·       Conservatives-Revolt-Against-McCain-Reelection-Bid   Within hours of McCain’s announcement both Conservative Review and the Senate Conservatives Fund had emailed to rally supporters against McCain. The messages pointed out McCain’s record and weakened position. Senate Conservatives Fund called for a strong show of support to oust a weakened McCain and elect a fresh face to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate. Conservative Review grants McCain an “F” with a 48 percent rating, calling out McCain for an extensive 32-year entrenchment in Washington.

·       McCain Has The Worst Poll Rates In The Country   PPP's newest Arizona poll finds that John McCain is unpopular with Republicans, Democrats, and independents alike and has now become the least popular Senator in the country. Only 30% of Arizonans approve of the job McCain is doing to 54% who disapprove. There isn't much variability in his numbers by party- he's at 35/55 with Republicans, 29/53 with Democrats, and 25/55 with independents.

·       The Republican Party Is Ripping Itself Apart As Conservatives Declare War On John McCain   Sarah Palin’s Tea Party is out to get her former top of the ticket running mate Senator John McCain.

·       McCain-Ready-New-Fight; Will-Run-Re-Election   -- NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell: “John McCain is ready for a new fight. ‘I have decided to run for re-election,’ the Arizona senator told NBC News in an exclusive interview revealing his plans to pursue a sixth term on Capitol Hill. ‘I’m ready. I am more than ready. In some ways, I am eager.’ McCain is currently 78 years old but will be 80 by Election Day in 2016.’

·       Senator-John-McCain-Face-National-Tea-Party-Battle   ‘The senator is preparing to launch a 2016 re-election campaign. National conservative groups such as the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Senate Conservatives Fund may back a GOP rival.’

·       Support-For-Democrats  Map shows where Dem support is throughout the US.

·       LD24 Corresponding Secretary Carole Joyce reports that the first of a new series of workshops on PC training/recruitment and education held this evening was highly successful.  “It was well attended and successful. The facilitator was Ray Sweeney and he held a captive audience. The presentation was not what I expected. It was "Better Than Better"... Ray uses down to earth, simple ways and methods to invite the "right" individuals to join our team of PC's and serve their precincts.” She continued, “ Great presentation and worth attending. Folks came from Pinal County to attend this seminar. There was excellent interaction from the audience. The take-away message ... We Can Win... I am sure the information presented tonight will be invaluable in the 2016 election. It was refreshing new information offered by Ray Sweeney.  He had positive results recruiting 99 new PC's in one month.”   Sweeney will make making more presentations in the autumn, including a Saturday morning session.

·       Supt of Public Instruction Diane Douglas today discussed the improvements in participation and performance of Arizona students over the last decade in the Advanced Placement Program offered by the not-for-profit College Board. “I am pleased to see that the results from Arizona’s class of 2014 show progress and continual improvement throughout the last ten years,” said Douglas. “I am delighted to celebrate our students’ demonstrated success in this program.” From 2004 to 2014, the number of high school graduates who took an AP exam in Arizona grew from about 6,300 in 2004 to about 15,700 in 2014. The percentage of Arizona students who took an AP exam during high school grew from 14% in 2004 to slightly more than 26% in 2014.

In Arizona, 15.1% of the class of 2014 scored a three or higher on the Advanced Placement (AP) exam during high school. About 8.8% of Arizona students scored a three or higher in 2004.  The Arizona percentage has consistently increased since over that span. The national percentage of all high school graduates scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam also has grown steadily, from 12.7% in the class of 2004 to 21.6% in the class of 2014. Douglas sees an opportunity for her African American, Latino and Native American Education Advisory councils to focus on helping increase access for students who did not participate in the AP Program, but were identified as having potential.

·       The Republican National Committee (RNC) regarding DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s comments on the government’s role in protecting life: “Today, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz made clear her extreme position on the issue of life,” said RNC Press Secretary Allison Moore. “It’s disturbing to know that the Chairwoman of the DNC supports zero protections for the life of an unborn child, not even in the final days before birth. We should be willing to protect the innocent. Do her fellow Democrats share their party chair's position, which is out-of-step with the majority of American women?"
