·       Tom Jenney: Arizona State Director Americans for Prosperity regarding Gov Doug Ducey’s State Budget:  Here's why the Big Spenders hate this budget:

ü  The school district bureaucrats who steal money from the students and teachers in our classrooms loathe the fact that the budget plan reduces spending on administrative bureaucracy - even though the plan increases K-12 classroom spending by $135 million and provides for a total increase to K-12 spending of $11 million.

ü  The corporate crony capitalists are going to miss the $100 million slush fund that would be taken away from the Arizona Commerce Authority.

ü  The educrats who waste taxpayer money and student tuition dollars at our community colleges and universities are screaming about the $103 million in reductions to higher education budgets - even though the cuts reduce total university revenue by only two percent.

The Big Spenders and their lobbyists are going to fight hard to try to stop these cuts.  We need Arizona's taxpayers, producers and consumers to take action Today And Support The Responsible Budget Plan.

·       Differing Political Viewpoints of the State Budget -- Both commentaries sent out within minutes of each other:

AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham: “The party's hard work and dedication that led to our 2014 wins are bearing fruit as Arizona's elected Republican leaders steer our state on the proper course of right-sized government, opportunity, and prosperity for all. Voters who supported our Republican candidates can not only be comforted, but should also take a bow for electing a unified set of talented leaders looking out for the interests of our state's hardworking taxpayers. Governor Ducey, Senate President Andy Biggs and House Speaker David Gowan have just announced a budget agreement that not only protects taxpayers but increases resources for the students in our K-12 classrooms.
But You Need To Make The Call Now! Please call your legislators in the
Senate and House
to thank them for supporting the Republican plan! Budget highlights:

ü  The budget is balanced, and there are no tax increases

ü  State government will be living within its means

ü  The structural debt will be paid off by next year

ü  $135 million in new spending for K-12 classrooms, not bureaucracies

This budget avoids special interest influence and pet spending projects and represents Arizona's most conservative budget in a decade. Let's hold the line! Our elected GOP leaders have done the heavy lifting and now they need to hear from you! Please call your representatives in the Arizona Senate and House to let them know you support this balanced budget with no tax increases!”

Through the Dems Eyes: Governor Ducey and his GOP legislature have agreed on a budget deal for Arizona - and it’s ugly, painful and devastating to Arizona’s future. This is not an exaggeration! Let us be even more blunt: This GOP budget deal sucks! While promising growth and opportunity to win an election, Governor Ducey and his legislative counterparts have instead taken a hatchet to the very institutions that allow Arizonans to achieve economic freedom and individual prosperity!  This budget deal is nothing more than Republican hypocrisy shining in its finest hour. Here is what we know about their tentative budget deal – which includes:

ü  INCREASING cuts to our universities (ASU, UofA and NAU) from $75 million to $107 million

ü  Eliminating ALL state funding for Maricopa, Pima and Pinal community colleges

ü  Yet, PROMISING additional funding for corporate-owned private prisons in FY2017

One Republican legislator said that their leadership presented the cuts to the universities as “fluid – and I don’t mean going downward.” Yep, you read that right. The hits? They will keep on coming – unless you act NOW!

ü  SIGN THIS PETITION: Governor Ducey and Republican legislators CANNOT continue to balance their budget deficits on the backs of Arizona families!

ü  SIGN THIS PETITION NOW: Balancing GOP budget deficits on the back of public education IS NOT an option!

Arizonans know that access to a quality education is the key to economic prosperity. Call your legislator at 1-800-352-8404 to tell them to vote NO on the plan to cripple Arizona’s economic recovery. Thank you. - ADP Rapid Response Team

Upcoming wildflower programs include:

·       CD1 Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick (D) has re-introduced bipartisan legislation to expand the boundaries of the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in Coolidge. Her bill’s cosponsors are Arizona Reps. Paul Gosar (R), Raul Grijalva (D) and Ruben Gallego (D). The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument protects one of the finest architectural examples of 13th century Hohokam culture in the American Southwest – it was known to early Spanish explorers as the “Great House.” In 1892, it was proclaimed as our nation’s first archeological preserve and called the Casa Grande Ruin Reservation. In 1918, it was designated as the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. Kirkpatrick’s legislation, HR 1077, would expand the boundaries around the Great House and its Hohokam village – adding potentially 10 acres or more to the National Monument. The expansion would protect the archaeology and enhance the visitor experience, strengthening the monument’s position as a destination and a national treasure. The ruins currently attract about 70,000 visitors to Coolidge every year.  Kirkpatrick, Gosar and Grijalva, along with now-retired Rep. Ed Pastor, made a similar push in the 113th Congress with the support of Coolidge Mayor Tom Shope and Casa Grande Mayor Bob Jackson.  Kirkpatrick said, “Elected officials, community leaders and residents across Pinal County agree that these ruins must be protected for their historic significance as well as their economic impact. This bill should help the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument remain a thriving destination for visitors to our great state.”

·       Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio #6: Last night, I voted against a tax and spend Boondoggle that could cost you $33 billion. I need your help to stop this nonsense at the August election. This is your opportunity to tell the politicians to get their priorities straight. They will have significant insider money to spend to get this passed and I need your helping making others aware. Please make sure to pass all these messages to everyone you know. If you support education funding for your children then you need to vote against this ill-conceived proposal.

The final numbers are in and here is what we found out:

ü  $161 million- cost per mile to build and operate light rail.

ü  81%-amount taxpayers must subsidize every rider. The fare box only recovers 19 percent of overall cost.

Your neighborhood street-the train system only carries the amount of people that drive by your street every day. Yes, your local neighborhood street out your front door carries about 2,000 cars per day. The train carries the same per mile.

As a comparison here is what we could do with:

ü  $1 Billion-Pay for the salary of 22,222 new teachers

ü  $33 Billion- buys 1,241,161 cars

ü  Guarantee 100 years of new water supply-For approximately $1.4 billion, the State of Arizona could fund a water delivery system providing us a 100 year supply of water.

Phoenix has not shown fiscal responsibility with its own budget. If it can't handle its current budget, why would taxpayers give $33 billion more to a structurally unsound organization?  This enormous tax and spend proposal is not fiscally responsible or accountable.
