·       The Dedication Ceremony For The Barry Goldwater Post Office in Prescott is scheduled at 9 am, Fri., May 29 at 442 Miller Valley Road. Congressman Paul Gosar, who introduced legislation to name the post office after Goldwater, will be in attendance, along with Barry Goldwater, Jr. The event is open to the public. Over 100 Arizona residents signed a petition to rename the Miller Valley Road post office and the location was suggested by the local postmaster. The Congressman's legislation, H.R. 3027, was signed into law by President Obama on December 18, 2014 and had the support of the entire Arizona delegation.  Contact: Penny Pew at (480) 882-2697 or at

·       The Young Bucks Making Recommendation To The Gov’s Office would do well to talk to some of the retirees who spent a life time preserving and protecting wildlife in Arizona. They might get their eyes opened on why they have jumped the gun with plans to get rid of the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s planes in the Guv’s state-owned aircraft pooling plan.  Those Game and Fish alumni remember when the twin engine came from a drug seizure; the other  plane was reportedly a gift from the Safari Club International – designed for wildlife management and protection in the gift agreement. A retired AZGFD law enforcement and former high ranking official says that if Gov Doug Ducey’s sells at one of the aircraft – the Guv will owe the Feds reimbursement… and we all know whose pocket that will come out of – YOU, the taxpayers, of course!  Besides that, one retiree commented, “AGFD pilots have a full schedule and possess skills most general aviation pilots have never experienced; therefore a pilot pool would be of little use to AGFD.” How many pilots are experienced in flying animal counts/surveys? The Guv needs to leave the self-sustaining agency’s planes/pilots alone.

·       Senate Conservatives Laid It On The Line With This Morning:  Are you disappointed in Republican leaders in Washington? Do you believe they are failing to do what they said they would do? A new nationwide Pew Research survey shows that only 23% of Americans believe congressional Republicans are keeping the promises they made last year. See  Conservative Review here. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) believe that the party has to show voters they can "govern" by surrendering to the Democrats. Not only have Republican leaders in Congress failed to stop the president's policies, they have alienated their most loyal supporters.
The survey found that only 37% of Republicans believe their party's leaders are keeping their  promises, and a whopping 75% of Republicans believe their party's leaders should be doing more to challenge the president. The Senate Conservatives do not support Sen John McCain’s re-Election.
There are three things every conservative must do.

ü  (1)Admit that Republicans in Washington are part of the problem.
ü  (2) Stop donating to the House and Senate party committees. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) are controlled by Mitch McConnell and John Boehner respectively, and are used to elect more spineless Republicans. The NRSC even resorted to recruiting Democrats to hijack a Republican primary election in Mississippi last year. It's time to stop enabling these party leaders with our political donations.
ü  (3) Support conservative candidates in Republican primary elections. -
Ken Cuccinelli II, President

·       AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham commented this morning on the news that Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona’s Congressional District 1 has announced a campaign for the United States Senate.  “It’s good to see another Democrat who supported Obamacare give up her seat, and it’s part of a pattern where she’s walked out of her own town hall meetings and failed to show up at televised debates.” said Graham. “Kirkpatrick is clearly just as unpopular in Arizona as Obama, and just as voters elected Republican Martha McSally over Ron Barber, we’re going to help them replace Kirkpatrick with a Republican as well.”

·       Supt Of Public Instruction Diane Douglas will visit TucsonThursday as part of her “We Are Listening” tour. She will be at the Pima Community College West Campus Center for the Arts (Proscenium Theatre between 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

·       79 Members Of Congress Have Been In Office For At Least 20 Years   The American people absolutely hate the job that Congress is doing, and yet the same clowns just keep getting sent back to Washington again and again. .. John McCain has been in office since. Jan. 6, 1987.  That’s nearly 30 years of campaign rhetoric on the home front while he goes back to DC and votes with the Dems.

·       ATTN PCs: A Vacancy Is Open For A Member-At-Large on the Republicans of Maricopa County Committee due to the recent passing of Mike Richardson.  The vacancy is to be filled at the Thurs., June 3 Executive Guidance Committee (EGC) meeting at AZGOP Headquarters, 3501 N. 24th St., Phx. Members-at-Large may be elected regardless of their location within the county.  Is you wish to put your name on the ballot for the position, contact Maricopa County Republican Party Chairman Tyler Bowyer at  or 480-239-0025.  Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.

·       ASU-Forking-Over-$500,000-To-The-Clintons-Was-Foolish  : If this Arizona Republic editorial header didn’t catch your eye, it should have:.  Educators are always screaming for more money what are they doing with it?  $500,000 to a “blue” candidate in a “red” state? What kind of brilliance is that?  Why would they give that kind of money to any candidate?  Just before this story broke, ASU was making noise about having to raise student tuition because of legislative budgetary cuts.  Some common sense needs to prevail at the university level as well!  For all the crap the legislators have taken for cutting university funds, maybe they were on target.

·       Congressman David Schweikert, former Congressman Jon Kyl, and Jerry and Marilyn Hayden are hosting a reception in support of Utah Sen Mike Lee at 6pm., Thurs., May 28 at 10306 E Calle DeLas Brisas, Scottsdale.  Requested contribution: $1,000 per person – attendee level, $2,700 per person – bronze level, $7,400 per person – silver level, and $8,100 per person – gold level. RSVP to Nicole Venezia at

·       The Senate Armed Services Committee today released the report accompanying S.1376, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016. The committee report is available here. The full text of the bill, which passed the committee 22-4, is available here. A complete summary of the bill is available here.

·       AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham today commented on Arizona Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick’s entry into the race for U. S. Senate. Her status as the lone Democrat in the race serves as a reminder of Democrat Richard Carmona’s unsuccessful attempt in 2012 to win a U. S. Senate seat as President Obama’s hand-picked candidate. “Many speculated that Democrat Kyrsten Sinema’s stark ambition would drive her into this senate race, but it’s no surprise that Ann Kirkpatrick’s well-deserved reputation as a staunch progressive and Obama supporter makes her the favorite among the left in Arizona,” said Graham. “The Republican Party has been successful in Arizona because we have organized around Arizona values of opportunity for all, respect for the law, and fighting for personal liberties like healthcare freedom. The progressive left have recruited Kirkpatrick because of her opposition to our values.  She voted with Nancy Pelosi 85 percent of the time: supporting Cap and Trade, the President’s healthcare bill, and has a disregard for our Constitution. We are confident Arizona’s voters won't be fooled by her simply putting on some cowboy boots for her campaign commercials.”   Editor's Note:  The GOP would do well to remember that Kirkpatrick beat the socks off the GOP candidate Andy Tobin.  Then stop and take a good look at how many times Sen. John McCain and Jeff Flake have voted with the Dems. Wasn't that part of the reason McCain was censured by the AZGOP and Maricopa County Republicans a couple of years ago???

·       Phoenix Resident Anna Brennan turn in her mayoral candidate signatures this afternoon. “My interest in serving as Mayor of Phoenix is based on my desire to serve the citizens of Phoenix, to lead the outstanding men and women who serve their fellow citizens in this great city and to partner with Phoenix officials and agencies in delivering the services the citizens of Phoenix have every right to expect and deserve from their City government.” Brennan has owned several businesses and currently works as a registered nurse in her own business. “Through my business experiences I have consistently demonstrated a natural ability to lead and work collaboratively with others. As a humble servant to the public my tenacity for getting the job done is unsurpassed.” Contact: Cecilia Marie at 602-291-0249

·       Phx City Councilman Sal DiCiccio: Yesterday, I filed my official arguments in opposition to Mayor Stanton’s train tax increase. This special interest boondoggle will cost you $31.5 BILLION - money that should be used to hire more teachers, police and firefighters. 2,900 NEW teachers could be hired for the cost of just one mile of rail. Just the numbers:
ü  $31.5 BILLION in taxes
ü  $300 Million - Additional interest charges by exempting Big Business from this tax increase and forcing small business to pay the entire cost
ü  $161 MILLION - Average cost per mile for rail .
$130 Million Loss to date - Value of the loss taxpayers must cover for the Sheraton. This was the last time the politicians wanted to spend your hard earned money on something that was rushed. Fiscal accountability and responsibility is what is needed now.  The loss of the Sheraton and the looming pension crisis are what happens when big spending projects are rushed to a decision.  Add this train boondoggle to the Sheraton and pension crisis and you have a big problem facing our city and your family.  It’s now up to you to stop this in August at the ballot box. When you get your city voter guide, read my arguments and share it with others. This election, please send a message to the politicians and the insiders to get your fiscal house in order first before rushing another project that could bankrupt our great city.

·       The IRS Believes That A Breach that enabled cybercriminals to steal the tax returns of more than 100,000 people originated in Russia, two sources briefed on the data theft tell CNN. On Tuesday, the Internal Revenue Service announced that organized crime syndicates used personal data obtained from elsewhere to access tax information, which they then used to file $50 million in fraudulent returns.

·       Nebraska Abolishes The Death Penalty. The largely conservative state legislature voted 30-19 to override the governor’s veto of a bill repealing the state’s death penalty law. (Mark Berman, The Washington Post)

·       Clinton-Pledges-To-Strengthen-Equal-Pay-For-Women-In-Southern-Debut The Republican National Committee said Clinton was a walking contradiction because she “paid women significantly less than men in her own Senate office. The reality is that Hillary Clinton will say anything to benefit herself politically,” said Allison Moore, an RNC spokeswoman.

·       EPA Announces Rules Protecting Drinking Water. President Obama said the regulations clarify which smaller waterways fall under federal protection. The administration has received pushback from some Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner, who called the rules a “power grab.” (Mary Clare Jalonick, Associated Press)

·       Weekly Standard: “Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Carly Fiorina will both be campaigning in Columbia, South Carolina, on Wednesday, and the Fiorina campaign is making sure reporters know its candidate will be answering questions. Fiorina will be available to speak to the press, says deputy campaign manager Sarah Isgur Flores, shortly before speaking with Republican state legislators at the state capitol. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO will also travel to Spartanburg later in the day for another event. ‘Our events tomorrow are all open to the press,’ said Flores in an email to reporters. ‘And by open press, we mean we'll actually take questions. That's right. We've answered hundreds of questions from reporters because we believe the American people will not and should not elect a president that can't answer for her record, won't explain her positions or for whom the truth is whatever she can get away with.’”

·       Jeb Deploys America’s Favorite Bush - Former first lady Barbara Bush turns 90 on June 8 and the family is throwing a highly publicized party for her family literacy foundation. Jeb Bush and his sister, Doro Bush Koch, are will be the chairman and chairwoman of the event.

·       Santorum Says It’s His Turn - Time: “Rick Santorum was closing out his speech to the GOP’s governing class at a posh desert resort near Phoenix. His time to address the Republican National Committee coming to a close, he took a moment to remind the party’s elders of their history. ‘We stick with tradition,’ the former Senator from Pennsylvania said in early May. With restless party chairmen and activists shifting in their seats, the failed 2012 candidate made a not-so-subtle pitch for the Santorum for President, 2016 Edition, which is set to start on Wednesday. ‘Since primaries and caucuses went into effect, every Republican nominee has met one of three tests,’ Santorum said. ‘One, they were Vice President. Two, they were the son of a former President. And three, they came in second place the last time and ran again and won.’”

·        Alan Korwin:  Speaking of advanced notice, I'm scheduled to be the cover story in The New Times tomorrow. Everything sounded peaches and cream while I cooperated in the lengthy feature with photos dating back to when I was four years old. Tomorrow a.m. I find out if it's a hatchet job. There's a write up about the coincidences and possible blow back from this piece (it is New Times, after all) in my recent Page Nine report, No. 146, emailed yesterday, posted here soon with back issues through May 2006. (I'll see if New Times puts the feature on line, u can 2.)
