·       LD13 Past 2nd Vice Chairman Ernie McCullom: A J LaFaro’s article  2-11-15-mcrc-briefs  about the rapid growth of Independents is proof that we of the Tea Party are the only true Americans left. We’re not far right kooks; we are the center. It is the Far Left the so called Progressives of the party that are out of line --the ultra rich that live in their exclusive enclaves like Paradise Valley or North Scottsdale and Carefree with their embracement of fake environmental movement to manipulate and rule our lives. A new party is needed.  -- Ernie Mc Collum

·       Former Cochise County First Vice-Chair Jim Ehl:   Think about it.  Why does Anyone join Any organization? Ever since the AZ GOP became a ‘secondary campaign committee’ for support of Republican candidates (RINOs included) who win the primary, it is certainly easy to see those candidates and their supporters favor registering as Republicans since there is money and support coming from the committee.  But how about John Q. Voter??  When the AZ GOP doesn’t offers its members, or registered Republicans, any information on candidates, no information on issues of importance to Republicans, no accountability for any elected elite betraying party trust, no support of its members and cowering to powerful elected elite (re – the McCain thing), why register as a Republican?  One can vote however they want in the primary.  However, if we can’t change the primary so that only Republicans can vote for Republicans, does anyone have any idea as to what to do to make Republican party registration more attractive??  Any idea of what ‘aligned political views’ mean? A closed primary makes sense.  Can a non-member of, say, the Rotary club vote for the club’s officers?  But as long as the AZ GOP has nothing to offer its members, why have a party?  To change back will be difficult. -    Jim Ehl

·       Firearms Expert/Author Alan Korwin to AZ Rep:  About "a statue in the temple of the nation's democracy..." on today's front page: America is not a democracy, it is a republic. The difference is crucial. The Founding Fathers were disdainful of democracy, rightfully so, and the word is found nowhere in our founding documents. Democracy is dangerous and to be avoided, a point well noted in their writings and subsequent political discourse.

Unlike a republic, a democracy lacks standards and protections for the public and minorities. It blows with the winds of the day, lacking principles, subject entirely to mob rule. Our Founders, understanding this implicitly, gave us a republic. The portion of today's public that is well educated knows this too.

This hasn't stopped reporters, politicians and uneducated educators from making the very error you made on page one, without notice by the entire editorial process. It's not a simple conflating of two seemingly similar words. It's an undermining of our entire notion of freedom. Words have meaning. Meaning matters.

I recommend a correction, but I fear I'm tilting at windmills, having made similar requests in the past, to deaf ears. This leads to a distressing conclusion I detest but which is increasingly true: The media is becoming one of the worst enemies of freedom in America today. Please make a lengthy erudite correction and prove that wrong. -- Alan Korwin, The Uninvited Ombudsman

·       Today, Congressman Paul A. Gosar introduced H.R. 924, the Responsibility in Federal Contracting Act, which would require the calculation of wages for public works projects be based on actual statistics calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): “For far too long, wages for public works projects have been determined by an outdated and flawed formula that sacrifices accuracy, jobs and billions of federal tax dollars. The current calculation dates back to the 1931 Davis-Bacon Act and is riddled with fraud and abuse as evidenced by multiple Inspector General (IG) and Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has proven time and time again that they are the only department capable of accurately determining these wages. Requiring the BLS to calculate these wages will save nearly $9 billion every year. We owe it to the American taxpayer to spend federal dollars in a more efficient manner, allowing for more jobs and worthwhile projects in the process. The Responsibility in Federal Contracting Act is about competition, equality, accuracy and transparency for everyone. My commonsense legislation will cut waste, create jobs and save billions. This bill will restore a fair wage for a fair job that is fair to the American taxpayer.”  Full text of H.R. 924 HERE.
