·       Lawmakers To Obama: Declassify-Remaining 28 Pages Of The 9/11 Report:    A bipartisan group of lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pressuring the White House to declassify 28 pages of the 9/11 Commission Report that have been rumored to detail an investigation into alleged ties between Saudi Arabia and Al-Qaeda.These pages have been classified since the original report was released during the presidency of George W. Bush, and President Barack Obama has so far declined to declassify them. While it’s unclear exactly what the contents of the documents are, several current and former lawmakers who have read the pages say they illustrate links between the Saudi government and some of the terrorists responsible for attacking the World Trade Center and Pentagon back in 2001.

ü  declassify the 28 pages  What’s hidden in those 28 pages??

ü  Watch: declassify the 28 pages on 9/11.  support H,.Res.14

ü  New Light Cast on Secret Pages in Sept. 11 Report  Sen Bob Graham’s finding from the Congressional Joint Inquiry -- that the Saudis were tied to the funding of the 9/11 attacks. Philip D. Zelikow, executive director of the 9/11 Commission, has tried to refute this.

·       Today Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas  visited classrooms at Colonel Smith Middle School in Fort Huachuca and Valley View Elementary School in Hereford, AZ . On Thursday, Douglas met Supt of the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) H.T. Sanchez and visited classes at Poston Butte High School in Florence and Rincon High School in Tucson.

Douglas originally met with Sanchez in early January after the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) found TUSD in violation of ARS §15-112. At that time, both leaders said they considered correction of the violation a high priority. “I continue to be encouraged that Superintendent Sanchez is working with the state to bring coursework into compliance with the law,” said Douglas. “It was very valuable for both of us to make an unannounced visit together to monitor the progress of these changes in one of the classrooms. I hope we can continue our cooperation, bring the coursework into legal compliance, and build a strong and lasting relationship with TUSD.”  ADE gave the school district a 60-day period to correct the violation, which ends on March 4, 2015. TUSD risks losing 10 percent of its monthly apportionment of state aid unless the violation is corrected. The Superintendent supports inclusion of all ethnic groups in the design of standards, curriculum and instruction for Arizona all students. “Arizona students should know the rich diversity of all ethnic groups,” Douglas said. She has created a Latino Education Advisory Committee, which will conduct its initial meeting March 3, 2015. All committee meetings will be open to the public. The advisory committee’s work will focus on reducing and removing barriers the Latino community faces and on ways to include all ethnicities as an integral part of all appropriate instruction.

·       Today Senate Bill 1191 Was Signed Into Law, immediately ending the AIMS high school graduation requirement. This action means that any students scheduled to take one or more sections of the AIMS test next week will no longer be required to do so. "I congratulate the Legislature and Governor Doug Ducey for removing this last vestige of high stakes testing," said Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas. "I hope this decision relieves much of the stress that parents and their children face when a high stakes test determines whether or not a student can graduate from high school. High academic standards and tests that provide information and accountability are very important, but placing all the responsibility and stress on individual students for the success of our educational system is unfair." Until today, students had to pass the reading, writing and mathematics portions of the AIMS test in order to receive a high school diploma. The requirement was previously set to expire Dec. 31, 2016. Testing will still be available next week for those students wishing to take AIMS for scholarship eligibility or other personal reasons. Parents or families with questions about testing availability in these situations should contact their student's school. Future planned administrations of the test will be canceled.
