·       UPDATE: There Is No April 14 LD13 Meeting. About 1 am, April 14, acting LD13 Chairman Wallie Campbell, notified LD13 precinct committeemen  that she would keep them informed over the next couple of weeks on procedures, elections and the meeting schedule for replacing recently resigned chairman Richard ‘Dick’ Landis. Landis resigned April 2 due to health problems.

·       Briefs  Guest Commentary Limitation Is 300 Words; however, reader concern over the lack of action on the ‘Close Primary” resolutions passed at both the AZGOP and Maricopa County Republican January 2015 Statutory meetings and the closing of the April 18 AZGOP Executive Committee meeting to state committeemen and PC observers by AZGOP Robert Graham have become such a hot button issue that Briefs made a one-time exception yesterday and allowed former Maricopa County Republican Chairman and resolutions author A J LaFaro’s message to the State Executive Committeemen to run beyond the 300 word limitation.  Although it exceeded the 300 word limitation, LaFaro’s original message was edited/condensed due to space.  See condensed version 4-12-15-briefs   See the full statement at 4/18 AZGOP Meeting - Close The Primary.

·       The Close Primary Resolutions approved by grassroots elected legislative district leaders at the January 2015 GOP/MCRC Statutory meetings, conflict with Sen John McCain’s preference an open primary.  John-McCain-Courts-Non-Republican-Voters-In-GOP-Primary: Seeks-To-Keep-AZ-Primaries-Semi-Open  “…Persisting in a war with those who don’t pledge allegiance to the five-term U.S. Senator John McCain and his loyalists, are stomping on efforts to return the Arizona primary election to a pure party primary election.”

·       Tom Morrissey, Immediate Past Chairman of the AZGOP has reiterated that he never closed an Executive Committee meeting.  “Please know that Tim Sifert served as an excellent Communications Director and I was glad to have him on board but I disagree with his memory of how I conducted Executive Committee meetings.   What I am in favor of is closed primaries, not closed meetings.  Instead of closing executive committee meetings we should, CLOSE THE DANG PRIMARIES”.

·       LD22 PC Bob Richard Is Asking For Prayers for his wife Shirley, who is in the critical care unit with pneumonia at John C Lincoln Hospital – Deer Valley. No visitors today or tomorrow.  No phone calls, she must have complete rest without distractions. Bob will keep us posted.

·       The SaddleBrooke Republican Club presents Congresswoman Martha McSally at it’s Mon., April 20  ‘Welcome Back’ Luncheon in her honor at 11:45 am., in the Vistas Restaurant at Saddlebrooke Country Club, 64500 E. SaddleBrooke Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85739. Doors open at 11:15 am.  As a frequent visitor to Saddlebrooke in 2012-14, at Meet n’ Greets in our homes, she displayed intellect, experience as a combat pilot, humility, humor, and boundless energy. Following two of the closest elections in Arizona history, she won her seat in Congress. She will share her initial impressions of a new congresswoman, and the difficult decisions she has already faced. RSVP:    Contact:  Neil MacDonald VP Communications   825 4361.

·       The Estrella Conservative Republican Club will meet at 7 pm., April 22 at Estrella Foothills High School. Maricopa County Republicans Chairman Tyler Bowyer will address the groups. Contact: Chr Richard Newcomer  602-512-1340.

·       Last Week Was Very Successful For The Arizona Republican Assembly (AzRA) , beginning Tuesday with the Inaugural Meeting of the Northeast Maricopa County local chapter covering Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills and Rio Verde.  Scottsdale City Council member Guy Phillips was among the new members who joined at the meeting. Led by Ardith Hildebrant - with more than 20 in attendance, - AzRA State President Thayer Verschoor explained why AzRA is well positioned to impact the Arizona political scene.  He stressed that AzRA is neither a greet/meet eat/retreat social club, nor a policy group, but a political organization tasked with changing the makeup of elected officials at all levels to Constitutional Conservatives.  Since you cannot change the philosophy of those now in office, the only way to achieve that goal is to replace the RINOs with Constitutional conservatives, he emphasized.

The Northeast Chapter is the sixth organized AzRA chapter with more local chapters in the pipeline:

ü  Conservative leaders in Rimrock on April 11 and decided to organize a Yavapai County Chapter next month.

ü  An April 9 meeting in Apache Junction resulted in the formation of the second Pinal County Chapter in May.

ü  AzRA Leaders are setting a date for the Tempe/Chandler/Ahwatukee Chapter with two dozen members. It’s projected to be one of their strongest local chapters.

·       LD17 Second Vice Chairman Darrell Covert has resigned a few days ago.  Per LD17 Republican Committee by-laws, the Executive Board has appointed Jennifer Leon Hill to the vacancy, according to Chairman Shadow Asgari.

·       LD30 State Committeeman Aaron Gidwani: One year ago the scandal broke about the Phoenix VA Hospital and the unfortunate abuse that took place for years against those who gave all - our veterans.  Tonight Concerned Veterans for America hosted CEO Pete Hegseth and Gov Doug Ducey - who led the discussion on public policy for military personnel.  One sad fact that is substantiated by Sen Kelli Ward is that our veterans get worse treatment at the VA then those locked up in Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Tent City.  We need to do more than thank a vet - we are indebted to those who served us. My grandmother is a veteran whom I thank daily but I have ensured that she receives the best care she earned and is entitled to.  Let us serve them; it is time to rise up and remember their selfless contribution to keep us free.  Our elected officials need to hear your voice -  veterans matter.  As a Republican we need to lead on this particular issue and bring our veterans the best care possible.  I am reminded daily that our actions individually affect our state and nation.  May God Bless all of our military and their families.

·       Political Activist Wes Gullett is heading up a campaign to raise funds through June 12 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in honor of his mother, Barb,  who passed away five years ago from Lymphoma (blood cancer).  LLS provides support to families fighting cancer as well as critical resources for research to find better treatments and eventually a cure for this horrible disease.   This year the Man and Woman of the Year Campaign is celebrating two special children, Dylan and Karley.  They both have been battling Lymphocytic Leukemia.  While their stories are very different, they both represent why contributing to LLS is so important.  Donate/Contact Gullett at

·       LD5 Sen Kelli Ward: I am exploring a run for the US Senate in 2016 and have started the Ward Exploratory Committee. I am receiving huge support from the grassroots because of the outcry for a new, positive, principled voice in Washington, I am testing  the waters to determine if the financial and political paths to victory really exist.
If that the support exists for a US Senate run, I would run to

ü  give Arizona a powerful voice against Obamacare.

ü  stand up for enforcement of immigration laws and to secure the border.

ü  support the Constitution, smaller government and individual liberty.

ü  a positive, passionate, principled non-career politician.

ü  join a fresh, new generation of leaders and end the stronghold that DC career politicians have had for decades.

ü  be the voice that Arizonans long for in the US Senate.

ü  be your voice.

I appreciate your prayers, comments, and advice. I will continue to meet and listen to voters and make new friendships all over our great state. If you would like me visit your group, please let me know.
As I explore this challenging opportunity, I will need funding. Frankly, I need your financial support to help me reach a decision. Informed, motivated voters lead the way to restore government of, for, and by the people. If we want Arizona represented in DC and not DC represented in Arizona, it is up to all of us. Success will take time, motivation, hard work, and money. Financial support is imperative in a David and Goliath battle
I am counting on you for a contribution of $100 today. It is a lot to ask, but I need your help now. If I cannot raise money, I can’t run! If $100 is not possible, please consider a contribution of $75, $50, $25, or $10. click here to contribute

·       AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham on Hillary Clinton’s announcement  yesterday that she is seeking the Democrats’ nomination for President of the United States. “Hillary Clinton is not honest or trustworthy, and we’d hope the Democrats would find someone more prepared to engage in an honest conversation about our nation,” said Graham. “She can’t be honest about herself, she can’t be honest with our country. It’s not just her lapses in judgement, and there are many, but her outright deception in matters of great importance have disqualified her from leadership.” Graham noted that the Arizona Republican Party is already fully engaged in the 2016 election, not just in the race to replace President Obama with a Republican, but to bring GOP victories throughout the state.

·       Phx City Councilman #6 Sal DiCiccio: April 15, the same day our taxes are due, Phoenix politicians are poised to push another $31.7 Billion tax/spend increase on hard working taxpayers. With the average cost just over $161 million per mile, the rail line will be the most expensive ever built in Phoenix. The proposed tax increase will raise our tax rate to 8.7% making it one of the highest in the nation. The timing of the vote becomes another boondoggle of this quickly rushed proposal. The numbers keep changing, politicians keep making last minute changes, and the proposal is unplanned. But political insiders are poised to make lots of money from this proposal. It makes you wonder what else Mayor Stanton and the others who support this train tax are planning without public transparency. Let's hope Phoenix politicians get some sanity and stop rushing issues like this until they can be thoroughly vetted. There is no reason to hustle this big tax increase through without a more thoughtful approach. I will let you know how the vote turns out from after Wednesday's council meeting.
