9-26-15 Briefs

Republican Briefs

Briefs Editor   Frosty Taylor

Web Master   John Strasser

Saturday – Sept 26, 2015

·       Republicans of Maricopa County Chairman Tyler Bowyer responds to grumblings that he didn’t confer with officers before putting out a press release that supports four Arizona congressmen and requests US House Speaker John Boehner to resign immediately instead of waiting until Oct 30. See 9-25-15-briefs archives  We don't confer on press releases where I give statements. Those decisions are made by our Communications Director and me- especially when they are issues that are not controversial.

“Our press release was in support of the four GOP Congressmen (Gosar, Salmon, Franks, Schweikert) who serve in Maricopa County, and serve in the House Freedom Caucus which was instrumental in getting Boehner to step down. We want to make sure they know we are clearly supporting our ARIZONA guys’ conservative pick over the GOP establishment anointment of a new Speaker.

“John Boehner will be one of the most forgotten speakers of our generation as he has done nothing to help conservatives. We applaud our Congressmen, all four have stood up to the status quo at different times and we look forward to them helping elect an upgrade at Speaker of the House.”

Editor’s Note:  While concerns/complaints regarding Bowyer’s handling of some issues may be justified-- this latest complaint “is pig piling” as one long-time GOP activist so aptly labeled it. “Horse pucky” and “BS” were a couple more labels that callers attached to the disgruntles  nitpicking regarding Bowyer’s statement. As long-time activist know, party spokesmen have been making statements for years without consulting every board member for approval.

·       Senatorial Candidate Alex Meluskey:  “Yesterday Senator John McCain on ReasonTV that clearly showed that he doesn't not understand the Constitution , Conservative values, or the letter of the law. McCain said he would not shut down the government over the Planned Parenthood human trafficking racket because he would not want to let our veterans down. Where was Sen McCain when veterans were died waiting for care at the VA hospital that sits a few miles from his offices in Phoenix? Why has he dodged veterans groups in Arizona for the past five non-election years?

“I would support shutting the government down in order to shut down planned parenthood’s human trafficking racket, and to protect the very first right of the most innocent and defenseless amongst us”,  Melusky said.

“Senator McCain clearly does not understand the Kim Davis situation - that the judicial system does not make laws. He has, by default, given up his power as a legislator by failing to recognize that it is Congress that makes the law, not the Supreme Court.

“Senator McCain called for a secure border and to stop accepting LEGAL immigrants into the country. I for one, do not support cutting the flow of LEGAL immigration.  Where has John McCain been for the past five years? Where was he thinking when he co-sponsored the horrendous Chuck Shummer “gang-of-eight” amnesty bill? Why has he not done a single thing to ‘build the danged fence’?

“Senator McCain called for the party to ‘unify’. I support unifying our party behind the party’s platform  - centered around the conservative principles that the base of our party holds dear. Senator McCain wants to unify being his ideals - serve the McCain-Boehner-McConnell agenda of compromising those principles through capitulation and surrender.

It’s time for Republicans to unify behind the party’s conservative platform and put up a strong front in the face of democrat populism. Senator McCain continues to show that he does not represent the people of Arizona, and he does not understand our constitution or the conservative movement he claims to belong to every six years.”

·       CD1 Candidate Ken Bennett: I recently made the decision to run for Congress in Arizona's First Congressional District to bring responsible and accountable leadership to Washington.     Hard working Arizona residents in CD1 deserve a congressman with the experience necessary to get America working again and our economy back on track.  Together we can bring bold, new leadership to Washington, but I'll need your help.

The campaign has gotten off to a great start and I'm overwhelmed by the support I've received from my friends, family and the community.  While I'm excited about the early momentum, this race has a tough road ahead.  The race in CD1 is one of the few districts nationwide where Republicans have a chance to pick up another vitally important seat in Congress and the Democrats are going to fight hard to keep it.

As a friend and supporter of my previous campaign, I'm asking you to help me send a strong message that Arizona residents are ready for a real leader to represent CD1 in Washington.

Please join my campaign by doing   whatever you can today and help keep this great momentum going.  Together we can get Arizona working again and our economy back on track, but I can't win without your support.
