·       75-Year-Old-Woman-Claims-State-GOP-Thugs-Roughed-Her-Up-During-Meeting  "At 75 years old they probably think I'm a frail old lady, which I am," said Barbara Medal, who serves as the sergeant-at-arms for the Republican Party of Maricopa County. It's her job to keep order during meetings. Medal says the fight started at a meeting for county Republicans at the state party's headquarters in Phoenix. Tensions mounted, she said, after she told two men to stop taking photographs. She claims there was some pushing and shoving that ended when somebody slammed a door into her shoulder.  See 8-8-15-briefs

·       Republicans Receiving Fund Solicitation Letters from AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham the past few days are puzzled by the enclosed membership card. They report the card gives inaccurate data on “recent contribution history” and they are also discovering the same “member” identification number on multiple cards.  Graham has not responded to questions Briefs e-mail to him this morning regarding the cards.

·       The Latest Voter Registration Figures have been released and according to Secretary of State Michele Reagan, the number of registered voters has grown to 3,252,687 registered voters, an increase of 16,997 since the last report in April.  Of the state's 3.2 million voters, 34% are Republicans, 28% are Democrats and 36% have either registered with independent parties or not designated a party preference.

Libertarians and members of the Green party make up a little less than one percent of the state’s total registration while the Americans Elect Party has enrolled 473 voters since joining the state's other recognized political parties in 2011.  “I’m pleased to see the number of registered voters increase a little bit,” said Secretary Reagan.  “As the state gears up for an exciting presidential election next year, I’m confident our registration totals will continue to grow.

“It’s important to remember, Arizona’s “open primary” provisions do not apply to the presidential preference election.  In order to cast a ballot in the March 22nd election, “independents” must be registered with a political party by February 22, 2016.  Over the coming months, our new team of Voting Rights Ambassadors will be traveling the state connecting with schools, clubs and civic groups to educate voters on the process and encourage citizens to participate!”

The latest voter registration figures compiled by county, congressional district and legislative district are available on Arizona.Vote, this link or by calling 1-877-THE-VOTE.

·       LD30 Precinct Committee who submitted a petition on July 21 to MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer to recall LD30 Chairman Gary Hirsh  are concerned that Bowyer hasn’t taken action on their petition.  MCRC Executive Director April Riggins said she wasn’t aware of the petition. Bowyer told Briefs this morning that he would take it to the MCRC Board next week.

·       Maricopa County Republican Committee (MCRC) Second Vice Chairman Aaron Borders has sent  memo to the members the  Executive Guidance Committee (EGC) giving them a detailed version of his side of the upheaval that occurred recently when he was relieved of what he thought was an appointment as President Candidate Donald Trump’s campaign manager for Arizona. The story went national immediately upon Trump’s campaign manager denying any relationships with Borders when Freebuzz discovered several Facebook posting that were deemed not politically correct. Since then Border’s has returned to Arizona from Ohio, where he was when the dust up occurred.  This evening Broder’s explained he just wanted the EGC members to hear his side of what happened since he hadn’t had time to contact them directly.  He said he missed the Aug 5 EGC  meeting because he had not yet returned to Arizona. Although there has been talk of requesting his resignation, Border say this evening that he intends to continue in his position as the Second Vice Chair and his work for the party.

·       Arizona Department of Education Chief of Staff Michael Bradley said today that the Move on When Reading program portal open today. The online portal traditionally opens at the beginning of each school year. Move on When Reading is a $40 million program mandated by state law. Arizona law requires all school districts and charters to submit a comprehensive plan for reading instruction and intervention from kindergarten through grade three by Oct. 1. State funding is provided to schools to support the implementation of the K-3 reading plans.  Bradley said he is confident that if “cooler heads prevail at the State Board of Education, we can reach an amenable intergovernmental agreement with the staff there to continue the administration of the program.” There is an ongoing suit in the Court of Appeals to clarify authority over State Board employees.

·       PC Art Olivas: Where are you when we need your help? What is up with Sal DiCiccio? Why is he taking the AZ's GOP Chairman Robert Graham's route or the MCRC Chairman Tyler Bowyer for that matter? We have never had a better chance to elect somebody that sincerely wants to work for and help the citizens of our City! And not one has come out in support of Anna Brennan! Their silence on this election can be taken not only as being indifferent but also be misinterpreted! Their silence makes It look like the  Republican Party leaders of  Arizona are in full support of the Democrat Greg Stanton. Just short of endorsement! We are truly sorry gentlemen but that is the way you make us fell. And we will remember this next time you ask for our Vote!!  - Arthur Olivas Jr.
