutory meetings anyway. While James and Owens insisted the appointments violate county/state statutes, the Records office and the BOS, pointed out that state statutes determine that it is the BOS responsibility to properly process what is forwarded to them, not become entangled in party bylaws.  See related story: Arizona GOP 'civil war' rages on with new dispute

·       Rep Phil Lovas Statement Regarding HB 2014, the bill meant to move the state to Mountain Daylight Time. “Last week I introduced House Bill 2014, which would have moved Arizona to Mountain Daylight Time.  I did this after having conversations with some in the business community about the challenges of Arizona not changing time zones.  I have received many responses to the proposed bill, and while some have favored it, the majority of the feedback has been against the idea for various reasons.  As an elected official I always listen to the voters.   Therefore, I have decided not to move the bill any further and asked the Speaker to hold the bill indefinitely, essentially killing it, so we can focus instead on the budget, public education, public safety and the many other serious issues currently facing our state.”

On Monday, I was sworn into office. You can
Inauguration remarks here. On Wednesday, I helped unveil a new anti-human trafficking campaign and made it clear that my office will be ramping up efforts to end this horrible crime against the most vulnerable members of our society. Thursday, I held a press conference with local law enforcement and Rep. Paul Boyer where I announced the recent conviction
of a child sexual predator and made it clear that I will be working with the legislature to increase resources to investigate and prosecute those who commit Internet crimes against children. I promised you that as your Attorney General I would return integrity to the office. I promised you that I would return the office to its core function as a law enforcement agency. As your Attorney General, I promise you I will continue to fight tirelessly for all Arizonans.

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: With 6 bills signed into law by the president, 12 other of my legislative efforts becoming law, and 25 of my amendments passing the House, I am honored and very proud to have been the most effective member of the 113th Congress. After dozens of town halls and meetings, thousands of calls and letters, Arizonans made their legislative priorities clear. I am pleased to have delivered on the important issues YOU identified including cutting waste, fraud and abuse from government spending, building a better environment for private job creation and holding the Obama Administration accountable for its actions and overreaching polices. I am constantly inspired by the hardworking citizens of the great state of Arizona and will continue to listen to your ideas and perspectives while delivering solutions to improve your life. legislative accomplishments HERE.

·       Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham statement on the handling of the investigation into former CIA Director David Petraeus: "While the facts of the case involving General David Petraeus remain unknown and are not suitable for comment, it is clear that this investigation has been grievously mishandled. It is outrageous that the highly confidential and law enforcement-sensitive recommendation of prosecutors to bring charges against General Petraeus was leaked to the New York Times. It is a shameful continuation of a pattern in which leaks by unnamed sources have marred this investigation in contravention to fundamental fairness. No American deserves such callous treatment, let alone one of America’s finest military leaders whose selfless service and sacrifice have inspired young Americans in uniform and likely saved many of their lives."

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: I want to offer my sincerest congratulations to Kayla Olsen of Lake Havasu City for receiving her appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy.
