·       Publisher Anita Christy To Gov Doug Ducey And Arizona Senators: “Oh, the evils that have resulted from Arizona’s adoption of the Common Core State Standards.  A few years ago, most Arizonans hadn’t heard of Common Core, even though those who support Common Core insist that hundreds of teachers, experts, and the public were involved in “developing the standards.”  Common Core was dropped into the laps of teachers, kids, and parents who instantly felt a barrier go up between them and their children’s schools.  Parents could no longer help their 6-year olds with homework, making them appear ignorant to their children.

One of the evils is the Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching (AZ Merit) test - a high-stakes assessment that will collect personally identifiable information on students in grades 3 – 12. This test will line the pockets of big businesses and will take away unprecedented local control of our schools and student data.  See

Some parents are refusing to allow their children to take the test that will be administered in every school in Arizona beginning March 30.  Many schools are doubling down against parents who are Opting Out of the AZMerit test.  School officials are bullying and intimidating parents and children.  Some of their responses:

1.  Threaten to drop child from enrollment.

2.  Ridicule parent.

3.  AG said you cannot opt out.

4.  Your refusal letter is not valid.

5.  You do not have that right.

6.  Send your letter to the district -- get their input.

7.  District lawyer says you cannot NOT opt out or refuse this test.

8.  This will count toward your child's GPA teacher-lies-to-students

They forget that parents are the ultimate authority in the protection of their children.  Sample Opt Out letters:  Please vote YES to HB2246 and to HB2190.

McSally will arrive for rappel training at 1:50 pm and start her rappel at 2:50 pm.

·       Congressman Trent Franks: After House Passage of H. Con. Res 27 which establishes the budget for the United States, Franks offered the following comments on his YEA vote: "This Budget clearly defines our National Priorities by boosting defense spending above the President's request, repealing Obamacare in full, strengthening Medicare, and balancing the budget in less than 10 years without raising. Our Seniors will be protected from Obamacare's raid on Medicare. Our National Defense will be bolstered through greater funding of troop training and our grandchildren's futures will be brighter as we get on a path to paying off the debt. I was happy to support such a plan."

·       Stand with the GOP: demand Hillary hand over her secret email server. The GOP is demanding Hillary Clinton hand over her secret email server for independent review by April 3—or face "the full powers of the House."

·       Congresswoman Martha McSally will speak with participants of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides 5K Walk at 9 am., Sun., March 29 at the University of Arizona and take part in the walk. ·       Two Arizona Educators Received Milken Educator Awards and $25,000 cash prizes during special assemblies at their schools today. Shalini Sharma, a fifth-grade teacher at Friendly House Academia del Pueblo in Phoenix, and Ana Gutierrez, a master teacher in TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement at Osborn School District’s Longview Elementary School in Phoenix, received the awards in recognition of their exemplary achievements as teachers who can be looked at as models for the profession. “It is such an honor to be able to acknowledge the work of incredible educators like Shalini Sharma shalini-sharma  and Ana Gutierrez ana-gutierrez. in such a meaningful way,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Douglas. “Stories like theirs inspire me every day and I am so pleased they have received this much-deserved recognition. The impact they have had on so many students, parents and teachers in their schools and communities is immense and they will no doubt continue to change lives for years to come.”

·       Congressman Paul A. Gosar introduced the Dental Insurance Fairness Act of 2015 supported by 21 bipartisan cosponsors today: “Too many American’s are still unable to get vital dental care ensuring good oral and overall health. As a practicing dentist for more than 25 years, and one of three dentists in Congress, I know firsthand that dental benefit plans are not serving the best interests of consumers. A rise in unfair practices which limit coordination of insurance benefits has resulted in dental beneficiaries not receiving the full coverage to which they are entitled. My legislation, introduced today, will provide uniform coordination of benefits as well as permit consumers to designate payment of dental benefits to a provider who is not participating in their network. This commonsense bill will ensure hard-working American families are receiving the full value of their dental coverage and payments. This will result in creating a more equitable system for dental patients and one that makes dental care more affordable and accessible for consumers.  The biggest problem we face with healthcare today is the growth of policies and practices that impede patient access to care they need. This patient-centered legislation will improve access to quality dental care and empower consumers to make their own choices regarding oral health based on what is best for themselves and their families. My bill supports reforms that rightfully return the focus of healthcare to the patient, not their insurance company.” Dental Insurance Fairness HERE.
