The people deserve leaders who will be direct with where they stand on issues and what they plan to do. After that, the leaders must be accountable to their promises. I will be direct, I will be honest and I will be accountable to the people for my promises.”  See

·       Boe James, past president of the Fountain Hills Republican Club: Memorial Day was established to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Many people confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day. Memorial Day is officially proclaimed to honor those who have died while serving in the Armed Forces in time of war, while Veterans Day is set aside to honor those who have served or are now serving in the Armed Forces. On both days, we should be thankful for those who serve to protect our American freedoms.
Since not everyone can participate in Memorial Day services, Congress established the "National Moment of Remembrance" and asks that all Americans pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day. 3 p.m. was chosen because it is a time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. This Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events, rather, it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, whether alone or with family or friends, honor those who died in service to the United States.
Memorial Day services are held throughout the Valley, including at the National Memorial Cemetery off Cave Creek Road. In Scottsdale the ceremony is held at the Chaplains Statue.
Fountain Hills' tradition is to honor our nation’s war dead with a Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony at the Town's Veterans Memorial in Fountain Park at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day - Monday, May 25.   The leadership for the ceremony rotates between the Town's 3 Veterans Service Organizations, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7507, American Legion Post 57 and AmVets Post 7. This year it is lead by American Legion Post 58. VFW Post 7507's Color Guard will post the Colors. Taps will be played by Debbie Fisher. The Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet will provide additional music.

·       Phoenix City Councilman Sal Diciccio: Mayor Stanton puts Phoenix deeper in debt with budget, new train tax and Sheraton.  Stanton’s proposed budget will take Phoenix down the same road as other cities like Detroit. His new plan is to add more debt to pay for the out-of-balance pension expense

Simply put, it would be like using your credit card to pay your mortgage. This scheme will cost you $69 Million more in new interest according to staff.

My job is to protect you and represent you. The path set by Mayor Stanton puts our city, your families and our future at risk.  Creating more debt is not healthy to preserving our quality of life.

ü  Train Tax: This is on the heels of his push to exempt big business from his new train tax. That exemption not only puts the full responsibility on you and small business, but will add over $300 Million in New Debt. The light rail, which will cost $161 Million per mile, should not be shouldered by you and small business owners.  Please make sure to vote NO on 104 - the Train Tax this August.

ü  Sheraton: We saw the impact of the mayor's rushed decision to get into the hotel business. To date, the Sheraton has cost you over $130 Million. Phoenix went into debt and borrowed $330 Million to build the hotel. The current value according to staff is now below $200 Million. I will continue to demand transparency and accountability for You the taxpayer.  You are my boss.

·       Congressman Paul Gosar: On Monday, Gosar Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, Rob Bishop (UT-01), Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Jason Chaffetz (UT-03), Subcommittee Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee and Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Interior Subcommittee, Cynthia Lummis (WY-at large), and Natural Resources Federal Lands Subcommittee Chairman, Tom McClintock (CA-04), released a joint letter to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) asking the agency to suspend the considered merger of the New Mexico and Arizona state BLM offices.
