·       Former Yavapai County GOP Chairman Jim Dutton points out that Sen Jeff Flake echoes former Gov Jan Brewer’s"I believe that elections have consequences . . ." Medicaid Expansion phrases  in responding to Dutton’s recent e-mail.

Flake to Dutton on April 21: Thank you for contacting me about President Obama's nominee for United States Attorney General. I appreciate receiving your comments on this matter.  As you may know, on November 7, 2014, President Obama nominated Loretta Lynch to replace Attorney General Eric Holder. On February 26, 2015, the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary voted to approve Ms. Lynch's nomination by a vote of 12 to 8. I voted in favor of her nomination.   I believe that elections have consequences and that elected presidents should be afforded a certain degree of deference in the presidential appointment process, particularly when the nominee is uniquely qualified. While I disagree with Ms. Lynch on a number of issues, including her views on the President's executive action on immigration, she is nonetheless well-qualified for the position.   Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so again in the future. I also encourage you to visit my website, which may be found at

·       Long-Time Republican Jim Humphrey received a response this week from his early February message to Congressman Jeff Flake asking for an explanation as to why Flake would vote to confirm Loretta Lynch for US Attorney General. Editor’s Note:  These messages have been edited due to space. The Senate approved Lynch today. Flake voted in favor of her.

ü  Flake to Humphrey on April 21: Thank you for contacting me about President Obama's nominee for US Attorney General.  On Nov 7, 2014, President Obama nominated Loretta Lynch to replace Attorney General Eric Holder. On Feb 26, 2015, the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary voted to approve Ms. Lynch on a number of issues, including her views on the President's executive action on immigration, she is nonetheless well-qualified for the position.

ü  Jim Humphrey, a retired law enforcement officer,  Response To Flake:  Regarding your convoluted and faulty reasoning. My issue is with the unconstitutional method that our President has chosen to handle some individuals, (not all) presently in the US illegally.

I “disagree with Ms. Lynch views on the President’s executive action on immigration.” Your statement that “elections have consequences” is certainly true. We are faced with the President’s despicable record and now face the consequences of electing you, because you believe “elected presidents should be afforded a certain degree of deference in the presidential appointment process” even though the President is circumventing our constitutional form of government. The three branches government are supposed to be independent; each with specific duties, given to act as a check and/or balance to the others. If this is true, then your statement that the President should be afforded a certain degree of deference in the appointment process is an abdication of your duty as a check and balance to the executive branch.

Ms. Lynch will be well qualified to carry out President Obama’s agenda; to litigate the challenge the President’s blatant un-constitutional action of general amnesty as well as whatever other unconstitutional actions the President takes.

You were one of the “bi-partisan group of Senators” who, in January 2013, outlined a “far-reaching proposal to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws,” which would have accomplished about the same thing President Obama’s executive action is doing today. Maybe you approve of what the President is doing because that’s what you tried unsuccessfully to do in 2013, --  but are going on record as opposing his executive action in order to make the citizens of Arizona believe you are for what is right?

·       Arizona Ready Reports: Statewide, the number of degrees and certificates awarded by Arizona’s community colleges showed a 15% increase from 2011 to 2013. It is important to note that this trend is unlikely to continue. Over the next four years, numbers are expected to remain the same based on lower-enrollment projections due to the improving economy. However, the gains expected from 2017 onward show that Arizona is on-track to reach its goal of 44,000 associate degrees and/or certificates awarded per year by 2020.  See update/graphs Community College update:
