·       Thursday Evening, June 25, The Gilbert Town Council will be voting on a possible tax rate increase on your property taxes and a wellness center proposal.  The taxappears as agenda item #35. The wellness center if item #35a. The tax is in addition to the override and bond from the Gilbert School Board that will be on the ballot in November.# 35. BUDGET - conduct hearing and consider adoption of an Ordinance setting the Secondary Property Tax Levy for FY2015-16 at $21,221,243 to partially meet the current debt service requirements of the Town; the remaining debt service to be paid from fund balance. The second item 35A. HUMAN SERVICES – consider approval of: a) the Gilbert Wellness & Resource Center Proposal; andb) an Amendment to the 2015-2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Five year Consolidated Plan to Renovate Page Park Center for the Center operations. ·       Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on the U.S. Navy’s announcement of the first group of enlisted female sailors selected for assignment to a submarine: “I offer my congratulations to each of the 38 enlisted female sailors who will train to be the first enlisted women to report for duty aboard a submarine. Brave American women have rendered selfless service in our nation’s armed services, many giving their lives in combat. These sailors are taking another important step forward to advance this proud tradition.”
