Reminder – April 1 is April Fools Day

·       Jose Borrajero’s  AZRRT Call To Action And Weekly Activity Report 150327-2050  Weekly update on what’s happening at the Arizona legislature.  Fresh post every Saturday.

·       LD12 Vice Chair Patrick O'Malley’s Update On Bills ( Borrowed from Bartlett’s Bunker)

ü  Today’s good news is HB2246 - statewide assessments; parental opt out, passed COW and goes to 3rd Read tomorrow.

ü  The Governor signed SB1318 - abortion; health care exchange; licensure.

ü  The bad news is HB2190 - schools; common core; replacement, failed in COW on a roll call vote. The vote followed part lines, except Republicans Dial, Driggs, Pierce, and Worsley voted against the bill.

ü  HB2320 - firearms; permit holders; public places, also failed in COW on a roll call vote that followed party lines, except Driggs, Pierce, and Worsley voted against the bill.

ü  SB1339 - public records; unduly burdensome requests, got a strike everything amendment recently and deals with ballot harvesting instead of FOIA requests. But it got retained in COW, so we don’t know what happens next.

ü  And keep an eye on SB1172 and SB1173. The educrats are really fired up about these bills and their claims are ridiculous.

·       A Reader Tip For Republicans of Maricopa County Chairman Tyler Bowyer to make to his LD Chairs when they meet Wednesday night in Phoenix.  He might suggest that LD chairs get a tentative agenda out to their PCs at least a week before the meeting date to make sure they have their calendars mark for the LD meeting.  Briefs received several reports that LD13 resorted to calling PCs from the meeting site to get enough PCs in attendance to make a quorum to  hold a December meeting.  And if you are changing meeting locations, let your PCs know sooner than the day  before the day before the meeting so they have time to adjust their work/travel schedules.

Arizona has a booming craft beer industry and it's growing every day. I want to ensure that it continues to thrive, unimpeded by overly burdensome regulations. It's good for industry, enterprise and the economy - and it's good for Arizona."
